Wk 67 Weigh In - I'll take it

Saturday, July 21, 2012

What a long week it's been. My dad, brother, son and I did build a fence at my grandmother's house this week. Of course that entailed loading my truck with all of the necessary tools needed for the job Tuesday morning, then unloading those same tools at the house half hour later. Tearing down of the old fence and loading all of the old wood into my truck for a trip to the dump.

Tuesday evening had me at the local lumber company loading my truck with all of the lumber needed to build a new fence. Wednesday had me unloading all of the lumber at the house. We dug post holes, stretched a line from one corner to the other and placed posts. Hung stringers, grass board and finally pickets. Total time was only about 8 hours, but my back and hamstrings were sure barking at me when it was all done.

I only got into the gym twice this week due to all of the other work I was doing so I didn't get much cardio done :(

Let's skip ahead to the numbers:

Weight : 223.0
Lost : 1.2
Total : 94.2

I loss of 1.2 lbs isn't bad considering I didn't get to the gym as often as I like. But this still leaves me 5.8 lbs to lose in 3 weeks to hit the 100 lb loss mark before my trip. Need to average 2 lbs lost per week for three weeks! That was pretty easy when I was around 270, but now it's getting a lot harder to drop that much in a week! Oh well, I'm going to keep trying and see where I end up.

It's Saturday and I'm going to go get some pizza :)

50 Questions (borrowed from NARNIAROSE2003)

Thursday, July 19, 2012

SEXBOBOMB borrowed this little "getting to know you" quiz from LBFROMBUFAD and LULUBELLE65 borrowed it from her and I am borrowing it from her. Because what could be more interesting than a blog all about me? I'll repeat their words here as well -- if you want to steal it from me, be my guest, I'd love to get to know you better!

1. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?
Yes, after my paternal grandfather Kenneth.

Wk 66 Weigh In - Slaying it

Saturday, July 14, 2012

What a week, huh? 100+ degrees almost everyday, hardly any breeze to make it a little more tolerable. A hell of a week to stay inside!

I didn't get to the gym but 3 times this week I think. I know, I know. Last week I said I was going to really hit the gym this week, but circumstances beyond my control took over. I had to go to my grandmother's house and go through the tool shed and see what needed to be thrown out and what should be given away (she's 91 years old and wants to get this stuff done before she takes her long nap). Well, my grandfather (who passed last November) had already gone through it apparently because there was only about 1/3 of the amount of stuff that I remember seeing in there a couple of years ago. Thanks Poppie!!

So with that done, my dad and I set about to other tasks there. The weeds had gotten out of hand outside her back fence in the alley and this is the time of year that the fire department comes around placing notices to remove fire hazards. So, we raked and shoveled an area about 5' wide by 100' long. Whew, it was hot and that sucked! I put ina couple of good hours sweating at her house. Next week my dad and I are going back over to replace half of one of the side fences that is rotted and falling down. (fence is original, from the early 50's, the pickets are 1.25" thick!). My great grandfather was a home builder in the area and my grandfather and a couple of his brothers built this house (and fences!) along with a bunch of other houses in the same area. All top notch materials were used.

So as you can see, I got some of my exercise this week doing heavy yard work and I will get some more next week building a fence, cutting back trees, breaking out concrete, etc.

I just realized, you didn't come here to read about me doing yard work or building fences. You just want to know how my weigh in went, don't you? Well , then, here ya go.

Weight : 224.2
Lost : 2.4
Total : 93

Yep, 2.4 lbs gone this week, hooray!. Plus, as an added bonus I'll throw this at ya; I went shopping today and got some shorts and a pair of casual pants that are size 38. I haven't worn a size 38 since about '95 so I was pretty jazzed about that. Plus, it's the first clothes I've bought since I started this journey. I was relying on mostly old clothes that I had outgrown and had been slowly getting back into. But I had nothing at 38 and only one pair of pants at 40. I also had no good shorts that fit, I only had elastic waist workout type shorts and those aren't cool when you're out on the town!

That's it for today. I need to go get ready for a BBQ at 4. Take it easy and have a great weekend!

I found this quote and I think it fits for all of us who have slipped up on our diets or exercise plans.

Wk 65 Weigh In - Sick

Saturday, July 07, 2012

Another week has come and gone and I sit here typing words, tapping keys hoping to enthrall, encourage and inspire all who come this way.

But the truth is, I'm just not feeling it right now. I was sick early in the week (Sun-Tues) and that really killed my mojo for the week. I had big plans for the gym, had it all laid out what I was going to do each day. But after being sick for the better part of 3 days I was feeling pretty ragged the rest of the week. Lacking energy and motivation. I did get a couple of hours of cardio and a mediocre lifting session in. But I just couldn't push myself.

Anyway, today marks the end of the week and I will attempt to live up to my plans next week. As for this week, let's look at the numbers.

Weight : 226.6
Lost : .8
Total : 90.6

So I managed to lose 8/10's this week. Always good to be moving the number down, but I only have 5 weeks before my trip and I have 9.4 lbs to lose to reach 100lbs lost before I leave. I'm really going to have to get myself squared away if I'm going to make it.

.8 pounds is nothing to scoff at. Granted it may not be what you were looking for but it is not lost ground, it is ground gained. And ground needed to make the next step. Time to refresh your i-Pod and make on to the next level. I highly recommend adding Generation 303 by Nicky Romero and Activator by Rombee for extra driving power. They are in my MP-3 player for when I do my squats and crunches. You have made AMAZING progress and are truly inspirational.

hey, but you know what matters? is that you are picking up and starting again. being sick isnt something to ignore. your body needs time to rest and set itself right, dont rush it if it doesnt feel right. (choir of voices "yes nurse Kelley") lol.
i think you will do just fine. look how far you have come already man! let that be your inspiration, not how far you have to go (which is like, nothing lol!) keep on truckin.

I hear ya! I know exactly where your coming from. Being sick SUCKS! I think I'm going into 4 weeks now. UGH...I'm so over it! I'm finally allowed to workout and the motivation is definitely lacking! It's times like this that you just do it anyway. You may have not given your workout 100% but at least you did it! I think that's HUGE!

Great job on the weight loss! That's AWESOME! I don't believe motivation is something you can have every single day, the goal is exactly what you did...DO IT ANYWAY! You can reach your goal! You're almost there! WOOHOO!

Wk 64 Weigh In - Still Rollin'

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Happy "last day of June" everybody. This month, although it had 5 weekends, seemed to go by pretty fast for me. Perhaps I'm just looking forward to my vacation in August. Tomorrow it will be July and on Wednesday we will be celebrating our country's birthday. Happy Birthday America!

So this week was pretty good. I didn't get in as much gym time as I had last week (just 185 minutes) but I worked pretty hard when I was there. My back is still giving me trouble, but it hasn't been as painful as it was a week ago, so that's good.

Instead of just filling this blog with a bunch of words, I'm just going to get to the numbers. Here are this week's numbers:

Weight : 227.4
Lost : 2.4
Total : 89.8

Just missed hitting 90 lbs lost! I guess I will have to cross that milestone next week. Getting oh so close to the magic 100lbs lost... I'm 20.2 lbs from my original goal and it can't come fast enough.

Sometimes I think about how far I've come and I can't hardly believe it. Despite knowing exactly what I needed to do, I spent years feeling like I would NEVER be in decent shape again, that I would live the rest of my life fat unhappy and alone. While today I am still alone, I am not nearly as fat or as unhappy I was just 15 months ago. Turning your life around is possible, it just takes a while to get it done.
