Bootcamp update

Sunday, January 04, 2009

Okay I making this for the bootcamp begining. I weight 162 pounds I have added my picture from Christmas YUCK. I don't like my picture being taken as it is not who I am on the inside. Without mirrors I think I look pretty good but then when I see a picture I am reminded that I have added a significant amount of weight and I am looking old, old, old. Got my hair cut at the beginning of the challenge. I am determined to make this work! Okay I went through the pictures and this one was the best but I hate that my kitchen cabinets were open. We were putting the dishes away! Oh well that is the other goal this year is to be more organized!!!

Recent pictures of me knock all the spirit out of me. So I'm not having any pictures taken for now, like you, I forget and think I look better. That's better for my motivation too. Besides when I was thin and younger, some pictures were pretty bad at times too...but I didn't let them define me so why should I now. We can reclaim ourselves and "see" the best we can be in the mirror and the new pictures to come! emoticon

New Year, New Habits: Using my skills from work and applying them to life!

Friday, January 02, 2009

I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest asset or heaviest burden.
I will push you up to success or down to disappointment.
I am at your command.
Half the things you do might just as well be turned over to me,
For I can do them quickly, correctly, and profitably.
I am easily managed, just be firm with me.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine, though I work with the precision of a
machine and the intelligence of a person.
You can run me for profit, or you can run me for ruin.
Show me how you want it done. Educate me. Train me.
Lead me. Reward me.
And I will then...do it automatically.
I am your servant.
Who am I?
I am a habit.

Found this poem, the author is unknown, but I am determined to make some good life choices habits.

I am going to work at like I do my paid work. Setting measureable goals, collecting data and repeating what seems to work until it is 2nd nature. Some of the habits will be exercise, some eating and some staying organized.

I am going to use Sparkpeople to keep the statistics on the habits and those that fall below the expected range will get more concentration. Those that are at 100% for 6 weeks I will consider a habit established!!!!

Ups and Downs and the help of the Lord!

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

As this year ends I am grateful for all the things that the Lord has provided. It has been a crazy year. My husband has needed to change careers after nearly 30 years working for the same firm. It was sold and he was out of work for 9 months. He is working now in a job he loves ( less money but we take it day by day). I feel it was a miracle as it happened after I made a petition to Our Lady of Quadaloupe.

My sisters who both unfortunately have cancer have undergone treatment and things are going well for them. Keep them in your prayers as the battle this dreadful disease.

My parents are healthy and active and invloved in our lives.

My children were all home for Christmas and we had fun.

Thank you .

I look to 2009 to being a renewal year and making things happen!

Family, Fun and Friends

Sunday, December 28, 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas this year! As I said in a previous blog this Christmas was going to be different due to financial limitations. Work also made the time available to shop and prepare limited.

The fun however was wonderful. My older son said that because there was not the pressure of buying that it was more relaxing.

We had company for Christmas which was different. My husbands sisters and their significant others were with us. It did mean something different as my kids said usually after Christmas Mass and opening presents we pretty much relax but this time we needed to straighten out the house and get cooking.

The next day we made up for it. We spent hours singing with PlayStation's sing star and laughing our heads off. Lots of the kids friends came over.

Yesterday I went and visited my parents when we dropped my son off at his home. It was very nice.

The homily at church was about PEACE. That is what I am hoping for the new year!

Counting my blessings, a different Christmas

Sunday, December 07, 2008

This is a very different Christmas. Last Christmas my husband knew that the first of the year he would be out of a job. The business he managed was sold.

It seems as if that we are not alone in a job crisis.

My husband began to take classes in education as he had a degree in Biology and he thought that he would like to be a high school teacher. Money was and still is very tight as we had less money coming in and new expenses with school.

We had a miracle in August. It was the feast of the Assumption of Mary and I was at church and I made a prayer petition to help my husband find employment. He had been substituting but that is not reliable money. We have four children so a steady employment is needed. The next day Bob received a phone call a teacher had come into an inheritance and had left prior to the start of the school year. WOW.

Money is still very tight but my family has rallied around each other and we are happy.

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a wonderful and heatlthy new year.

Beautiful sentiments. That shows what the spirit of Christmas is really about. . . family, love, and support for one another. Glad you all have kept the right positive outlook. That's half the battle of any obstacle.
