I love your list. All of it is so true. I have so much energy now. Yesterday I worked 8 hours, and it was a full day, attending meetings, putting together and distributing handbooks, arranging travel, etc. At 4 I left work and came home. I immediately began preparing the evening meal for myself, son & hubby and after a nice Parmesan tilapia dinner, I cleaned it all up. Then it was time to read more of my homework assignment. I worked on that until about 7:30, when the temp finally dropped to 81. Outside I went for a quick (decided to see if I could set a personal best time) hike down to the end of our road. It's only 1.2 miles round trip and I usually go farther than that, but it wasn't getting any earlier and the light was fading fast, so I decided to go for speed this trip. Sure enough, after breaking into a jog several times on the way back, I did it in 21 minutes. Not bad for an old lady. When I came inside, I finished reading my homework, then wrote and submitted (everything is done on-line now) my 3-paragraph response to the readings. By then it was after 9:00. I sat in front of the TV for the next couple of hours, working on my cross stitch project, before heading up to bed at 11. I NEVER would have had the energy to do half of this in one day before. It would have taken me all week! But it makes me feel so good about myself, that I CAN do all that now. But now, it's time to get ready for class. I took today off from work, so I would have a 5-day weekend, but forgot I have to go to class today anyway. Ten percent of your grade is for perfect attendance. That is 10% I'm going to earn. When I got up this morning (I slept in--until 8:00!), I went outside right away for a long walk, 3.4 miles. I didn't set any speed records today, it's really windy out there, and getting warmer every minute. So now it's time for a shower, then lunch with hubby. I may get more time tonite for counted cross stitch, which I love. No more class assignments to prepare until Monday night, so I'm going to take it easier today! But it's good to know I have the energy to do whatever I want! Life is good! Report Inappropriate Comment |

These are excellent things and it's good to look back periodically -- remember where we started and see what we can do now that we couldn't before. Life is so much sweeter when we're healthy! Report Inappropriate Comment |

I had such a fun day yesterday, to bad it had to be marred with the darn thoughts of FUDGE.....as I said we bought some yummy fudge, we shared it but there was some left....most of the evening till I finally fell a sleep I kept thinking about that darn fudge....I did not need to eat another bite or even a half of a bite....I had more than my share.....
an boy was I disappointed when I got on that scale this morning...up 5 pounds, ya I know it happens, I'll see what tomorrow looks like but still, it's time right this minute to nip it in the bud...I don't want to let this get away from me......so I marched right to the fridge and took out the small blue box that held that heavenly tasting junk and then marched to the big trash bin in the garage and threw it will all my might in, then slammed the lid and screamed, that's where you belong, not in my body, not on my thighs....YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME, I AM THE MASTER OF MY LIFE...wow I feel so much better.....lessoned learned, to say I will never eat fudge again would be a lie but next time buy just enough for each of us to have a small serving and not bring it home.....
learning lessons are part of winning this struggle....
have a healthy day and be happy

Excellent lesson, Kitt. This is likely a typical weight fluctuation, too. You're right to stay on your toes and monitor...just don't freak out. You'll be back down in no time.

I'm sure over the next couple of days you will see that gain disappear. A piece of fudge isn't 5 lbs.

I agree with Jo, you did not gain weight by eating a piece of fudge, did not. It made you feel better to get rid of it so that is a good thing. You have to do what makes you feel good. Hugs Mary Report Inappropriate Comment |

Thats the way Kitt. Show it who is boss! I can hardly bring myself to throw food away, especially when it's something I really want to eat. There have been times I'd eat the whole thing just to get rid of it so it wouldn't be in the house to tempt me anymore...craziness!

Well done KITT-Lesson learned buy just a single serving, MODERATION is key. Buying yourself temptation is not a good idea. Buy it, eat it, enjoy it and move on!. I am happy the trash has it now. HUGS Pat in Maine Report Inappropriate Comment |

Kitt --you know that the bite of fudge did not add 5 lbs to you... and like me ( I do the same thing) you know it is probably water.sodium gain which will disappear once you get back at the routine your body is used to..Remember just last week you were in the air flying ..adjustment to body there, then eating out more often in restaurants-- even with healthy choices --the sodium in those meals!!ugh.. I do it too.. When on holidays we are to enjoy not worry . This 5 lbs... is NOTHING for you to fret about ..It was not the fudge .. so do not feel guilty do not beat yourself up ...just get back to your routine and you will have that 5 lbs off in a blink of an eye...Remember this is not a fat gain.. I just did this myself --went to the wedding drank a little too much even though I ate good I was up 3 lbs...errrrrr... but by next WI I was down to my same old same old weight --you will be too..
