What Would I Like To Accomplish During The Fall Fitness Challenge?

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

In a nutshell, I will be a stronger, well toned, healthier, lighter me, and establish a firm foundation through the holidays, and Winter months, by:

1. Proving to myself that I am able, and will do much more physically than I have been.

2. Consistency in fitness, firming up my home circuit plan, and using it as a foundation to increase endurance, toning, and experimenting with new varieties/genres, and keeping it fun too.

3. Increasing whole grains and freggies, clean eating, meatless meals, and portion control.

4. Dropping 10 lbs would be a bonus.

5. Improving self discipline leading into the holidays by establishing firm, consistent habits and routines in order to manage self-control, and avoid temptations and over indulgence.

After the challenge? I will build on all of my accomplishments in preparation of our next adventure.

I will be Strong, Fit, and Healthy!!

1st Quarter Goals Review:

Sunday, March 24, 2013

I can't believe the 1st quarter is already gone, time sure does fly!! This is a check-up to make sure I'm staying on track!

This year is about trying something new, moving, and self improvement. So far this quarter:

Balance - emoticon

Activity - I've done well moving and getting in well over 1000 fitness minutes per month. However, I need to concentrate a little more on ST and Cardio.

Live simply - I do live fairly simply, but we are making progress toward an even simpler, de-cluttered life. Particular attention is on reducing our dependency on electronics. We've had definite improvement, just by leaving the smartphone behind. And personally, I can hardly stand for the tv to even be on. I prefer to be outdoors, enjoying God's creation.

Adjust Computer usage. I have limited my time on the computer, but haven't been successful at turning it off by 9 pm, on weeknights. However, it's been earlier most nights, so that's progress!

No! - Just say no, if it doesn't fit into my lifestyle and goals. emoticon

Challenges - emoticon

Expand on whole foods living, clean eating, label reading: This is a work-in-progress. I've come a long way, just slowly. I'll be working on this for a very long time!

New and different: So far this year I've been experimenting with different things, which include: Tahini, chickpeas, making my own hummus, trying a new restaurant, different DVD's and different exercise. I also bought a new kitchen gadget which involves trying new and different recipes, cooked a little differently, while expanding on clean eating, and I'm also getting used to raw veggies for snacks.

Personal growth: I'll finally be starting classes soon to enhance my photography hobby.

Enjoy life! emoticon

Pantry challenge - emoticon

Cooking and experimenting with new recipes, grains, beans and legumes, and batch cooking. emoticon

Living my dreamboard/vision collage: This is an ongoing work-in-progress as well, and I regularly word toward these goals. emoticon

De-clutter, purge, organize: I've been working hard on this area, and I've made quite a bit of progress. It seems this is always on-going, but I have purged, organized and de-cluttered particular areas that had a deadline of 3-31-13. There is plenty more to be done! emoticon

2013 will be all about trying new and different experiences.

It may be just trying a new food or restaurant, location, destination, a new book, a new genre, activity, exercise, educational opportunity, expanding a hobby, or maybe even a personal or spiritual enrichment experience. I want to stretch and grow by challenging myself with new opportunities to enrich my balanced, healthy lifestyle.

Balance - Maintain a balanced, healthy lifestyle: Spiritually, Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, Nutritionally, and Financially.

Activity - Remain active and continually seek new, different, and fun activities. Just enjoy what I'm doing and keep on moving!

Live simply - Living in a way that is outwardly simple and inwardly rich. Being satisfied with needs, not wants. Living contently.

Adjust Computer usage. Limit time to productive resources which enhance my goals and my journey. Limit surfing and shopping, and turn it off by 9:00 on weeknights.

No! - Just say no, if it doesn't fit into my lifestyle and goals.

Challenges - Personal mini challenges to enhance my Spiritual, Physical, Mental, Emotional, Nutritional, and Financial aspects of healthy living.

Expand on whole foods living, clean eating, label reading, and continue learning and understanding what we consume.

Enjoy life! I love my peaceful, laid back life, and spending quality time with hubby.

Pantry challenge - eating from the pantry first, limited trips to the store, reducing costs and waste, increasing creativity.

Cooking and experimenting with new recipes, grains, beans and legumes, and batch cooking.

Living my dreamboard/vision collage.

De-clutter, purge, organize.

A Sick Day, And An Enlightening Moment!

Monday, February 04, 2013

(another for the books)

What am I thankful for today, 2-4-13?

A sick day! although I feel like a truck ran over me, I did get meds, but most of all rest. A rest of my mind too. A rest from my wandering thoughts in too many different directions. But, I had productive ones as well, on a straight and narrow path.

My fav energizing thought stems from a recent challenge I created, about Envisioning yourself by year end. I thought this was a more important topic than expected, and just a part of our journey, our Spark long, and lifelong journey. I guess it is pivotal to just me. So I thought it would be a good idea to save my thoughts and visions for another year of success, before I forget about them, and another year rushes by.

My lightbulb moment was in deciding to make a photobook of my journey, along with past and future dreams. I make them for our families regularly, and capture our life in photobooks. But, what would my total journey look like? From my heaviest and un-healthiest, to my most fit yet? With blogs and visions inbetween? Then add on each year?

I sure hope so, for years to come. I pray for greater challenges, growth, dreams, and motivation, with stamina to move forward, as God desires.

You bet!!

How Do You Envision Yourself By Year-End? 2013

Monday, February 04, 2013

This blog is mainly to document a post I want to keep, which was posted as a challenge. Part of my history, but enjoy anyway, if you wish!! Do you have a vision?

My visions are my dreams. My dreamboard and my health are the reasons I maintain a balanced, healthy lifestyle. This year my goal theme is to live simply and try new and different things.

In keeping with that theme, and keeping sight of my dreams and overall goals, I envision myself healthier, fitter, stronger, more challenged, filled with many new and exciting experiences and adventures, with accomplishments I never dreamed I could do 2 years ago. I envision personal and spiritual growth, being a better photographer and capturing a new level of nature I never thought possible, living a de-cluttered simple life without so many distractions, and building stronger endurance necessary in order to fulfill greater, more physically demanding dreams down the road.

I envision myself having ticked off more of my dreams, replacing them with new ones, and having the confidence to dream bigger knowing that I can climb a mountain, keep up biking for miles with DH from beginning to end. I keep my dreamboard on my Sparkpage, so I see it regulary. It keeps me focused on the day to day challenges, and what I'm working toward, where I want to go, and what I dream to do. It took me a year to create the collage, once I felt stronger, fitter, and more mobile, and gained confidence physically. Small dreams brewed and I acted on them, then gained more confidence.

Without my visions and dreams, I would still be sitting at the bottom of the mountain eating cheeseburgers and french fries, watching others climb it and enjoy the exhilirating, breathtaking view up high in the smoky mountains. I never would have swam with the dolphin, or explored an island by foot and bike, nor explored my own deep woods enjoying the wildlife, or even make it in the airplane seat without an extension, my biggest fear. I can see myself in a future vacation exploring beneath the sea, enjoying God's amazing creatures, and having the stamina to explore to my hearts desire.

For me, having these reminders front and center, keep me focused to always continue to challenge myself, reach a new level, experiment, learn and grow.

Who knows, maybe one day he'll have to keep up with me!! :)

1st Quarter Hot List

Saturday, February 02, 2013

I can't believe it is already February and time is going by so fast. January hasn't been as productive as I would have liked, but I still have 2 months to re-focus and prioritize, before Spring which is right around the corner. We have had a mild winter once again, and we have already cleared and cleaned up our new garden plot, and sweet hubby is already building new beds. Once it warms up, we won't be inside much so I am reminded today that I really need to get to my top priority inside projects prior to then.

Today I am energized, deep cleaning and finishing up my closet project I began last month. It does help to purge in phases, and I keep a bag close by, and drop a few things in it as I make a focused pass through. I've gathered quite a bit in one month, with much to donate on Monday.

My hot list by the end of this quarter is:

1. Purge the clothes closets and donate.

2. Purge the linen closet and donate.

3. Purge the kitchen pantry, cabinets, drawers, etc of all unused and unwanted cookware, bakeware, utensils, gadgets, misc., and donate.

4. Re-organize the pantry, cabinets., and drawers.

5. Be very mindful of new purchases, and replacements.

6. Register amd prepare for my online photography courses.

7. Continue trying out new exercises and DVD's. Experiment with Yoga and meditation.

And as always, Pray, Eat, and Move!

It is hard to believe that we are already into February and like you I am anxious for spring, but I won't be out into the garden until May here. I love your hot list, I have a very similar list that I go through as part of my spring cleaning.

Have a fabulous weekend!
