Just a few rambling thoughts.....

I hit the gym on Friday right after work. A minute into my run, I hear "bam, bam, bam, bam". I took out my ear buds to see if that was me running that hard, and oh nay nay, it wasn't me. It was the guy four treadmills over. He was really booking! I felt sorry for the balls of his feet.

Shortly after that, cell phone guy got on a treadmill next to me. I figured he was wrapping up a call but oh nay nay, he talked for 15 minutes AND he even put his caller on speaker while he took off his shirt! DUDE!

Saturday, I was at a store that specialized in sewing machines. I was not there for sewing machines but I'll leave out those boring details. I noticed cute little gadgets on the counter. A tape measure and thumb drive in one. The woman working there told me its only two gig because that's what the machines handle.

Excuse me, I'm sorry, what did you say, a sewing machine takes a thumb drive??? I have not used a sewing machine since Home Ec class over 30 years ago. Sewing machines are now thousands of dollars with touch screens and downloadable trademarked images like Disney. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!

As an anniversary present, my husband bought tickets to see Jeff Dunham and a hotel stay Saturday night. If you are not familiar with him:

Too bad I couldn't earn spark points for laughing so hard for two hours that my cheeks were sore after the show. We did briskly walk the two, cold city blocks from the hotel to the civic center and back. So I got my steps in for the day.

After we got home this afternoon, I thought, I'll just watch a couple episodes of the NCIS marathon and then go to the gym. An hour later when I woke up, I thought maybe tomorrow but then I read some blogs on SP and got the motivation to get my tuckas to the gym.

While running and wishing I was still on the couch immersed in the NCIS marathon, I noticed a woman on an elliptical in front of me going very very slow. I wished I had her butt! She got off, turned to walk away and that's when I saw she was EXTREMELY pregnant! Boy did I feel lazy for wishing I was still on the couch!

    Haha, that is crazy about the sewing machines! That's how I feel about kids toys these days. (I mean, I literally just got my first touch screen phone lol.) The kids I work for always have cool high tech stuff, and when they bust it out and show me how it works I'm just like........... wow. Even like their video games are different. I can't believe how far some stuff has come!

Oh man, I totally get you on the gym guilt lol. Especially when I'm just bee bopping along, and I see someone doing this super intense workout, and I'm like, "Oh tryin to show off..." And then they bust out their workout, fill up their shaker bottle w/ water and protein powder, change into business clothes and head back to work like they were just on their lunch break. I'm like, Okayyyy I'm a bum lol! I also follow a lot of fitness competitors on facebook, and I'll get back from my weak cardio session and teensy bit of weight training, and I see their status updates like, "Hitting the gym for round 2! Back and legs! Sprints tonight!" I'm like MAN, I feel so lazy!!!! LOL

No Excuses!

I planned to go to the gym last night after 7:30 when the crowd starts to thin. After dinner my husband and I watched Hawaii 5-O that we had recorded. I was chilly and curled up with a blanket then our lab curled up next to me. A great end to a hectic day!

That's a bad move when you plan to go to the gym! I had just posted on Facebook to another fitness challenge "no excuses Tuesday". Not even sure where that came from, just popped out.

After Hawaii 5-O, I drug myself off the couch, pulled a sweatshirt over my tank top and put jeans and boots on so I would be warm and dry for the drive home.

I got to the gym and noticed they still hadn't corrected the hot and humid temp in there they messed up last week. UGH! I told myself to suck it up, good practice for the Warrior Dash I am registered for in the summer.

I noticed in the locker room that I forgot my workout pants. ARGH! I thought 'I'm skipping this, I'm tired anyway!' Then I remembered my Facebook post, "no excuses Tuesday". Grrrr! Blast my stupid Pollyanna attitude!

So I went home, got the pants and went back to the gym. Running back and forth through the cold parking lot woke me up.

i decided I'd only run a mile but actually I had a good 3 1/2 mile run. A little bit of walking to catch my breath for 30 seconds here and there but then I pushed myself to hit 6.0 and 6.2 for speed which is unheard of for me. A few times when I knocked the speed down to 5.0 it felt slow! SHUT UP! SO COOL!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, some of my best workouts happened when I thought I was too tired or conditions were not quite to my standards!

I have to remember my "no excuses" post each day!

    LOVE THIS! Good for you for breaking out of the warm couch! That really is something to be proud of all on it's own. But then you overcome obstacles and had an even better than planned work out! This is the best kind of exercise. It's makes you strong on the inside!

Turning it around!

It's been a whirlwind couple weeks. So glad to say buh bye to January.

I work full time and then some most days. My husband works evenings so he takes care of a lot of household and dog chores.

Two weeks ago, right before he went out of town for a week to visit his ill father, a tree branch crashed through my back car window. I worked from home while waiting for the glass guy to fix it.

Since our dog is not used to being home alone all day, I left a little later in the morning to go to work and came home a little earlier in the evening then worked from home to keep up. Then there was laundry and a workout here and there! Thank goodness for spark people videos!

The day after my husband came home, he got sick. So I handled dog duties again this week (we do not have a fenced in yard, I have to go out with her in the cold, on the lookout for coyotes, skunks and possums. I'm a big scardicat!), leaving work early and working from home.

Last night after I got home from work, for some reason I could not get warm so I bundled up on the couch and the eating frenzy began plus falling asleep off and on.

This morning, the dog woke me up at 5:30 so I pushed myself to get it in gear and got to the gym for a three mile run and worked the leg machines!

I feel better now. My husband is finally starting to feel better after all week. I'm going to brave the snow and the crowds shortly to go grocery shopping. I'm crazy going out there the day before Super Bowl. Since we can't make it to the party we usually go to, I told my husband I would make him chili for the game. The anxiety should help burn a few calories!

I have 42 more days until the St. Patrick's day 5K in my area! I need to keep pushing!

    I appreciate you mentioning your gratitude for SP videos, since I will be trapped at home without a car for two weeks and no way to get to the gym. Plus my membership is on hold from FEB15 to MAR 15, so I will remember now I can spice things up with the site workout videos.

    Wow wow wow that's a lot! I agree... January was a bust. Thank God it's over!!! I was thinking of doing this St. Patricks Day 10K in Columbus. I wish it was free lol! Thats the only thing holding me back. What's your time goal for your 5K?

I'm watching a couple episodes of The Biggest Loser. I've caught a few minutes of the show here and there over the years and my admiration for all of the contestants over the years continues!

I have been working on my weight and fitness for over 20 years but I have never had the weight issues that they have all faced. They put themselves out there to get the help they need in such a public way.

It's amazing to me. They get on a scale in front of millions of viewers in shorts, bra tops and bare chested! Such drive, such courage. Every time I watch, I'm pulling for all of them to succeed and cry when the get sent home.

It reminds me of all of you, everyone on this website. Everyone is on here to improve their health and self esteem. Some days it works, some days it doesn't. Some people have a little to lose, some people have a lot. Some people stick with the website tools consistently and some people keep starting over.

I just want to say to everyone reading this that you are amazing no matter where you are in your quest to get healthy. I read posts and blogs and I think it's truly wonderful how hard everyone works and keeps coming back.

I congratulate all of you and I hope you have a great week!

I have 58 days until the St. Patrick's day 5k and spring will be here in 62 days! Cue the Swedish band Europe singing Final Countdown!

No more winter hibernation mindset for me! I am going to focus on a springtime activity mindset from here on out.

On my bulletin board over my desk at work, I have the 5K flyer posted and I wrote my time from last year on it (34:25). I also have two inspirational quotes: A year from now, you will wish you had started today by Karen Lamb and Being an athlete is a state of mind which is not bound by age, performance or place in the running pack. by Jeff Galloway.

Now cue Alicia Keys singing This Girl Is On Fire!

If you don't already, pick a goal to achieve by the first day of spring, even if it's as small as organizing your junk drawer or as large as running a marathon. Take baby steps every day to get there!
