    ABSOLUTELY! ! !

Thank you for posting this! It comes at a time in my city when some non-Christian people have started a huge struggle (including legal council) with our city government about the beautiful Nativity Scene that is prominently on display during this time of year. I just makes me so sad and I can hardly address the issue intelligently!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your loved ones! emoticon

Celebration Time

Friday, December 12, 2014

Yesterday I celebrated 5 years at my goal weight....My happy weight range...as most know the scale goes up a pound or so and down a pound or so everyday....You can hold your happiness on what the scale tells us.....it took me several years to figure it out...lots of good times and some not so good time....
I have been with Spark people since 2006, it took me 3.5 years to loose 200+ pounds and now I'm celebrating 5 years at keep those pounds off.......

Most ask how I did it...."people say what is the secret to loosing the weight and keeping it off"

I have to admit there is no secret, you have to find a plan that works for you that involves eating less calories than your body needs, and then with the help of exercise you have to find a place where you can loose the weight and or keep the weight off....It's a balance act....one that can change a lot...

as you loose weight you have to eat less....really the less you weight the less food you need....the more you exercise ...the more you have to find ways to exercise..our bodies get use to the same old exercise...so you have to change it up....you have to do more exercises....

Now that is the problem most people have....you figure once you have lost the weight...you should now be able to eat normally or what you think is normal.....This is not true for me....I have had to stick with limited calories most everyday....I log all my food.....
I had to keep doing the 120-150 minutes of aerobic exercise at least 6 days a week....

This seems like a lot to ask a person, but it is what it takes for me to keep he weight off...I suspect it will be this way for the rest of my life.....

I will always have to watch myself.....but if asked I would say it is worth the price of being healthy...of keeping the weight off....

This is what works for me.....not so sure it's for everyone but it is for me...

Thanks for all the goodies and well wishes from my spark friends...YOU HAVE HELPED ME GET HERE AND STAY HERE....I ENJOY YOUR SUPPORT EVERYDAY.... emoticon

Congratulations!! In my mind, 3.5 years to lose 200 pounds is not slow!! I just don't know how I could ever fit 120 to 150 FM in 6 days a week! You have done great and I already know I could never go back to the way I ate prior to beginning to lose weight! I have to count, track and limit! You should be very proud! Once again, Congratulations!!

I loved reading your blog. Congratulations on all that you have accomplished! There really isn't any magic bullet, is there. Just the same old fashioned way of measured calories in and keeping the body moving as much as possible. Glad that you have it figured out and are proving it every day by living the lifestyle. Here's to your continued success at healthy living! emoticon m emoticon emoticon

Great blog.....and so true. I have been maintaining for 12 years and it is a balancing game. portion control is so....so....important. I weigh each day to keep track of where I am. If the scale goes up a lb or so, I eat less and exercise more. If if goes down, I don't usually do anything about that. I eat pretty healthy and am happy where I am.

Congrats Kitt for a job well done. You are a true inspiration to so many here on SP. emoticon

Congratulations on your sparkaversary, Kitt! You are so right there is no big "secret". We each have to find our own way and our own plan that works for us. I have been working on that for the past several months. It is trial and error. I think I am finally finding a good plan for me! Which I am sure will change as time goes on. Thank you so much for all of your blogs. They are sooooo helpful! I look forward to reading many, many more!!!!

Let the Parties begin

Sunday, December 07, 2014

This week will be the first of many Christmas parties......
My usual routine for the holidays is to do a lot of baking....cookies, candy and pies.....I love to bake and I love to share with my friends and family......

BUT this year I am not going to bake.....no cookies ....no candies....and just pie for my Dad......

I feel wonderful....I don't have to struggle with the idea of how I won't eat those cookies and candies....

This holiday seems so much easier.....I can still go to parties and have a cookie or 1 candy ....
I don't smell them in my house, I don't have to convince myself that one cookie or candy today is okay...
and I do believe in moderation.....but some how it's not a struggle ....and I feel in control....
it's a good feeling.....it's a more relaxed feeling.......

I don't have to tempt my self...so let the parties begin....Kitt is in control of her healthy life.... emoticon

This is the first year since my journey began that I have not felt anxiety over the holidays regarding all of the massive amounts of food. I had the first party last night and came out of it smelling like a rose and that is the plan. The best cookies and candies are at my brother's house, so that is where I will be enjoying a few holiday treats. It sounds like you've got it all together, my friend. emoticon

I have struggled my whole life with what I now see as an over abundance of holiday food. "Treats" that are served in huge quantities at many places. I now feel, that makes it a treat no longer. Through the years I have cut back on a LOT on baking and buying "treats" for the holidays. One reason is that so many other people serve so much. I no longer want to be overwhelmed by it all and feel like my hard work and expense is just adding to the over abundance. Food is not the only thing that makes a holiday. Without it, would the holiday exist?

FUNLOVEN 12/7/2014 9:56AM

Oh my! That is sort of funny to me because I am going to take exactly the opposite approach this year! I usually do not bake or make goodies for the holidays, but I have run across a couple of candy recipes that I want to try and so I am planning to make them, wrap them in little gift boxes, and give them to my friends at the Girl's Holiday Happy Hour I have planned!

Let them eat the stuff instead of me - LOL!
