I turned 41 on March 31, 2011. I signed up for a local Biggest Loser contest on April 11, 2011 and learned about SparkPeople.com from the contest literature. So, here I am and I find it to be very helpful. I used to be a gym rat, ate all the right foods, took supplements and spent 10-15 hours in the gym each week. But then I got injured at work and life went down hill as my weight went uphill.
Reasons why I can't lose weight:
9 knee dislocations
3 shoulder dislocations
2 herniated discs
being a student
lost my business in '08 due to recession
full time single dad to 14 year old son
Reasons why none of that matters:
When everything in life is going wrong, the one thing you can control is how you treat your body. Feed it properly and exercise it and it will respond. Once you are in control of that one thing, you have the strength and confidence to tackle something else.
So start off easy, but get started!
