First time wearing flip flops this year!

Monday, April 02, 2012

So, today was the first day I was able to wear flip flops! It's been raining so much and it's been pretty cold too. The sun came out today so I painted my toes a bright melon/red and wore my silver flip flops! I felt like Spring is really here.
Now, tomorrow it's supposed to rain again big time, but for now, it was fun having my sneak peek at the warmer sunny weather in the months to come.
I think I'm going to make an appointment to see my doctor this week. My stupid nose has been bothering me for many days now. It feels so dry and sometimes I blow it and see blood. It almost feels like there are sores in my right nostril. I figure I should have it checked to make sure nothing is really wrong. It seems like more than just a seasonal allergy thing. I've tried the saline Ocean nasil spray and putting a tiny bit of Vasaline on a qtip and putting a little on the inside of my nose.
So, I need to figure out what to make for dinner. I have pork chops in the fridge and I got some Lara's lean beef at the store today too. I'm thinking it's a pork chop night! :)
I never got around to making another crustless quiche, that is something that needs to be done this week. I like the grab and go of it and my boys love it too.

Oh wow! 80 degrees! It's still in the mid 50's to low 60's (Pacific Northwest/Seattle). I'm looking forward to the sunny warm weather too. :)

Still feeling positive...

Saturday, March 31, 2012

Still feeling in control. I am really paying attention to keeping my blood sugars stable. When my blood sugars are stable I just don't feel so crazy hungry all of the time. Breakfast was left over herbed pork loin and iced tea with Splenda.I bought WASA today 35 calories a slice, 6 net carbs. I ate two with a smear of mayo, turkey breast and tons of jalapenos piled on the top; super yummy for dinner. Lunch today was a burger, cheese, lettuce, tomato hold the bun and a latte with Splenda.
I need to make another crustless quiche tomorrow for grab and go breakfast or blood sugar friendly snack.
Tonight I am having strawberries for dessert. I have 3 pounds worth. I might end up having to freeze some for smoothies, or make some strawberry muffins for the boys. Most likely make strawberry muffins for the boys since they loved them when I made them before.
Heading downstairs to do the dishes and get my kitchen in order.
Just wanted to come here and post for my accountability....

Day two and feeling more in control

Friday, March 30, 2012

So, I'm on day two of watching my blood sugars/meals. My last A1c was a nice scare that I needed. I have been prediabetic for several years and this last test got my attention.
I know that I have an opportunity to turn it around and that is what I want to do.
I gave up my white chocolate mochas (iced/daily habit) and my body is thanking me for it. It was truly an addiction; feeling I needed that to start my day.
Yesterday and today I have had a breve with no flavoring or sweeteners.
My blood sugars have been really good. I don't have the 200's anymore when I test, I have 140's and below. I have noticed I am not as hungry either since watching my sugar intake. I feel like I have been given another chance to get my sugars under control. My doctor stated we will do another A1c in 6 months. He wants me to really focus on my weight as my BMI is 53 which is awful. I'm 5 feet tall and 278 pounds. My doctor stated even 20 pounds will help my sugar but ultimately I really have to make changes to avoid being diabetic.

Why did I drink the diet soda this week? :/

Monday, February 14, 2011

I knew better, but I did it anyway. This last week I bought some Diet Soda and man does that make my stomach hurt. I just don't do well with Asparatame. My stomach has been feeling like it got kicked in and my back hurts. It's the same feeling I always get when I drink diet soda. I don't know why I did it to myself. I should have let that craving go away on it's own. I know that in a few days it will be gone, as long as I don't poison myself again with that chemical.
I should have bought the Hansons with Splenda, but then again that is not the best either. I have not checked to see if there is a soda with Stevia in it. I'll stick with my seltzer water with fresh lemon for now. Ugh!
Tomorrow is Valentines Day. I don't plan on doing much (divorced for two years now and no desire to date at the moment). The little ones and I will just do something here at the house after my oldest gets out of Kindergarten. I can't wait for them to wake up and get their little Valentine surprises from me in the morning.
We went to my parents house today and brought them flowers and a Valentine from the kids. It was a nice visit. It always is nice to visit them. Thankfully they are only 30 minutes away.
Tomorrow my wee one has a nice Valentine he made and a nice bouquet of flowers for his kindergarten teacher. He's going to look so cute heading to class tomorrow with his Valentine surprise for her.
I was thinking about getting steak at the store to make for me and the little ones tomorrow. Shrimp possibly too. Just not sure. We will have to decide on it tomorrow.
Right now with the stomach pain, the only thing that sounds good right now is my ice water I'm sipping on!

Fibromyalgia and Prunes (what a headline)

Sunday, February 13, 2011

So, with this weather we are having here, my Fibromyalgia is going nuts. I started getting pretty achy this last week and today I feel like a pretzel that fell down a flight of stairs. My body feels like my shoulders are up over my ears and my arms are aching all the way down to my finger tips. I didn't do a lot of heat packs today so tomorrow I will do those as they seem to help a little bit to relieve some of the pain for a bit.
So, on to the prunes! I went to the store today as I needed some bananas and yogurt and as I was browsing in the produce area, I saw a wonderful little bag of Cherry Essence Prunes. I have not had the cherry essence ones before and so I bought some. Oh man, nom nom nommy. I ate 5 and then about an hour later I ate another five. I'm hoping I don't blow up my pants in the night ha ha. I plan on keeping them in the house. They are so plump and filled with flavor.

I hadn't heard of them so I googled. 5 prunes have 100 calories and twenty one net carbs. So that would be 200 calories and 42 net carbs. I am not sure how that compares with a banana or how that fits into your plan. One thing for sure is that you won't have constipation!
