Wk 20 Weigh In

Saturday, August 27, 2011

Move along folks, there's nothing to see here ...

Not a great week for me, a little too much snacking; and too little movement. Did y'all know that playing Modern Warfare 2 on the xbox DOES NOT count as exercise??? Even if your heart is pounding from dodging bullets and killing the enemy!!

Okay, here's the info for those of you keeping score at home:

Weight : 271.4 lbs
Lost : .3 lbs
Total : 45.8 lbs

I think the 270's are trying to kill me, these have been the hardest 10 lbs to lose so far. But it's still a loss and I am still thankful for that. I must work harder (actually, just doing "some" work would be an increase).

That's the spirit! it does happen. some 10s are harder to lose. But you keep at it and they will come off for sure..

Congrats on losing still!

You've lost a lot already so it's not surprising your rate of loss has slowed a bit - I think that's pretty normal. And you're still going in the right direction so don't let it get you down. Good luck!

Sometimes it goes slower than others - for example this month I have gained weight, then lost it and in total I am down 0.1kg.

Have a great week

Not too much to write today, My son started his sophomore year of high school this week, giving me some peace and quiet to do my own schoolwork. Had a computer down for a couple of weeks and finally got a new system hooked up on Thursday.
The weather hasn't been too hot here, mid 90's the last few weeks. Usually it would be 100+ this time of year, so much for global warming!!

Anyway, on to what we're all here for:

Weight : 271.7 lbs
Lost : 1.1 lbs
Total : 45.5 lbs

Can't wait til August 30th! Sons of Anarchy Season 3 comes out on dvd!! I will spend that week watching season 3 with my friend Mike and then Season 4 starts on FX on September 6! Can't wait :)

Wk 18 Weigh In

Monday, August 15, 2011

Ok, I know it's Monday and I weighed in on Saturday. But I had computer go down last week and I've been letting my son use my computer until school starts (which was today!!). Have a new computer on the way and I have my days to myself (mostly) again. So on with the show ...

Weight : 272.8 lbs
Lost : 1.3 lbs.
Total : 44.4 lbs

Too much snacking at night this week. It's funny, I can eat pretty well all day, but if I eat too many M&M's at night (or kettle corn or any sweet treat for that matter) my weight will be up the next day. So, I need to not snack at night (which can be difficult).
Then again, I had some delicious kettle corn this week and still lost 1.3 lbs, so I can't be too upset.

Good night Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are ...

    Congrats on the weight loss!

I agree with Karen. it is not always possible to not snack at night but it is good if you can make it healthy or within your calorie range. As for weighting more the next day, it is not what you ate the previous night that put weights on. Remember it takes 3500 calories to gain or lose a pound. and it takes your body more than a day to convert what you ate into stored fat.
Personally there are certain foods that, taken at night, tend to make me retain water. I can "gain" 2 pounds in an evening. to do that I would have to eat 7000 more calories than my daily allowance. But if I drink well the next day, and don't eat those food at night, I'll lose the 2 pounds. So do not use the scale that way. it can tell you that you have been good or bad last night!

Congrats on the loss! And yes, night-time snacking is a bear, for many of us. You're not alone in that, for sure. I've actually taken to planning a night-time snack so that it's healthy(ish) and keeps me within range - seems to help.

Sad news day ... 30 or 31 Americans died over night in Afghanistan. An MH-47 Chinook, piloted by Army Special Operations pilots and crew (160th SOAR) was shot down carrying 22 Navy Seals (members of Seal Team 6), a Seal canine, 3 Air Force Combat Controllers, 7 Afghani Special Forces soldiers and a civilian interpreter. All reported to have perished in the crash. A total of 38 lives lost en route to reinforcing a team already in peril on the ground. May God bless these men and their families.

Back to the weigh in.

Wk 16 Weigh In

Saturday, July 30, 2011

Still hot here in Central California, mid to high 90's mostly. I had kind of a bummer of a week, although I did finally get a paper written for my Ethical Situations in Business class, a paper that I had been putting off for a couple of weeks. Now just have to find out if it passed muster or if I have to refine and polish it some more.

The heat bums me out, makes me want to stay inside all day. I am more of a cool weather person, I prefer the Autumn, with it's cold nights and brisk breezes. Plus there's always football (yay for the lockout being over!) On a football note, if anybody follows the 49ers, their second round draft pick, Colin Kaepernick, hails from my town. My brother coached him in Pop Warner football and some in high school, I worked with him a little in high school in the weight room his freshman or sophomore year. He's a good kid and a hard worker. But I digress ...

Weight : 276.6
Loss : 1.4 lbs
Total : 40.6 lbs

Not a great week, but I am glad to have hit the 40lb lost mark. the Tens (20, 30, 40, etc.) are my little hooray moments :)
So I did it, I have lost over 40 lbs since April 12 when I started on this journey. Much like an airplane that is in trouble and low on fuel, I will continue to jettison all the unwanted weight until I achieve stability.

That's all I got for now, see ya on the flip side.

Congratulations on your 40 lb loss - quite an accomplishment! You are well on your way to goal. I am just starting out & hoping for some big losses at the beginning to get me fired up & motivated. Definitely agree with you about the hot weather - I am a New England girl who loves foliage & the Patriots (but it has been in the 90's here, too). Have a nice weekend. emoticon

40lbs is a great accomplishment, and in only a few months that's amazing! Congraulations. Don't get tripped up on the little things. Obviously you're doing that just fine! ;) Keep it up, you'll be to your goal in no time!
