Happy Friday! 5K training - here I come!

Thanksgiving is over - but that doesn't mean I stopped being thankful! I am off of work today. Instead of just sitting around doing nothing, I decided to clean the house for my Mom. She is having company over tonight, so I figured I would do it for her. She is working today (always from home so at least I see her).

I did great with my Thanksgiving meal. I made some chicken sausage, butternut squash fries & a sweet potato. I took a picture of what I brought & then what I ended up eating! I added some fresh string beans & homemade cranberries. Yum! My plate was so FULL, but I think I did good. I didn't have any mashed potatoes although they looked delicious. My family kept asking me what I was eating & how to make it. They asked about other healthy things I eat, and they wanted some recipe ideas =) So I didn't feel too weird about bringing my own food. I made the pumpkin spice muffins again. My Aunt made me some strawberry jello too which was nice.

I am at 163.2 today for the 5% challenge! I really hope I can get to 162.5 by next week for the last official weigh-in! If I don't make it, I will be a little bummed.. but I think I have done an awesome job so far, so I can't be too hard on myself! I am sure if I exercised more (instead of being sick) then I may have been there already!

I am all ready to do some 5K training. I am going to the liquor store and food store with my Dad to keep him company! He was nice to me this morning and took my car to get an oil change. Then I am going to head outside before it gets too cold/dark! It is 54 degrees outside! I love it =) I am nervous about jogging again... but I really want to do it. I have my running belt all ready! and I have my new headphones ready too. I am just going to use Pandora on my phone and see how that works out for me.

    Wow!! Your foods looks so yummy !! I love pumpkin spice muffin. Actually I like all the sweet. I used to make peanut butter chocolate brownie and was my favorite. But now, I have learned how unhealthy that was and realized my favorite brownie was giving me all the love handle in my waist. Lol)) I am so glad that I wake up from the illusion life style and emotional eating.
I feel much happier and have lots of energy since I started eating healthy and doing exercise every day. Thanks again for sharing wonderful blog.

I wish I could do a 5K. I love to run, but my 43 year old knees do not! Maybe, once I get some of this weight off as well as finding a good compression sleeve for my knee, I can get back into running! It definitely relieves a lot of stress!

2012 Picture Blog: I am Thankful For.....

After reading a lot of other Thanksgiving Spark Blogs today - my mood is extremely happy & EXTRA thankful now! I saw so many inspiring quotes from this awesome Spark Community! I definitely feel even more thankful for everything I have & everything I have done.

I am getting out of work early today, off tomorrow & Friday. I am super thankful for this amazing job I have. My bosses are real people who treat us so well! I love that they understand we are people who have family & our own responsibilites outside of work!!

Making Thanksgiving everyday...

I went to the Dollar Store during my lunch break today. I got a few Thanksgiving Day cards to give to my family on Thursday. I also stocked up on "Thinking of you" and "Miss you" and "Get Well Soon" cards since I ran out of those the other day. When I can, I like to buy little gifts for my parents and friends. They joke around saying I am trying to buy their love. But I just like making people happy! Even if I just buy their favorite pack of gum... if I can put a smile on someone's face, it makes me smile inside & out!

A few days ago I went through my Facebook contacts and messaged some old friends I barely get to chat with anymore. A few responded.. and I wonder if the rest will even read what I had to say! I know everyone is busy with their own lives. I am thankful for the time I do get to spend with my busy friends!

Life is so crazy - most of my communication is through Facebook or text now. But I am still thankful for the pictures & other times people contact me. Just knowing they are thinking of me makes me happy!

Even though I live at home, I still e-mail my Mom throughout the day if I get the chance. I know she enjoys it & I do too! I am so thankful for my caring parents! They understand I am trying to find myself, and they are so supportive of me no matter what.

I am very thankful for what I already have - My health has been improving overall which is great! I love my family and the couple of close friends I do have. I am even thankful for those I don't speak with anymore. Although we may not be friends anymore, I wouldn't be where I am now without the life experiences I already had.

Although I didn't start my promotion yet, I still love my job. I enjoy my co-workers & I don't dread coming to work! This is the first job I actually feel like I am Friends with some of the people I work with. We have real conversations, and I really appreciate it more than they know.

I am thankful for Spark - every day! This community is amazing. Every comment on my page & blog really help to inspire me to keep moving forward! I am thankful for the Spark Friends I do have! I am grateful for the awesome tools this website offers also! I wouldn't be where I am today without them!

On another note, a few friends and family members keep asking me what I want for Christmas. This happens every year - I never know! I mostly enjoy buying presents for people without them being against it! I thought of a few things: Animal donations, leave in conditioner, mascara, new muffin tins & a food processor. The baking items are really the only things I can tell people! I don't have a tv in the area I stay at, but I don't really want my parents to spend $500 on a TV for me. I would rather get dog training for my dog since he will be 3 and has never been trained! I don't think they like that idea though because they are the ones that would have to follow through with the training the most (they are both home all day with him while I am working).

Hopefully everyone has an amazing Holiday if you celebrate it! I try to be grateful & thankful every day! Even during stressful times, I try to sit back, breathe, and count my blessings! Keep Sparking!

    I love giving gifts too. ~almost~ as much as I like getting them. I'm big on crafts and when I see something I know someone will just love and then I make it and give it to them it is the most rewarding thing ever!

    You are such a sweet lady to your family and co worker, friends and all of us Spark community. Thanks for your kindness and keeping up your blog..sometime, I amazed how some people can go to their work, eat healthy, get her work out, cooks dinner for family, take care her kids, spend time with family member, do keeping up house work and still encouraging fellow sparkler, keeping up her blog. Maybe much more things to do in her daily life. How some people are able to keeping up with all of this every single day. Day in and day out.?? For me, just to keeping up reading and replying some blogs sometimes feels like takes all day. Not I am complaining but enjoying doing so..but just amazing how they finding their time to do all this?? I am so proud of peoples who is doing all the works!! Keep up a good work fellow Sparker!!

Happy Monday! Chilly & Chili!

Good morning Sparkers! I am feeling mostly happy - which is nice. I have a bit of stress floating around in my mind, but I am trying to keep smiling.

I had a pretty lovely weekend. Hopefully everyone else did too! I got some walking & exercising in. I didn't do any 5K training though. I definitely want to get to the park this week sometime - either on Turkey day or on Friday. It will probably be cold, but I won't let that discourage me. I am off both Thursday & Friday woohoo! 4 day weekend yippee! It is pretty slow at work right now, so I am trying to plan out the rest of the Christmas gifts I want to get!

I made 5 kinds of chili yesterday - it took about 4 hours to do all of it. I made beef chili with no onions, regular beef chili, and spicy beef chili. The chili was nice because it got pretty cold last night. It warmed me up! I used tomato sauce & the pre-mix spice packet for the beef chili. I don't eat red meat anymore, but I heard it was good! I also made mild turkey chili & spicy turkey chili. I made some for dinner & also some for my sick Grandmother. She is 92, but LOVES spicy food! Yum! I also made chocolate muffins by using the pumpkin puree. They didn't come out as well as I wanted them too. I had half of one, and it was really chewy. At least they smelled amazing! =)

I had trouble keeping up with my calories this weekend. I went shopping with my Mom Saturday morning, and I didn't get anything to eat before we left. Then, I only had a teeny sandwich for lunch. My whole day was funky. Then yesterday I had yogurt for breakfast but skipped lunch because I was cooking so much! Hopefully I get back on track this week. Sometimes I really hate fitting in time to eat hahaha. I should of had a protein bar yesterday while cooking, but I was too focused!

I am feeling a little stressed today. My Dad has to get another procedure done at the hospital today. They have to alter his pacemaker/defibrillator to make it less sensitive. They have to stop his heart and have it shock it back to working again... crazy. He just got out of the hospital because he was really sick, so I don't know why they want to do this right away. Oh well =( Hopefully it all works out. I wrote him a greeting card letting him know I am thinking about him today!

Hopefully everyone keeps Sparking today! I know I definitely need to get back on my regular eating habits again!

    I do a bean chili that literally is the idea from SP meat...just beans and tomatoes. Never thought I'd like something like that...but I make it several times in the winter and crave it. Very filling. Love the blog....Keep Sparkin'!!!

    Wow! You were really cooking. I made the pumpkin spice muffins w/o water for the potluck. I bought a mini-muffin pan to make them in. No one took them. So I took them around and offered them. Everyone said "what are they?" Then they began to disappear. I, too, found them a little chewy. Good flavor, though. I'm making the chocolate ones for Thanksgiving Day. Had a friend who had to have her heart stopped and restarted. They did it two different occasions. It turned out fine. Hope all goes well with your dad.

And make sure you get your proper calorie intake! you don't want your body to go into starvation mode!

    My MIL has to have a big heart procedure done on November 30. They are going to essentially kil part of her heart. It all sounds so crazy, doesn't it? I'll keep your dad in my thoughts! I'm sure it will all go well. Sorry your muffins didn't turn out like you hoped. All those chilis sound great! I love that your Grandma loves spicy food! I hope I can continue to eat like her! Remember my friend, you need food to energize that new & improved active body! Stop skippig meals! You need fuel!

2nd Half of November: Thoughts & Goals

Happy Friday everyone! I am feeling a bit relieved compared to the other day. I did talk to my ex. Although things are definitely not 100% solved, I did tell him how I feel. He realizes I can't keep getting sucked into his sadness. I feel bad, but I can't keep letting him pull me in to the negativity! He did give me the Zumba dvds I have been asking him for though. I didn't get a chance to check them out to make sure they work- but hopefully they do!

WOW!!! It is almost Thanksgiving! I will be going to my Aunt's house for dinner next week. I am going to bring my own plate with chicken sausage, a plain sweet potato, and plain string beans. My Aunt will only be having candied sweet potatoes & green bean casserole. I will feel silly bringing my own food - but I don't eat turkey & I don't want to upset my stomach by making myself eat the veggies I don't normally eat. I am not worried about going over calories that day - I just don't want to have a stomach episode with my family there!! I won't be having any dessert except for the Pumpkin Spice Muffins I am baking & bringing - and maybe Jello if they have it.

The Fall 5% Challenge ends December 1st! I can't believe half of November is over already! 86.2 pounds gone so far! This challenge has definitely pushed me! Once it is over, I am going to make another goal to get to my 155 healthy weight. I still can't believe I have not had french fries for 8 weeks already!! I started not having them when I first made my challenge goals. I haven't cheated at all & I am so glad. Two more weeks until the challenge is over. I hope I don't start going back to eating them all the time. I HOPE I just have one or two of someone elses.. but I don't want to order them myself anymore.

I didn't end up signing up for a Turkey Trot because of how much training I missed while being sick. If I do want to do a 5K for Thanksgiving, I will do one on my own at the park!

Goals to be met by December 1st:

-Stay within calories ranges
-Lose another 1.5 pounds to reach my 5% weight loss goal
-Do Zumba 4 times (either in class or dvd)
-Re-start 5K training - my next 5K is 12/8!
-Walk on the treadmill Twice (hopefully making myself do it will make me do it more often)
-Add more veggies to my meals so I don't struggle at the end of the day to meet calories
-Try 2 new Spark Recipes
-Stay Positive & Don't give into the Negativity!
-Open my own Savings Account
-Get most of my Christmas Shopping done

Hopefully everyone has a Spark-tacular weekend. Keep Sparking & don't give up even if you go over calories or don't get a chance to work out!

    Those sound like some awesome goals! And there's nothing wrong with bringing your own plate to Thanksgiving! That's actually a pretty awesome idea! If I ever have to go to a holiday dinner this season, that's probably what I will end up doing considering my family are been fans of frying their turkey and loading the sides with butter and whatnot.

    We always bring food on thanksgiving and it just happens that it is healthy. It has become normal so no one asks or says a thing. Just stick with it as it is part of the new you! Looks like you have great goal set . emoticon emoticon

    I like that you are so confident about yourself. This is the way to go. I see how you did lost 86.2 pounds. And so proud of your determination and willing to take extra step to not to do over eat or protect your stomach to not get into trouble. Since you've started your weight loss journey, I know it was not easy. I know that more you tray, it get easier for eating healthy to getting exercise. But still there are so much temptation to get off the track. For me everyday is a challenge still. So again, i am so proud of your determination and your achievement !!     Great plan and goals! I think you should reconsider your decision to not do a Turkey Trot though. You can do it as a training run, and walk/run it if necessary, and I think you'll find the energy of the race very motivating. Just my two cents though.

    You're such a great, positive, active SparkFriend! Sounds like you have everything worked out and you're doing so wonderfully I don't really have anything to add except stay strong, don't worry about bringing your own food, I've already found with my no alcohol challenge that people are reacting much more positively than I anticipated, and KEEP. IT. GOING!!!
