Thought for the day!

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

The best time to plant a tree.....was twenty years ago.
The second best time is today.
~Chinese proverb

Had I started what I should have a month ago at work instead of waiting for the perfect time, my conference call today would have gone better.

If I don't give up working on running and improving my stamina over the next four months, I will improve my time at the St. Patrick's day 5K. I slacked off until late January this year so I need to keep it up!

Only 123 more days!

One of these days I'm going to stop procrastinating in all areas of my life! What can you start today that you have been putting off?

I love the quote too! I am in the same boat. So hard to organize EVERYTHING in my life now AND so hard to organize a little at a time.

Good News Bad News Weekend

Sunday, November 11, 2012

It's been quite a weekend!

Bad news, my aunt is suffering with three forms of cancer.
Good news she is still a beautiful, vibrate woman who is aceepting whatever might happen.

Bad news, I helped my daughter with an emotional move out of her boyfriend's house.
Good news, she recognized the unhealty aspects of the relationship and stood up for herself.

Bad news, I don't think I will have a loss at weigh-in tomorrow so close to goal.
Good news is I ran 3.2 mles in a shorter time yesterday than I did last week, even though I thought I walked more than I should have.

Bad news, it's a dreary morning here in the Chicago area.
Good news is I'm going to see Pitch Perfect with friends later today.

Good news, my dad has been honored with other vets at the independent living facility my parents live in. A wall of 8X10 portraits from their days in the service was put up in the lobby this weekend.

No bad news there! Always good to look at life on the bright side!

Happy Veteren's Day!

I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt and I wish her and all of your family the best.

I love how your father is being honored - very special!

The weight will come off - you are doing the right things and little longer to goal won't hurt you.

Good news to you for finding all the wonderful good news mixing in with the sadness and stress.

Inspirational song lyrics heard on the elliptical tonight

Tuesday, November 06, 2012

By Bon Jovi....

Welcome to wherever you are
This is your life
You made it this far
Welcome, you gotta believe
Right here right now
You're exactly where you're supposed to be
Welcome to wherever you are

I have heard this song countless times but never REALLY listened to it. I hit level 9 intensity on the elliptical tonight and for the first time it didn't feel like I was trying to walk through a wall.

Wherever we all are, right now, on the road to getting stronger and healthier is exactly where we are supposed to be.

Either it's a good day making us stay motivated or it wasn't such a good day and we can stop and learn a lesson for tomorrow.

I hope everyone had a great day and you found a reason to smile!

Inspirational song lyrics heard during my run

Sunday, November 04, 2012

If you were running or trying any activity that challenged you and you wanted to give up, what would these song lyrics mean to you.....

Settle down and itíll all be cleared
Donít pay no mind to the demons they fill you with fear
Trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found
Just know your not alone cause I'm gonna make this place your home

By Philip Phillips

For me, it kept me going when I wanted to give up. Today was my second attempt at running 3.2 miles in preparation for our St. Patrick's Day 5K. I ran it this year... barely... so I'm trying to get stronger.

The last half mile was tough today! My thighs were tightening up and the cold air made me feel like I couldn't breathe. I was getting aggravated, I wanted to give up and walk the rest of the way home.

Then this song started playing and it reminded me to take it easy. I've done this before, I can get stronger, it will get easier. All the reasons I tell myself I can't are precisely the reasons I should. I have the power to make my life and my health what I want it to be.

I did finish and a minute less than I did on Thursday.
