Don't I rock a black eye well? Good news is it is getting better (ie I was going to smack anyone with a camera on Monday morning when it was UGLIER). Watch out for those killer nightstands - they are MEAN!

In true form, this summer has been NUTS! I have been nonstop running, between babysitting the neighbor kids, watching Aliegh for basically half the week (or more), and then you toss in an out of town/state visitor or two. Mix all that up with a crazy (not in a good way) landlady who has not done a darn thing on my the mess of my downstairs.

I am still living in half of my house (but wait for it... paying full rent). It makes me feel so warm and fuzzy when I see all of my belongings sitting under a tarp outside, spread across my wrap around deck, and down the stairwell leading to my downstairs. I am functioning without a washer and dryer - thank god my neighbor took pity on me so I don't have to go to a laundry mat because we all know my schedule needs that task added to it. My landlady has decided 6 weeks after my downstairs was demolished that she doesn't deal with contractors because SHE IS a contractor. Explains ALOT about the prior issues with the house...just saying. We think her plan is to work on the place on her days she isn't teaching college PE. We are laying money she wants to live downstairs while she does this and be able to freely use our bathroom upstairs and kitchen. But the kicker - she expects us to continue to pay full rent. Oh yeah this sooo works for me.

Needless to say, we are semi looking for a new place. All complicated by the fact that I am scheduled for surgery on the 22nd. Everyone should ponder moving when they know they are going to be laid up for 3 months. It rocks the blood pressure which right now is too high for my normally laid back 100/60. Thanks to my lovely concussion and black eye, I am dealing with headaches right now (and evidently my blood pressure was kinda ugly). So I am suppose to be resting and recuperating. See how well this is working? I fell and hit the nightstand by my bed. How did I fall? Well when you have one foot waiting for fusion and ya mix it up with a narrow space (have Aliegh's playpen in the area) and then ya toss in one BIG weimaraner named Abe = hello splat~!

I never thought I would be looking forward to summer winding down but I am. School starts on the 9th. My last set of houseguests (who shall be sleeping on an air mattress in my dining room) arrive on the 4th and leave on the 9th. I need to pull together my household and set up for being stuck unable to walk for 3 -4 months. I am kinda looking forward to being stuck in bed - at least for a week. Then I will be plotting how to escape again which I am sure Abe will be there to help. I am thinking rigging up some kind of harness with him so he can pull me around. Of course this only works if he doesn't get distracted by shinies, bicycles, squirrels, food, a cloud...

And the last bit - here is Ms Aliegh who is going to be 6 months old in a week. She is rolling over, scooting backwards, digging sweet potatoes, loves giving kisses and thinks her grams should be constantly entertaining her or at least within sight.

Lately I have been bonking about mid afternoon in my energy level. My initial response is WHY??? Then after a few moments I remember why and smack myself. I am rolling out of bed every morning to go across the street to babysit and tend to my neighbor's household. I bounce between 2 houses on getting things done, ie dishwashers unloaded/loaded, laundry processed, meals for the kids tended to, dinners planned and started - and of course entertaining the troops, aka the 3 kids and 2 dogs walked. I am enjoying teaching the kids various craft projects, working with the parents on expanding their dinner (and lunch choices with some planning), and figuring out other activities the kids can do. But I do tend to forget that I am also waiting around for a surgery on my foot that is blown out every morning, settles down after awhile and then blows out come evening. Oh and then add Ms Aliegh to the mix which lately I have had her with me more than not. So for now I have taken to adding an extra cup of coffee to my morning and/or adding a sugar free energy drink in the late afternoon. Not the best coping mechanism but hey a nap is out of the question (as is diving into some other food item I shouldn't be eating). Ms Aliegh, on the other hand, thinks a nap is JUST what she needed on the 4th of July.

Unexpected turn

These last couple of weeks have been full of sun, beachtime and hanging out with friends and neighbors. Add to this TONS of stress. My way of handling the stress hasn't been with eating for once but with hiding out at the beach, reading some books and venting to my girlfriends. I found out yesterday that my daughter and her husband were being evicted (and a judgement brought against them in court). They have until the 12th to get their stuff out. They had their electricity turned off 2 weeks ago and have been temporarily staying with his mother in an one bedroom apartment. Now they are basically homeless with no options since neither are working. So my husband, myself and my son sat down to try to come up with a viable solution to try to help but also to lay down some boundaries to prevent ourselves from being sucked in (since neither of the adults are making appropriate choices or decisions). I just bought an used travel trailer which I was going to put on our property we have in the mountains. Now it will be sitting on my son's property with my daughter, her husband, Ali, and 2 boston terriers all living in it. We have given them a couple months in the trailer which should be enough time to find work and figure out a living situation. I will be close enough (10 minute drive) to help with Ali and my son will keep an eye on the situation (and won't hesitate to call his sister out for being a derelict).

I will have Ali for this week while they go and pack up, and deal with storage. Gives me plenty of time to take more pictures, fatten her up and of course love on her. These pics were from 2 weeks ago.

Life is very crazy right now. I just may end up with Ali for a few months which is totally fine by me since ultimately I just want what is best for her. She is quite adorable!
