Rainy Sunday, Need suggestions for organizing a small space.

Sunday, August 07, 2011

I am a speech and language pathologist and my therapy room at school is really a converted closet.

It is packed so much that it is inefficient and looks cluttered.

It was a closet with two shelves along one wall ( which in truth makes some dead space there. One wall has a white board ( which unfortunately now has some permanent marker on it..... suggestions needed there too!)

I am thinking of bringing all of my books home and perhaps everything so that I can put things back in order.

I have a coworker who has an office that used to be a storage oversized closet...her desk is basically an oversized shelf with filing cabinets under it. Her computer sits on her desk so she has her screen sitting on top of it which is good because if it was on the floor she would probably kick it all the time. Her printer is also sitting on top of her in and out bins she just uses the wire organizing units you can buy at walmary or any office supply store. On her back wall is nothing but shelves and in the corner she has a place to stand and write with shelves under it
Hope it helps!

I know they have chalkboard paint, maybe they have some kind of paint you can use with a white marker.
I know that Nail polish remover takes permanent marker off as well as Germ-X, I actually think Germ-X works better!! You have to scrub a lot! hope this helps. but you will need a lot of it!! God Luck!! I actually think the alcohol makes it work!
On second thought Do Not use the Nail polish remover I think it takes off whatever makes the white board work, germ-x is much better!

Have you tried writing over the permanent marker with a white board marker? I have seen that work.

Can the marker be bleached out?

I store stuff in those office storage boxes that can be stacked and labelled. You can put a lot of stuff in a wall of stacked boxes, which is why old files (pre-digital storage) are kept that way.

I'm with you, though. Disorder makes me feel off-balance.

Hmmm....I live in a small space...but luckily it is bigger then a closet...although sometimes it doesn't feel like it! I don't know about the white board....ugh that permanent marker anyway! But, I have always heard that a mirror can make a small space look larger? That's all I've got for suggestions! emoticon

Why is it when someone else weighs me in I stick better to making good choices?

Saturday, August 06, 2011

Why is it when I know someone will know my weight I make better choices?

Why is exercising better when I am part of a Sparkteam challenge?

Why is it that posting all my food choices is easier when I know I will get a sparkpoint?

I had a good weigh in today at weigh watchers. This is my 2nd week each week I have lost. I hope that this continues! Walking the dogs definitely helps!

Accountability comes to mind for me. You also don't want to be embarrassed when you weigh in at wws. I know I sure don't! BLC rocks too!

Beach time and husband health scare

Friday, August 05, 2011

I was able to spend some time at the beach today. It truly calms me.

When I got back my husband tells me he was at the doctor's because he found a lump in his breast. He goes next week to have it removed. We are hoping it is nothing.

Getting in a great deal of walking with 2 dogs!

Wednesday, August 03, 2011

Life is still crazy! The two dogs keep me hoping. I am getting my steps in but I am not getting any work done. I feel like I have a newborn.

Just enjoy your walks with them and be thankful they can walk! My sweet 11 year old Maggie (golden retriever) is suffering from arthritis and neurological problems and can't walk more than a few steps without falling. I still get in the daily walks with her "brother" but also put in pool time with her. Swimming had even become difficult for her but the vet recommended a life vest and she is loving it! I swear she is smiling as she retrieves her toys in the pool! emoticon

Need to check eating under stress

Monday, August 01, 2011

Well my husband is off to a course for the week. This is the first week I don't have two jobs. The dogs can't be walked together or out together so I am getting stressed trying to make things equal for them.

I ate rice cakes with peanut butter but realize it wasn't because I was hungry but because I was feeling stressed!
