Update after seven weeks back

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

So I have been back on Spark for 7 weeks and I think I have done pretty well. I have exercised at least six days a week since January 4th and have only gone over my calories one time in February.

I have only weighed myself one time since being back, on February 1st. I lost 7.4 pounds! Will weigh again on March 1st. I am trying not to get so wrapped up in the scale. I feel like I am doing well. My jeans actually fit, they were too tight when I started and I think I feel a bit more energetic. It is hard too tell sometimes because I stay up too late doing school work and then I feel tired.

Speaking of which I should get to bed now.

Have a great week!

I have been at this for four weeks

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

And I still haven't weighed myself. I decided to weigh on the first of each month, less disappointing that way. Anyway I feel like I am doing well. My clothes seem like they are fitting me. I don't want to say "fitting me better" because they did not fit before, they were too tight. So I guess I lost a size even though I don't need to buy new clothes. I don't know if I feel better health wise or any other wise but I guess that takes time. I think once I get my sleeping under control it'll get better. Hard to get to sleep early with all the school work I need to do. Speaking of which...time to hit the books!

Exercise:

five days (fell asleep friday after school)
Walking: 0 miles ...it's still cold here!
Trainer: 54 miles

Nutrition: Met calorie goals 7 days Streak 26 days!!!!

See you next week,

m

I don't like weighing myself either! I haven't done it in three weeks. I said I would do it Monday but then I got sick over the weekend. I may do it each 2-3 weeks. Let me know how it goes!!

So I went to this gathering tonight...

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

The Vice-Chairwoman of the department invited a bunch of us over for a casual get together tonight. My first time out to someone's house with food since coming back to Spark. I baked some tollhouse cookies with peanut butter and chocolate chips to bring with me. I am happy to say that I planned out my day not even knowing what would be served and I ended up coming in within range today, upper end of range but not over. I also only ate one cookie and left the rest there so no temptation! I planned all my meals and then just had a taste of a few things at the party. Came home and tracked it all. I still had enough calories left to have a cup of tea with milk and sugar. Yeah!

Today was a planned day off from exercise. Usually I take off Tuesday but since I knew that I was going to be busy all day I exercised yesterday so I would feel okay taking today off. Yeah!

Yesterday was the first day of classes for the semester. I have so much to do between classes, research (I am working on two projects) and writing a paper. I am still determined to stick to my sparkpeople plan. I purposely made it uncomplicated so it should be too hard. Except for finding an hour each day to exercise...I will do it though.

Been bringing leftovers or salad to school in my Bento Bottle. This works out pretty well. The Bento bottle has three compartments that are like jars so I can get a good variety but each container is small so it is hard to over do it. No wonder why the Japanese are slimmer than us Ameriacans.

i still have reading to do for tomorrow, so my stats for the week:

Exercise:

Six days (took Wednesday off)

Walking: 0 miles ...it's cold here!
Trainer: 68 miles

Nutrition: Met calorie goals 7 days Streak 19 days!!!!

See you next week,

m

Another week done

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

My exercise this week:

So I have managed to get through two weeks. I am starting to get used to it. I still have resisited the urge to weigh myself and I think it is what is keeping me on track, I know that I will be expecting to see at least some results and I don't want to be disappointed. I will weigh in on January 31st, one month after I started back.

Back to school is kind of hard. I went in Monday and Tuesday. I did pretty good and prepared my lunch in my Bento lunch jar along with a piece of fruit. Only problem is that I ate it at noon and I was so hungry by the time dinner rolled around. I need to fit in a more substantial afternoon snack especially since school will be in full swing next week and I won't be able to eat breakfast late like I do when I am home.

I made a decision to buy 10 sessions with a personal trainer at the gym at my school when I successfully complete a month on Spark. It is pretty inexpensive since I am a student and cheapest if you purchase a ten session package. Anyway I am totally intimidated by strength training and that is what I would like to work on. Cardio is simple enough I can just get on the bike. I am pretty confident there and throw in intervals etc...

So my stats for the week:

Exercise:

Six days (took Tuesday off)

Walking: 11 miles
Trainer: 24 miles

Nutrition: Met calorie goals 7 days

See you next week,

m

Back for a week so far so good

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

So i haven't changed my spark page yet but I am ashamed to say that I gained back that 60 pounds and a few more. Busy couple years but really no excuse. Anyway no sense dwelling on that.

I have decided to come back to sparkpeople because it is what worked. Toyed with the idea of creating a whole new page but decided not too.

Just doing things a bit different this time. Last time I didn't blog or anything and I weighed myself almost everyday. Since I really want to do this to feel better about myself I figured I will do these two things differently. I will try to blog at least once a week and weigh in only on the first of the month. I know it seems like it is not very often but those half pounds up and down or one or two pound temporary gains really discourage me so I decided that I'll trust myself to know when I am doing well and feeling good. Then once a month I can see a decent number (hopefully). I am aiming for a pound a week so 4 or 5 pounds will make me happy and hopefully keep me motivated.

I am also trying to mix up my exercise a bit. I really only like to bicycle but I am set on trying to walk a bit and maybe do some kind of strength training. Right now I started walking and I will deal with strength training next month.

My exercise this week:

Walking: 3 miles
Trainer: 6 miles

Nutrition: Met calorie goal 7 days

See you next week,

m
