I joined Weight Watchers!

Saturday, January 17, 2009

Well, I joined Weight Watchers this morning.

I am going to follow the plan for 3 months and then reevaluate at the end of that time. It's $40/month for unlimited meetings and the eTools, so I am going to hold off on re-joining the gym for now and do my exercise at home and at work (where I have a treadmill now!)

I've decided that I'm not ready to have a gastric bypass...I just don't want to have my insides rearranged! I think that's part of the reason why I've actually GAINED since I was accepted into the bariatric program through my insurance instead of losing their required 5% - I just don't want to take that step and then possibly suffer for the rest of my life from one of the many (but rare) side effects and/or complications. If I do all the work NOW that I would have to do after WLS (when my very LIFE would depend on it!) then I WILL lose weight.

I am sooooooo tired of counting calories. I think the point system with Weight Watchers will be much easier. And the weekly accountability of actually going and weighing in will keep me in check, I think.

I really like the Weight Watcher eTools makes it SO easy to track my points!

I'm definitely going to stay active with Spark People, just not track my nutrition through SP. I WILL be tracking my fitness and keeping up with my SP friends and my teams! There is NOTHING like the support and encouragement that is available here and I'm NOT giving that up!

I think you'll love weight watchers! I have done it before and I still use some of the practices now. I lost 20lbs with it last time. I just have a problem with keeping it off!

Treadmill at Work!

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Wooooo-hoooooo! I've brought my treadmill to work! It wasn't doing anything at home except serving as a clothes hanger (nyuk-nyuk) and I got approval to bring it in to work and put it in an out-of-the-way place!

This is what I'd really prefer:

But with the state budget being slashed to the bone, that's definitely out of the question!

Now everytime my butt feels like it's getting numb, I'll just go walk on the treadmill for a few minutes!

That is great!!!! That is going to give you lots of little opportunities to get a few steps in and we all know, those steps will add up!

Your boss is AWESOME! I love that he said YES to the treadmill at work! Now every time that pesky petitioner dude drops by you can walk away your frustrations.... MWAH HAHAHAH!

Hubby's Splat Results

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Well, my hubby's fine, thank GOD, after his fall at work on Sunday. It could've been soooooo much worse!

Amazing, after 21 years running up and down 50 foot ladders and scampering over catwalks, this is his FIRST on-the-job injury. Again, thank GOD it wasn't worse...much, much worse!

One Week Ago

Sunday, January 11, 2009

One week ago, I felt nearly hopeless.
One week ago I ached all over.
One week ago it was a struggle to walk up or down the stairs of my home.
One week ago, I was out of control with my eating.
One week ago, eating 10,000 calories in one day was not uncommon.
One week ago, it hurt to walk for 10 minutes.

In the last week I have averaged less than 1400 calories per day.
In the last week, I have exercised on purpose for over 175 minutes.
In the last week, I have logged over 40,000 steps on my pedometer.

After one week, my aches are nearly non-existent!
After one week, I can trot up and down the stairs at pain!
After one week, I feel like my eating is much more under control.
After one week, I enjoy wearing my pedometer and racking up the steps.
After one week, I can do a brisk 2 miles with Leslie Sansone - in 24 minutes!

What a difference just one week can make.

Wii Fit for 2009!

Sunday, January 04, 2009

HILARIOUS how close the Mii's come to how we really look!

So, I've got the Wii Fit...even though I've been quite inactive on the photo shows of the whole family of Mii's snoozing away.

I just got the Fitness Coach...I've got 4 or 5 new Leslie Sansome DVD' new batteries in my HRM, got my pedometer ready to go....I WILL start exercising EVERY SINGLE day at home BEFORE I go to work!

Gads, I even took my measurements for the Fitness Coach. Blech! I'm definitely straight up and down...same exact measurement for chest, waist and hips!
