Challenge Blog

On the Walk it Out Spark team, my challenge team was dared to try a Spark recipe with at least 5 ingredients, post a blog with a link and photo.

I made the ‘Tangy Summer Cucumber Tomato Salad‘. recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detai

I chopped the onion instead of cutting in wedges. I used less onion and half the amount of olive oil and vinegar to suit my tastes.

The salad is light and tastes great!

WIO Challenge Dare

For my Walk It Out Spark team challenge, my team had to prepare this French toast recipe recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detai

, post a blog and a photo.

I varied the recipe ingredients based on what was in my home. I substituted an egg for egg beaters and 2% milk for skim.

I ate my toast with lite syrup and lean bacon.

I had never made French toast before. This was quick and easy to prepare. It was tasty and I will probably make it again on occasion.

WIO Double Dare Challenge

My WIO team double dare challenge is to read the article, ‘14 Ways to Add Variety to Your Walks’, try 3 ways and post a blog about it.

These are the ones I used on my 3 mile walk this evening:

Add an incline -- I did that and walked up and down the church steps several times.

Change your stride -- I loaded my ‘Dance’ play list on the MP3 player. It is the one I use when I want to walk faster and also do a little running. I had not been doing that lately.

Change direction -- My plan was to change right turns to left and vise versa on my route, but it meant to walk backwards and sideways. I didn’t want to do that outside, so instead …

Vary your program -- I did a drastically different route than my regular ones and when I didn’t think there was anyone to see me, I did do the backwards / sideways thing, but that’s one I will probably only use inside.

Walking never bores me - I love it!

    That sounds like a lot of fun. :-) From what i understand, little changes here and there keep the exercise fresh and fun, and also challenges your body so that it doesn't get used to a routine and plateau as a result. :-)

    I walk sideways on the treadmill sometimes. It is suppose to be good for the thighs and backside. emoticon

    I don't blame you for not trying the change directions things outside. I think I am going to try that out the next time I do a treadmill workout. It think it will really pump up the workout!
