Busy day. Going to bed.

And isn't neat how today was 09-09-09! Last time we will see repeating single digits until 01-01-2101, nearly a century from now. Hope yours was an auspicious day! (Stay tuned we do have 10-10-10 coming up 11-11-11 & 12-12-12...then we all better live a very long time.)

Reaching to Fall with Open Arms D25-A10-W11-N10-E10-01.0-S51/2993

Tuesday, September 08, 2009

I've opened my arms to Fall.

I'm going to see all the positive of the season, so I've changed my background to reflect that this is not the loss of summer - rather the harvest. Zucchini, tomatoes, onions, carrots, egg plant, squash, peppers. This is the season of a steaming cup of vegetable broth after the crisp trail walk. This is the season to use the indoor days to explore hot yoga and dance classes. This is the time to use weights.

My scale is my irritating feedback system that jumps back up after teasing me the day before with good results. However, trusty tape measure shows two INCHES off the waist. My logical side knew this as I got into a pair of pants that didn't fit before and my normal jeans required a belt in order to not drag on the ground. Inside I know the secret that my weight is higher because I just drank a very full (32 oz) glass of water to help me during my walk.

I normally think of Fall as the dreaded time of getting ready to scrape ice, shorter days, and laziness. I've started getting ready by filling my cupboards with healthy can soups (Safeway Select and Amy's), filling the freezer with healthy vegetables and making a plan to keep moving just a little bit when I can. Five minutes here and there really add up.

My hopes your direction that you can find the warmth in this season that allows you to grow in heart and muscle!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I love fall. We have a place close by in the mountains we make an annual trip to called Apple Hill. There's food, crafts, train rides, etc.....and of course apples. There's a bunch of different places to go and we have our favorites. We're bringing the puppy up with us this year. And one of the best hikes into the woods...wear old tennis shoes because the red dirt stains, but I looooove it. also, one of my fav things to cook is soup. I have a selection of healthy recipes of soup that my family loves and I will share when I get time. My fav? "skinny Tortilla Soup"...yum! emoticon emoticon

Reluctant Hamster D25-A8-W9-N9-E10-98.2-S31/2993

I didn't want to move today. But I got up and started a walk. Ten minutes into it I wanted to stop, but I kept going. Then I almost went home, but I took a walk down a different street. After getting home and taking a water break, I wanted to sit down. But I got up and drove out of town. I would stop and take another walk, drive further and take another.

I was a very reluctant hamster all day long. My internal voice was nagging to give up, BUT somehow at the end of the day I did a lot. Dang wheel, it gets a reluctant hamster to move.

911 Hamster D24-A9-W8-N7-E1-00.0-S15/2993

Sunday, September 06, 2009

I woke up from a dream this morning where I was going down and up stairs and my legs were getting so tired I couldn't move - I was also getting leg cramps. I woke up to find our dog laying on my legs and they really were cramping.

I got up and walked into the shower. I have a shower radio and started listening to this segment about a person from the ground that had video taped the events on the now famous 911 day.

It was a horrible mixing of my recent dream memories with the reality reflection. I started sobbing in the shower. Those poor people. I wonder how many were having leg cramps as their hearts were racing attempting to escape. There are more thoughts that I had, but it is hard not to reinjury people with the overwhelming fright of that day.

My hamster-self has decided to attempt doing one flight of stairs for every person that died in the tower that day (if I were to finish by the end of the month that would be about 85 a day), so I will just keep with it until I'm done. I normally only do 5 forced minutes of running stairs, I hope this motivates me to push in just a few more flights each day. So you will see one more number being added to my code above S=flights of stairs/over total that lost their lives 2,993.

May my heart find some resolve by doing this.

I walk up and down 30 flights of steps 3 times a week anyway, but i don't often think about the lost lives that day. I do often pray while i'm walking, and today I'll definitely think of them and the strong and brave who risk everything for us every day.
Thanks for the reminder

Kissed Hamster XXOO D23-A7-W12-N5-E0-98.9

Sunday, September 06, 2009

Backwards blog for Saturday. Hamster attempted to go on vacation, but found it was quickly turning back all progress.

I forgot to take my medicine this day, layed around, didn't move, ate too much iron and food ....

The best part of the day is that, the Hamster - ME! got kissed. Almost as good as exercise for a rush.
