Yeah, I put this in one of my Sparksteams, but I gotta expound here:
Gotta share ladies....I'm feeling uber-sexy today. I walked past the mirror the other day and again yesterday, and my triceps were nice and toned looking AT REST!! I didn't even need to flex. Slowly but surely. I will have Angela Bassett arms :)
Jari Love works! For the time being, I'm not going to do Cathe strength training. Sure, she's great. Sure I'm lusting after her Lower and Upper Body Pyramids DVD for $39.99 at amazon.com. But I'm getting great results with $5.99 Jari Love DVDs too. And since I have the worse fitness video addiction, I need to save my pennies to feed it.
I'm also lusting after Amy Bento's Hi/Low Xtreme. But I've got some great Hi/Low workouts for less than $10 at home. I shouldn't be in a rush to get hers for $19.99. At least, not until I get some real cash :) Oh, I have the worse addiction! There has to be a twelve step program.
I guess I'll wait for a plateau before venturing into the higher cash end market.
Note to Self: don't be deceived by the numbers. I had two snacks today - one pastry at 180 calories and a Schwan's pie at 410. Still within my calories, but I'll do a little extra cardio to make up for the fat. However, I'm still SEXY!!

I was so ready to toss my original Get Ripped and my Kathy Smith Aerobox. I had done Get Ripped once, and it just wasn't challenging enough. As for Aerobox, the jumprope drills were too high impact for the amount of drills they had me do.
But they really came in handy recently. My hip has been acting up terribly, and I didn't think that I would be able to workout for the rest of the week. Well, I was able to do the original Get Ripped without any pain, because it didn't have as many reps as Slim and Lean or To the Core. I did up the weights to 10 lbs for every exercise, and afterwards I felt great. She also had some modified exercises that I could do sitting down and on the floor that still worked my glutes without hurting my hips. I have got to keep this gem around for my down days.
As for Aerobox, I was able to get a decent cardio workout. Most of the Aerobox part was punches. I had to modify my jumprope routines to make them low impact. Next time, I'll march in place, or slide along the ground for even less hip pain. I did this workout the day before. Yesterday I did Basic Step with Cathe Friedrich. Burned a good amount of calories, no dread factor, and I feel great today! No hip pain.
So, for those of you that have advanced beyond your beginner level DVDs, if (1) the routine is still good (2) the music is still pumping and (3) you can easily modify to up or lower the intensity, don't trade them if they are still motivating and fun. If you ever get injured, you can pull these out and still have a great workout.
And if you have Aerobox, watching Kathy Smith be comfortable and goof up the routines are hilarious.
P.S. Ate some onion rings and went over 100 calories. Totally don't care. I wanted those onion rings LOL!! Guess I'm doing extra cardio tomorrow.

The ladies in the 10 Pounds and Under Sparkteam helped me feel so much better about slipping way over my calories a few days ago. They are so encouraging without being sugar coating. Sometimes, I feel like I shouldn't be on Sparks or comment about my weight, because I've almost reached my goals, and compared to some, I didn't have a lot to lose. But I feel as though I do have a place here, because we are all looking to be healthy and happy.
Unfortunately, I'm still having hip problems. I may not be able to do Jari tonight. Some of that hopping I did on Aerobox, even though I did the low impact version, made a bad problem worse. I'm going to have to concentrate solely on low impact aerobics - walking. As for strength training, Jari loves to do squats and lunges, so I'm going to have to find something else. I may do my resistance band DVD that I bought last weekend. It's better than not doing anything. Or I may look on some of my other aerobics DVDs that have toning sections. Mix it up a little.
I still haven't gotten my Bellydance DVD, not that I am in any shape to use it now. Still debating on a kickboxing or boxing DVD as well. We'll see.

I went 500 calories over my range today! I haven't done that in awhile. And yes, I feel bad. Having a treat or snack here and there doesn't make me feel as bad as it used to, so I know that's progress. But going over so much when I'm so close to my goal makes me feel terrible. I've even got that bloated feeling. I just get the feeling that I'm only going to gain the weight all over again, even though I know I don't want to. I spent so much time at 130, then I finally broke my plateau and lost two pounds. So I really don't want to go back up. I haven't gained any weight back this whole journey.
I don't know if I even plan on staying at 125. I'll see how I look and feel when I get there, and if I am not happy, I'll gain the weight back. But I would like the chance to get there first. Once I get to my goal weight, I would really like to maintain. I want to be a success story.

Yep, I enjoyed the holidays. I didn't work out, but that's okay. I didn't eat terribly. I actually had a lot of fruit and veggies and salad almost every day for lunch. I had fruit every morning for breakfast and croissants. I did splurge on those Chili's Southwestern Egg Rolls, but those were a treat. Yummy! So, although I wasn't as healthy as I liked, I did really well considering I was out of town without easy access to a stove.
I also purchased some items: an 8 pound medicine ball and a resistance band workout DVD from GoFit. I put on order that Bellydance DVD and two workout DVDs came while I was on vacation. So I'm very excited to get back in the routine. I actually worked out yesterday to Hot Steps. Wow, just combos one through three still kick my butt when I have it on two risers. I still can't get combo four perfectly. That's the good thing about working out at home. You never get bored :)
