I did it, I pushed myself to run six miles this morning. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! I was going to try this Friday after work but unexpected rain rolled through and I cut it down to four miles. I have to say, it was kind of fun to run in the rain for a few blocks, I felt like a kid for a few minutes.
DH went out on a group motorcycle ride this morning. I am on call for work so I had to stay behind. After he left early this morning, I grabbed my coffee and the remote ready to settle in for some veg time. But I said to myself, "okay, let's do this", and got dressed to run.
It was a bit windy in spots, making me tire out. I had to keep telling myself this is good training for the 10K I will be doing in November along Lake Shore Drive (Chicago, Il).
After three miles, I was toast with the wind so I made a deal with myself, go ahead and walk for a few seconds at the end of each song, then pick it back up. That worked really well. The last half mile was very difficult. I tried a trick to distract myself that I learned during the SP four-week stress busting challenge. I looked around and identified colors of the trees, cars houses, anything I saw around me. That helped.
When I got home, my Labrador was anxiously awaiting her 20-minute walk. Ugh! I got that done and then I did the SP nine-minute seated upper body video, then a wonderfully long shower.
I was all set to sit and read when DH sent me a text message that the people he was riding with were coming back to our house. Ugh! Thanks to the SP Flylady team, I didn't have too much to do to make the house welcoming.
I finally sat down to read my book in the back yard with a cup of green tea. It's a beautifully mild, sunny day here in the Chicago area.
DH came home alone. Everybody decided to head home. So it will be a nice, quiet evening before the crazy work week begins again.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and a great end of June.

It was definitely a Monday. A certain group of people will not take accountability for their own actions so they blame others. My department is guilty until proven innocent. So I left work a little late producing documentation to prove them wrong.
The weather was nice driving home, sunny and humid but I decided to go running since I still have not run in hot weather yet this season. It would be a great way to release my frustrations! No clean running pants, bummer. Okay, put the shorts on, its warm and humid after all. Who cares what I look like. So unlike me!
I walked out the door while setting up the MapMyRun app and noticed it was suddenly dark. I looked up, lightening, large, dark clouds. Okay, back inside. As soon as I shut the door, BAM, big thunder and driving rain. If I had left work on time, I would have been out in that! Phew!
Okay, plan B. I got the SP 28 Day bootcamp 30-minute total body challenge set up to go after I finished 15 min on the elliptical. Five minutes into it, the power blipped out. Internet, phone and cable out for a few minutes.
Then work paged me. Yikes, no Internet. I called a co-worker to take care of the call for me. The Internet came back but my work applications, not so much! I spent three hours working with my network staff trying to help me and also trying to figure things out on my own. Nothing! I was missing the Blackhawks game. Grrrr!
I finally heard from my director that I'm not the only one with this issue. They are trying to figure out what happened. So I finally sat down for the last five minutes of the Blackhawks game... Whooohooo! Blackhawks are the Stanley Cup champions! Sorry Boston friends!
So my workout plans were squashed BUT I did not get caught in an unexpected, horrible storm AND I got to see the best part of the hockey game.
I was quite the grump all day and this evening so I kept repeating in my head a line I read once... "You did not have a bad day. You had a few bad moments that you held onto all day."
Tomorrow is another day.

Happy Sunday to all
Weekends fly by so fast huh?! I'm not ready for Monday!
Friday, zero energy after work. I drove home thinking about comfy clothes and the remote. I was listening to some Spark People radio podcasts on the way home and heard spark member ~indygirl, whose blogs I have been following for several months. If you don't know her story, I suggest you stop by her page and read some blogs. I dare you to then come up with an excuse for not getting healthy
Shortly after hearing her interview, I saw a license plate that read "psych up". So that was it, I got home and I immediately changed into running clothes and took off. I hadn't run all week. I was sore from last weekend's warrior dash for a couple days, then just got busy.
I was huffin and puffin. I told myself to forget about time and just keep running, no matter how slow. And boy did I slow down at times but I did not walk. I actually felt pretty good the last mile and only ended up two minutes over my best five-mile time! I took that as a win. Then I took the dog for her one-mile walk.
Saturday, in addition to walking my four legged friend, I went for a 40-minute interval training walk. This will knock off a square on my health challenge card for June at work. Victory! Then some yoga and very nearly fell asleep on the living room floor!
Today was the best day of the weekend. DH and I went for a bicycle ride around some trails near our house and into a neighboring suburb for lunch. We stopped at our favorite Mexican restaurant. I skipped the margarita, had an ice tea, sat on my hands after eating only five chips, then gave half of my lunch to DH. So unlike me! Score!!
At one point on the way home, I pulled over to drink some water. Here was my big moment..... DH said " I can tell you are in better shape, you never used to keep pace with me like that before."
HEAR THE ANGELS SING! He is not an active guy yet he's lean and muscular. He has not commented on my weight loss or running accomplishments. He would be fine if I was still chunky and sitting on the couch with him. He wants what makes me happy. Today he sounded proud of me and impressed which made me feel wonderful!
So that's the weekend that was. Looks like rain is coming. Time to relax before getting back to the grind of work tomorrow.
I hope everyone had great moments this weekend. Lets make it a good week!

IT'S FRIDAY! What is your activity for today? Let's dance.....
"come on pretty baby
put your little hand in mine
things are shaking on the dance floor
everybody's feeling fine
don't waste another minute
step into the light
come on and dance with me tonight"
They had a hi-fi phono , boy, did they let it blast
Seven hundred little records, all rock and rhythm and jazz
But when the sun went down, the rapid tempo of the music fell
"C'est la vie" say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell
I hope everyone has a movin, groovin weekend!
