What a beautiful Morning it is...sunny and clear...but the weather report is for a hot day and humid day..
I'm up early to get my workout done before it gets to hot and I find reasons why not to exercise....

No excuses here....90 minutes on the treadmill....15 minutes with weights and 5 with stretchy bands....

My positive start to a glorious day......meals planned, snacks too....drinking plenty of water....

What are you doing to make it a glorious day....

Our weather is the same today, and we also have a chance for some strong storms later.
I just got home from having my CT scan; tummy is a little upset from the barium and the dye, so I will wait til this afternoon to do my workout. I have AC, so the heat won't stop me today!

I need to get started on my water too, gotta flush that barium out of my system, and since I had to fast after midnight last night, I imagine I am a bit dehydrated too.

Good for you; getting all of your workout done early to beat the heat! Today is a Curves day for me. I'll get my water in w/o any trouble since it will be hot & humid. I will need to stay focused on my food and drink intake tonight as I am having my father over for dinner which always makes me anxious.

Sunday..the start to another healthy week

Sunday, July 20, 2014

I finally finish with the cherry canning job....30 pounds of cherries are now ready for the later part of the year....I made 20 half pints of Cherry preserves, 4 quarts of just frozen cherries to be decided later what to do with them, 6 quarts of cherry pie filling and then I used a new recipe from a friend for pie filling that you don't can, it stayed in the fridge for up to 2 months....I will make a pie and cobbler for the next family dinner which is Aug. 3rd...

I plan on giving some of the preserves as Christmas gifts...

This week I will be picking blueberries and doing the same thing with them....

Our garden is coming along really good...we have had lots of fresh veggies for every meal...we feel so healthy....what fun to go pick your own veggies....of course it is a lot of work, and my dear husband does most of it...I pick...lol

have a healthy week... emoticon

my picture is too big...I will try and resize it ...

emoticon job with the emoticon . You are going to be glad that you took 3 days to do this later this year when fresh cherries aren't available. It is funny what you said about the foods from the garden. I told Jim that I love doing such nice things for my body. It just makes me feel good.

I'm sure those cherry preserves will be very much appreciated!

I have fond memories of going blueberry picking with my mom and dad when I was younger. It was fun to pick them, not so much fun getting them ready for the freezer when we got home, lol.

Love it. We've been enjoying cherries and blueberries fresh. I froze blueberries, I like to throw a handful in my oatmeal. I didn't freeze any cherries. I'm just starting to get things from my garden. Some summer squash and cucumbers coming, swiss chard, radishes, red beets are about ready if I want them fairly small. I've never tried eating the red beet tops, but hear they are good - I think I might cook our red beet tops this year. I have tomatoes on the vines, but I'm afraid they are going to blight - some signs of it on the plants. My peas will soon be ready and there are tiny, tiny green beans on the plants - a few weeks on those. Unfortunately, my lettuce never made it - I had seed from a prior year and think it may have been old.

Lesson Learned

Friday, July 11, 2014

I had a very hectic day yesterday....I had to drive to my Dads an hour a way, do some shopping and run several errands in different areas.....When I left home I had the car packed, I was returning things that family members left at my house over the holiday week end...Darn if I did not forget my snack and my lunch....by the time I got to my Dads I was very hungry but Dad had just finished his meal....so I got busy helping him, shower (he is 90 years old) wash his clothes, and tidy up his house...we talked and then I realized I still had not eaten, it's not like to forget to eat...Dad doesn't have many choices, but he did have watermelon, so I put out a small bowl of watermelon, he helped me eat it....we both love water melon....we chatted for about 2 hours and then it was time for me to go....boy was I hungry....
My first thought was what am I going to eat, I won't be home for about 2 hours...I need to stop and get groceries on my way home....
I had a fun conversation with myself....I thought I have a lot of calories yet to eat, okay self what sort of fun food would you like, you can have most any thing.....wonder who has baked or grilled chicken, now all kinds of yummy things were going through my brain...
one hour later I reach the store, now I was really hungry it was nearly 4pm and I had not eaten since 7am...everything looked so good, as we all know never go shopping on and empty stomach.....I got all my groceries and even got Husband snacks...okay I tell myself what are you going to get just for you..
what would taste so very good at this very hungry time....I saw a large beautiful Gala apple, wow now that would be so yummy and easy to eat....so even though I told myself I can have most anything I wanted I picked the apple..I gave myself a little hug for making the best choice ....guess it's true, once you learn to eat healthy, you learn to crave it....
back in 2006 I would have stopped for a burger and fries but now I stop for apples.....
I have learned a great lesson here at Spark people....first it is possible to live the rest of my life with put fattening fast foods.....and that apple was so crisp and juicy I knew I had made the right choice..it BUT NEXT TIME I WILL REMEMBER MY planned snack and lunch.....

HAVE A HEALTHY DAY....you can do it..... emoticon

How emoticon I read somewhere that the way to tell the difference between if you're hungry or just craving food was to ask yourself "if it was an apple, would you still want it?" You are where I want to be and it just reinforces the fact that it's more than just eat less move more. I am working hard to change how I think too.

You certainly have learned good lessons on SP Kitt! Getting that juicy apple was such a great choice and you sure can give yourself a pat on the back for your wisdom with food!

Does your father live alone? My hubby can't bath himself and I can't give him a bath so we have a bath nurse come in weekly to do that and he manages to do sponge baths daily himself. Just a thought. Your dad does sound like he does very well at his age, kudos to him . . . and to you!
