Good day

Tuesday, March 02, 2010

It was warm here today and we had fun. Went to pet therapy, and the library at work. We just enjoyed the puppies so much.I would love to bring them home with me, well until it was time to clean up the back yard. if you know what I mean

I also was given a Magazine by one of the ladies, It was so nice, she wanted to share some styles that she thought i would like...I always comment on her clothes, we have similar taste....but she is 20 years younger than me......any way i did find 2 nice blouses I'm going to order and a really nice pair of slack and see how they fit.....it was fun talking to someone about clothes and not worry if any thing will fit..
well have healthy tomorrow, I'm going to watch American idol.

Shopping is always fun no matter if it is in a store. Or in a magazine. Glad you are able to talk with others about clothes. I do that with my mother in law.

HAve a healthy day Kitt

I'm glad you had a good day. Discussing clothing is something I always avoid. Great for you that you have arrived - and can enjoy all that now.

You are an inspiration for all of us! I'm so glad to be your SP Friend!

the Question of the day

Monday, March 01, 2010

How funny my day was...at work 2 ladies asked me if I thought Sparkpeople really helped me loose weight. They both joined but never really got in to the program...
then one of the teams I belong asked that same question?

I wish I was better at expressing myself.....but my answer to all of them and others who have asked me over the years... YES, YES YES Sparkpeople gave me the tools, the knowledge and the encouragement to loose the weight....it showed me through healthy eating and regular exercise it can be done....yes it takes time , consistency, courage and hard work but you can reach your goals.

I admit it took me longer than I planned, like most everyone I wanted to loose it over night.. It took planning and learning and believing in myself but i did.

A beading friend told me her niece had gastric by pass surgery and did not loose as much weight as I have, and I have several friends tell me the same thing....I told them all to join Sparkpeople and give it a try, it won't happen over night , it takes work, it takes planning, it takes exercise but you can get to your happy healthy weight... but like everything, you have to start, you have to commit to a plan and then stick with it.....changing as you go, if something is not working then try something new, I can't say it enough just keep trying till it works....

In 60 days I will be with SparkPeople for 4 years, I think back to when I started I wanted to loose 20 pounds, I though t"oh Lord help me drop 20 pounds" "I know I'll never be skinny but I want to live"
I'm not exactly sure why sparkpeople worked for me, and it doesn't for some, I can say I'm just as excited about the program nearly 4 years later, even thought I'm loosing very slow, 1 pound these last 3 month....but I reached my goal weight and now below that a couple of pounds, how cool is that.....but it did work and I thank my special Sparkfriends, the coaches and of course Sparkguy....maybe it was just my time ...I don't really care the reason just that it did work and it gives me hope each day that I'll keep the weight off, as long as I stick to my plan and not go back to my old habit......and I believe in myself.......

Thanks once again for letting me blog my thoughts and feelings.....

Have a healthy March and reach for the stars, emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

You deserve the best.......

I can attest that Spark works because it's working for me. And you absolutely hit the nail on the head in that WE have to do the work. There is no magic involved in losing weight or becoming healthy. It takes work, commitment to oneself, and the desire to really make a change. I think too many people are looking for a golden parachute, to just wake up skinny one morning and not have to do anything. Oh, if life were that easy!

You have done a fabulous job, Kitt! You blazed a wonderful trail for me, and I'm following up behind you!

You are right. SparkPeople does help. It helps you HELP YOURSELF!

This is a website with all the tools anyone needs for losing weight. But each individual has to do his/her own work to make it happen.

And, the biggest and most important part of SP is the community of warm, supportive people who cheer you on while you are losing, who provide models for success, and who seem to really CARE!

In that way - SP also builds in accountability. You want to remain a part of that winning (and losing) community.

Look out .....here comes March

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Can you believe it's going to be March 1st. tomorrow...
Wow the third month already.....Where does the time go..

My goals for March:

eat healthy ..plan all meals and snacks
exercise each day..find new and fun ways to burn calories
find new ways to reward myself.
be kind to myself and be proud of myself.....

I was watching Carnie Wilson today, she too has a show about your struggles with weight and alcohol...one thing I noticed in the few times I watch, she has a lot of excuses why she does what she does.....she feels entitled to not follow her Doctors advice, or even Dr. Oz.
I wonder how many of us feel that way.....thinking I had a rough life, bad things happen to me so I need food or drink or drugs to help me forget my pain.....but one thing she said that stuck a nerve with me was she was 300 pounds and lost down to 150, but gain back to 216 or 218 ..she is frustrated with the news media for making fun of her...she says I'm way better off then when I was 300 pounds.....I agree...

then it hit me...gee I was 347 at my highest and now holding at about 144......and i sometimes feel that is still not good enough...but it is.....I'm not in the new media, I'm not a singer or on TV. But it made me think twice about how proud of myself I should be.....

we all need to remind our selves of where were and how far we have come....it might not be exactly where we want to be but we are still working.....

I do think it's non productive to make excuses ...as I said last night, only YOU can change your attitude and perspective to match your personal reality.....

do you think most people make excuses why they can't or won't reach there goals??

One last thing, today I was 143 on the scale....but it won't let me post that, I have to change my goal weight , which I'm not ready to do...
I'm working on a new plan...I'm having a hard time expressing what it is I want to do...but as soon as I can get it down in words I'll blog...

I'm looking for people who have reached there goal weight but then started a new plan....anyone out there like that???
I think it would be nice if they had a sliding ticker for those of us who are trying to maintain. you know have 5 pound range or 3 pounds....okay I'm babbling now....
I'm going to get ready to watch Ruby on the Style network....

Have a healthy week

Kitt

Kitt, I really like your goals and that is something I have let slide since the 1st of the year. Thx for the reminder.

In addition...where ever our head goes, the body follows. I have heard her make all the excuses and I am thinking that is what it really is....excuses.

Simple but not easy!

Kitt, you are awesome and this was an awesome blog tonight. I'm glad you're taking some time to become comfortable with the new you -- get to know you as you are now and, and figure out more of what you want to do. And it's awesome that you've lost another pound! Don't make that your focus, however. Learn the lay of the land where you are at the moment. It will give you an idea of where you'd like to go exploring first. Hugs to ya!

Words from Coach Dean

Saturday, February 27, 2010

I was reading one of Coach Dean's articles and this statement really spoke to me...
"You're the only one who can decide what's right for you, only You can change your attitude and perspective to match your personal reality"

He is such a smart guy, I just love reading his articles ..it's usually so easy to understand and gives me so much insight to help me stay on my best healthy lifestyle no matter what.

I add no matter what never ever give up, find a way to fit eating healthy and exercise in to your life....make it YOUR paradise no one Else's, wake up each day and ask yourself " how can I be good to myself today" "what can I do to help myself reach my goals" then do it....

Have a healthy week end.

I like Coach Dean as well. He speaks to my core in many ways; I suspect it is partly because he once walked where I am walking. He once carried the extreme extra weight that I have and am carrying. And no one knows better than the person who has experienced it the struggles and challenges that one faces to lose a whole person.

I am so proud of you!

I like Coach Dean, too -- very sensible guy. And he is absolutely right -- there are some things we cannot control, and there is a lot we CAN control.     I try to pay more attention to my very small body changes. Pants I've been wearing a while that are a little bigger in the waist or a little less tight in the thighs. Measuring is sometimes a pleasant surprise. I was told by a pal in Weight Watchers to measure my waist to see if I was losing fat in the most medically risky place to carry it. I am not obsessive about any of this any more, but it's nice to check myself out in my clothes and feel a bit better than to stand and criticize my bare body! LOL

My best tip is each thing I shouldn't eat, I look at it and decide....YOU'RE NOT WORTH IT. I'll eat you in 5 seconds flat and need a week to get you out of my system. I chose what goes into me with precision. I'm not wasting one more day. I can either do it now for this year, or spend another 10 yrs trying. I'm doing it!

journalling. Worked when I did the weight loss clinic and lost the 60+ pounds. Then I stopped and gained it back. It is helping now too. I log even when I know I did bad. Just to remind myself how I have to work to "undo" the extra calories.

My best tip /trick is looking in the mirror each day. I hate to get on the scales but I have to gauge my success or failure some way so I look in my mirror. That is what brought me to this site and that is what has motivated me over the past months. The mirror does not lie. Plus use the tools on sparkpeople, they are wonderfully helpful. good luck!
