Finally Got a Nice Wool Coat

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

It is a cold and chilly morning here (30's) which is a big difference from the 60's we had the other day (in the morning time, 70's later in the day).

The family and I went shopping Saturday to get an idea of what the kids (okay, really my picky daughter) wanted for Christmas and I ended up getting myself a much needed wool winter coat (London Fog) at Sam's Club for $52!!! The best part, I got it in size small!!! emoticon

I had no coat to wear with semi-dressy clothes at all since my old wool coat was way too big. I've been looking everytime I go to JC Penney's to shop for one, but they are always too long in the sleeves, so this was the first one that wasn't and was also a good price.

I'm loving that I signed up for the Prime Shipping free trial period at Amazon. It is so much stress off of me to find a good deal and have it shipped within 2 days. I don't have to worry about having $25 in my shopping cart (for free shipping) and I also found a site that alerts you when Amazon has a sale on a particular item you're wanting so you don't have to check all the time on your own.

My trial ends after Christmas so I think I signed up at the perfect time. I don't plan to overbuy at all because of that, but at least if I see a great deal that isn't at least $25, I can buy it right away and get an awesome deal sent to me in 2 days!

Yes, we looked yesterday for a free book for her but most were adult books. We found a craft book she wanted to look at so we got that. That's been the biggest obstacle with her having a Kindle, not having a lot of children's books for her age category that she likes.

That's one of the reasons I'm not sure I should get a Kindle Fire for me or not since she doesn't use her Kindle (and I might would have to if she doesn't eventually) much. I would hate to have two of them just for me, LOL.

I hope you get a great price on your coat!

Did you know the prime membership includes the ability to borrow kindle books? Not sure if it will work since it's your daughter's . . .

That's awesome that you got a nice coat! In a size small! I usually get coats in mediums just so I can wear a bulky sweater underneath, but it all depends.

I have my eyes on a JLo coat at kohls, but am waiting for the price to come down more.

Lack of Sleep, But Still Trying To Get Things Done

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

I'm incredibly sleepy and tired today because although I went to sleep fine, I seem to always wake up in the middle of the night (or early morning) and not be able to get back to sleep. It is so frustrating to say the least. I woke up this morning a little after 3:00 a.m. and have been awake since.

Despite the lack of sleep and energy, I've tried to catch up on some housework that I wasn't able to get done yesterday due to all the activities we had planned that took up a lot of my time. Tomorrow will be another busy day, but at least I feel more organized.

We haven't had a chance to put up any Christmas decorations yet, so that's another thing I need to get around to. I really love Christmas and decorations, but our house is so small (especially our living room) that we struggle even with a slim tree finding room for it.

I'm thankful for having a paid for house, but I sure wish we would have not been quite as conservative when we bought it and would have gotten one a little larger (not tons larger by no means).

My daughter has her first piano recital coming up soon and she's getting excited about it. emoticon I'm so proud of her sticking to her lessons and practicing without me having to nag her. She's really a self-motivator and I'm really happy about that.

Not Much Cyber Monday Shopping For Me Today

Monday, November 28, 2011

I didn't get to do much cyber day shopping today. It was a typical busy Monday with piano lessons and art class along with trying to catch up on housework, schooling the kids, running errands, etc.

We got home after 6:00 p.m. today from art class and it was pouring rain and windy. It was in the 70's earlier today but supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow. Seriously, I'd like to be able to put the kid's summer clothes up at some point, but still can't due to the unpredictable weather. It is almost December and I wore capri pants today, ROFL!

I'm really late on joining the technology wagon, but I finally joined prime shipping at Amazon today and placed my first order without having to worry about spending $25 to get free shipping. I figured since it was free for a month, now is the perfect time to join. emoticon

Cool on the laptop!! My husband is constantly using the one I bought, so I'm thinking of getting me a Kindle Fire so I can read email, etc. I don't have a smart phone or anything like that so thought it might be a nice thing to get. I'm afraid to make the jump into it though because I"m not sure if I will use it enough to warrant the $200.

Went Under My Calories, But On The High End Yesterday

Sunday, November 27, 2011

I somehow went to my highest calorie count ever yesterday (over 1600) but was under the calorie count suggested. I have no idea how I did that other than I didn't refresh the page and was distracted with other things I was trying to do at the same time.

I'm not berating myself by no means since I didn't go over my calorie count, but it felt weird being that high in calories for the day, LOL.

I'm busy listing a few things for sale again that my daughter finally decided to get rid of and I hope that they sell before Christmas. I'd really love to finance Christmas this year with items that I've sold, but luckily we have no mortgage payments since we paid the house off, so I'm not terribly worried about Christmas.

Despite paying the house off, I still am watching our money because we have some house upgrades we need to take care of that have been neglected, not to mention we need to get our bank account back up for emergencies.

Trying To Save More Money While Spending It, LOL!

Saturday, November 26, 2011

I did some shopping yesterday (with less crowds to deal with later in the day) and got myself a new digital crock pot for $16 at Sam's Club, some $9.97 Lee jeans since most of mine are too big, some $9.97 jeans for my son, and a few other deals.

I have most of the "small" things I plan to get my daughter for Christmas, but don't have anything big or small for my son yet. I'm still waiting for that Christmas list that no one has given me yet, but I'm keeping my eyes out for sales in the papers, online, etc. I found one gift I bought for $5 cheaper at Amazon than at Wal-Mart and plan to take the gift back to Wal-Mart since I have to take some jeans that don't fit my son as well (wasn't sure of the size and wanted to get them on the last day of the sale).

I've got some alerts set up to let me know when Amazon has sales on certain things I'm looking for so that will help me to not have to check Amazon a million times, LOL. The great thing is no lines, no tax, no shipping costs (if I buy $25 or more, but I'm thinking of upgrading to prime plus shipping), etc.

I also found some cheap meat marked down at Sam's Club since people are not normally buying that type of thing (except for turkey or ham) during Thanksgiving, so saved some money there as well.

I'm seriously thinking of going for the Amazon prime. I know you can get it for free for one month and now is a great time to try it out for sure, LOL.

Does anyone know if the month trial ends on the date you start it (in other words if I started it on 11/27 it would end on 12/27) or if it better to start it on the first of the month instead?

I looked on their site but couldn't find out any information on it unless you agreed to sign up.
