saying goodbye to another loved one .....

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

When you come from large families (on both sides of your family tree), someone is always sick and, sadly, the deaths seem to come more frequently. Last night my Uncle Jack died. He was quite old (late 80's) and in poor health but seems like the last couple of years my family has been losing someone every few months. Most of these have come from my mother's side of the family and I've been worried about her for months because she's been in a deep depression since 2 relatives died over the summer. She feels like all the people she loves is dying. Not sure how to help her, she won't even consider seeing her doctor. Tell your loved ones what they mean to you while you still can, you just never know.

In other news ....

I lost 4 lbs but 2 have come back on. Maybe it's because TOM is only a week away. Disappointing but I think I'm becoming numb to it, I used to cry from frustration, now I just mostly feel numb. Not sure what that means but I know it can't be good.

Tomorrow is another day ...

    I'm sorry, Kelly... I loved reading the wonderful comments you've already gotten from such beautiful friends. Friends are a treasure aren't they?

Kellygirl..it's a process, and there's nothing wrong with where you are IN that process right now..so whether you are numb or feeling down about those 2 pounds, focus on what you are doing RIGHT. You've maintained a BIG weight loss for 2 years+. That, in itself is progress. You lost that 4 pounds, and as long as we keep focusing on those good choices, we'll see more drop off eventually. We'll HEEHAW our way to health! :P Love you! {{{HUGS}}}

    hi Kelly,

((((kelly)))) I am terribly sorry for your loss.

I am also sorry to hear that you feel numb about the weight loss. I wish I had the answer for all of us. (Dont we all?) But i do believe that we have to be kind and forgiving of ouselves. Love ourselves. then take baby steps in the right direction. i know it gets old to think like that. I really really do. but dont give up on yourself.
love you~

    I am sorry to hear you have lost still another loved one. Losing anyone you love is hard, and when they are related it seems to be even more difficult.

When my sister died this summer, we gathered around and realized that all our lives, it was about the living, having babies, raising families, building our nests. And now we have come to the other season...the season of harvesting and dying.

Our experts say, the way to handle the depression that comes from this realization is to keep oneself active. This will keep the brain working and it won't have time to reflect on the sorrow... accomplishing even small tasks for the elder parent, is uplifting to their very souls. My MIL is 96 and is really in her age of dying... all she wants to do is think about how lonely the world has become... we try to keep her active with daily exercises and music to dance to visiting as often as we can, since she lives 55 miles away.

Good luck with your family.

Marjorie

finally found a salad dressing I like!

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

After trying every kind of 'diet' ranch salad dressing I could find and being disappointed over and over again, I found a new one yesterday and it really IS good so this is my product endorsement!

Bolthouse Farms Creamy Yogurt Classic Ranch Dressing
1 serving = 2 TBS

70 calories
6 fat
2 carb

    Hmm..that sounds familiar...I wonder if my store carries it. I know what you're saying about salad dressings...seems like all the "diet" ones are nasty, so why bother? It's worth the calories to not endure that TASTE! emoticonPleh!

I will be on the lookout for this , Kel! Can't wait to try it!

You are the right people ......

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Here's the quote from today's healthy reflection (I love that email):

''Keep away from people who try to belittle
your ambitions. Small people always do that,
but the really great ones make you feel that
you, too, can become great.'' (Mark Twain)

~~~***~~~***~~~***~~~***~~~
It says to surround yourself with the right people. People who are genuinely happy for your success.
''The pages of history are heavy with tales of the misguided who were proven wrong while insisting something couldn't be done. Why put up with that? Believe in your goals enough to know that you shouldn't stomach people who don't. It's okay if you're the only one who believes in your dream. But someone who truly believes in YOU should help you believe that if anyone can do it, you can.''
I have awesome sparksisters and I know they want to see me reach my goals, just as I want the same for them. What a great site SP is, so much support, so much encouragement, so much success!!!
today's healthy reflection & measurements ....
Wednesday, October 14, 2009
**~~**~~**~~**~~
''The ultimate measure of a man is not where
he stands in moments of comfort, but where
he stands at times of challenge and controversy.''
(Martin Luther King Jr.)
**~~**~~**~~**~~
I did my measurements today after too many months of avoiding it. The results were not pretty but they are what they are so this is it:
Hips 60.5 --- OUCH!! emoticon
Waist 51.5 --- OH, that hurts! emoticon
Neck 17.25 --- Ah heck! emoticon
R. Arm 17.75 --- Boy oh boy! emoticon
L. Arm 19.25 --- Ick! emoticon
R. Thigh 28.5 --- Don't like it! emoticon
L. Thigh 28.5 --- Say it ain't so!! emoticon
Yep, I've definitely got my work cut out for me!
Spark made changes in the measurement section, I found I can even log in my blood pressure and blood sugars! Very cool!!!
Tomorrow is another day ... emoticon
