Sept. Progress Report - week 3

Friday, September 21, 2012

1. To weigh 230 by Oct. 3
Weighed in on Wednesday at 237 - not looking terribly promising to meet that goal of 230, but I will keep striving.

2. To walk at least 6 miles outside each week, and at least 9 with the WATP videos, for at least 15 miles total each week.
Goal not quite met - I walked 9 miles outside and 7 with the videos, so still exceeded total mileage for the week, but didn't get quite as intense calorie burn.

3. To do at least 10 minutes of cardio and 10 minutes of body-weight exercises before my first cup of coffee at least 4 days/week.

4. 100% attendance to Sparkpeople for the month of September. Earn at least 2500 SparkPoints for the month.
emoticon finally managed to get in 4/4 - they were Sat., Sun, Thurs. & Fri. not ideally spaced but that isn't required to meet the goal emoticon

5. Track my food eaten daily, emoticon
and stay within the recommended ranges for total calories, - exceeded by 218 calories 1 day, but average for week is in the range. And the excess day was yesterday with a turtle sundae ice cream bar that I enjoyed so well that I can't even regret it!! (sorry, just being honest!)

carbs, emoticon
fat, exceeded target range 2 days this week
protein, below target range 2 days this week

6. Progress report in my blog every Friday. emoticon

And now it is officially the weekend and I have every intention of enjoying it to the full!! emoticon emoticon
Have a great weekend all!! emoticon

7 pounds is a LOT for that short of a time!! Setting challenging realistic goals wins the race. Do you use the nutrition tracker to plan meals or record them after you eat them? It has really helped me to use it to plan my meals. But I usually have the problem of being under calories, or if I manage to plan enough, then I'm not able to eat it all. I find I'm stuffed.

And they just upped my calorie range. I'm doomed. I guess I'm being too active. Me!! too active. If someone fell in front of me, I couldn't run to them. I'd go, but I'd hobble over.

    You're doing awesome!!!
I should maybe spend more time paying attention to my goals weekly. I more or less see how I do from day to day and leave it at that.
Great job on the walking. That's a lot of steps emoticon
Enjoy your weekend, you've definitely deserved it emoticon

Today's NSV

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

This afternoon in my office building there was a minor emergency - and elderly woman took a serious fall (she is sore but otherwise okay) and I was able to be the one to run for help -- yes RUN!! It wasn't a long run in either direction, but I ran!! emoticon emoticon Between the adrenaline and the new-found energy I have from exercising regularly, I was able to OUTRUN the help I found, that is definitely a first for me!! emoticon

That was just one event in a long list of crazy things that happened today, so I am glad it is almost tomorrow!!

Now it is time for me to say goodnight to all of you - I am going to curl up with a nice book and relax until bedtime!!

I bet the "I've fallen and can't get up" lady was very grateful. I often wonder (translated as worry) if my next fall will happen near someone like you who will come to the rescue. All my past life falls happened at school where there were tons of people. Now the only place I know of with tons of people is SP. And even though you might care, you wouldn't know.

Proud of you for being the good Samaritan!!

Sept. Progress Report - week 2

Friday, September 14, 2012

1. To weigh 230 by Oct. 3
Weighed in at 236 this morning but I think I was completely dehydrated , so I am not confident that I have real weight loss here (I didn't update my tracker for this reason...)

2. To walk at least 6 miles outside each week, and at least 9 with the WATP videos, for at least 15 miles total each week.
emoticon Walked 7 miles outside and 10 with the WATP videos for a total of 17

3. To do at least 10 minutes of cardio and 10 minutes of body-weight exercises before my first cup of coffee at least 4 days/week.
Got in 3/4 again this week emoticon (there is no reason I can't meet this goal, I just didn't!)

4. 100% attendance to Sparkpeople for the month of September. emoticon
Earn at least 2500 SparkPoints for the month. Currently have 1484 for the month of Sept.

5. Track my food eaten daily, emoticon
and stay within the recommended ranges for total calories, carbs, fat, protein, all nutrients.
emoticon Over on total calaries 3 days, average is still in range
over on fat 1 day, under on protein 1 day, under on carbs 1 day, over on sodium 3 day (average over for the week)

6. Progress report in my blog every Friday. emoticon

Again, not a terrible week, but still room for improvement.

One pattern that I have noticed is that even though I do pretty well Mon - Fri, on Sat. & Sun. I have a tendency to over indulge. Makes sense since the food is more readily available when I am not at work, but I need to make some effort to both eat better and less on the weekends.

Tonight, I will not stay up too late. Tomorrow I will wake up on time and exercise. On both Saturday and Sunday, I will find active pass-times that keep me away from the fridge emoticon emoticon

Trackers are mighty useful, aren't they? Sometimes the patterns that emerge are really surprising, and sometimes they just confirm what we know. Weekends are hard for me because I end up doing family stuff and missing work outs.

Rock on! It's great that you're keeping track of all that! I have to be really careful on the weekends myself. It's way too easy for me to mindlessly eat, or meet up with someone and overeat and then drink. Weekends are a blessing and a curse for me. But you can totally do it this weekend! I'm going to bed early too! We're gonna rock our workouts tomorrow!

Well done! You can learn a lot from tracking your progress and make adjustments as needed. Sometimes those adjustments will come more easily than others. I'm sure you lost SOME weight this week...I certainly hope it's the full amount that showed on the scale for you this morning.

Hang in there! You can do it!

emoticon because here I can be a emoticon - offering encourgement emoticon.

emoticon because my emoticons are here to remind me to emoticon because emoticon.

emoticon because it is full of emoticon to keep me motivated and emoticon when emoticon .

emoticon because ...

Okay I have lost patience with the cutesy emoticons, but what I want to say is that I love SP! I started using it nearly 4 years ago but only as a personal tool. I read articles and tracked nutrition and fitness sporadically, but I certainly wasn't using it to its full potential. I used it, but I didn't love it.

This summer I decided to take the leap and actually become involved - post on the message boards, write blogs, encourage others... SparkPeople has a ton of great tools that I could probably find other places, but the community aspect of SP is unique to this site! I love SparkPeople because I love my SparkFriends!!
