    Never say never to anything, if you really enjoy it, set limits and stick with it. Everything in moderation. I myself like a nice glass of wine, only when others are drinking with me, which is seldom. Or a dry gin martini with blue cheese olives--yum! My husband does not drink beer (neither do I), no wine. Occasionally he will enjoy Martini and Rossi asti spumante when we are celebrating something and an occasional fu-fu drink like a strawberry dacquiri or a pina colada so the temptation is not too strong for me. My issue is sweets!!!!! emoticon emoticon

Maintaining My Plateau

Well, it really looks like I'm not going anywhere. I've spent the last three months just kinda stalled in my weight loss. I don't really consider it a plateau... A plateau would imply that I'm working as hard and not seeing results. My reality is that I have not been diligent about my eating habits.

What is the mental disconnect that prevents me from getting back in the groove. I go through bouts of low motivation, but that's not the problem right now. I have actually been extra motivated with my running and daily activity lately. I know I need to be tracking and most mornings I do enter my breakfast, but I get busy at work and don't ever even get back to my Sparkpeople!

Looking ahead to July I'm putting my foot down! I'm going to get back to more regular meal planning and tracking. I'm going to start with a small goal of two days a week, and try to build on that. I'm going to be streaking around here this month, so e'rbody better watch out!

    That is what that new spark book is about. Most of us use exercise as an excuse to eat more. I know I do! I have to use the nutrition tracker diligently to lose any weight! I have to get back to the basics! You can do it! Post it for everyone to see! Even the bloopers!!! emoticon

    Good for you! Put your foot down and start that tracking! I bet you will see some results after that, especially if you keep up with your workout routines! You can do it!

Things just seem crazy, busy now. Isn't that how life is? Always throwing new challenges and opportunities our way when we least expect it? My to-do list gets longer, but I don't seem to be finding the time to check things off of it.

Reading and working through the 14-day Spark Solution plan takes up ALL of my free time. Sometimes I wonder... Is that what healthiness is? Does it have to be all-consuming? Part of me loves the structure because it gives me some measure by which I can truly judge my progress. Part of me resents that this healthiness journey is so defined. It is what it is.

One day soon hopefully I can blog about something useful to everyone... I find lots of encouragement around here seeing that there are victories in the struggle as well as kindred spirits battling the same challenges.

I hope everyone has a productive week! Now... I better go workout...

    To me, it is the computer that has stolen away so much time. Unfortunately it is part of my life and certain helps to find community support on our goals, especially in support of being/living healthy. Before this though, I think we would socialize with our neighbor, or pick up the phone (but we were tied to the jack at the house!)

    Once you get into the way of healthiness, it will not take up all of your time. It will become a natural part of your day. Sometimes it is hard to work, exercise, eat right, etc., but you can do it. emoticon

    So true and I find myself asking myself, begrudgingly the same thing everyday, "does healthiness have to be all-consuming?"

I cannot say yes or no! I think it is in ALL of us to eat better because we know junk from healthy foods but not ALL of us do it! Some days, we all just want to be free from its consuming hands; at least I do!

For me, it takes more planning than effort which can be draining but I cannot lie when I see those results for better food choices and exercising emoticon they are emoticon so my emoticon emoticon one day it will get easier (fingers crossed)

I'm Starting The Spark Solution

Well, I tried around May 15th to start the 14-day program outlined in the book, but our refrigerator went kaput so I sorta lost my motivation (and then struggled with planning my meals in general for the next few weeks). Now, however, I'm back on track... Laying out June goals, workouts, meals, etc.

Today was a good day, and because I had a plan I didn't feel hungry or snacky all day. I'm hoping the structured plan will help keep me focused.

One of my biggest hurdles is still work lunches on MWF when I often let my 'friends' make the choice for lunch and don't stick to my plan. I'm going to work extra diligently on that this month. I had started taking lunch before the whole fridge debacle, so I hope to get back into that. Already from today I think one modification I may make is to have lunch for dinner and vice versa. I usually have my big meal earlier in the day since I get home from work late and go to bed early so that will likely make my days go better... Small evening meal = much better sleep for me.

Finally, my BIGGEST struggle I have yet to conquer is getting 7-8 hours of sleep at night. My alarm goes off at 3:30 am so that means getting in bed by 8:30 pm at the latest which is so hard with the time change. I'm going to work on it this month!

    emoticon My husband does the 3am work day usually getting 4hours sleep if he is lucky. It is hard to get back on track sometimes when you get off I have to step back and remember what and why I was on that track in the first place. Wishing you the best on your journey! emoticon

If You Need Me, I'll Be In Rosebud

I have been taking a 90 minute yoga class once a week for the last 10 weeks. This is not my first experience with yoga, but it has by far been the best!

Previously, at the gym, the hour-long classes just felt rushed. This is a completely different environment and, thus, a completely different experience. It's amazing to me that even in 10 sessions, my mind has learned to wander less, and my flexibility has improved. I still find some of the kneeling poses tough since my knee surgery, but I think the regular practice is helping.

Sadly, there are only two more sessions of yoga offered through this program. Now I'm wondering how to continue the practice on my own. I can't imagine being as disciplined without an instructor to prompt. I'm hoping for advice, Sparkers! Anyone out there regularly practice outside of a structured class? I'm going on a SP/YouTube/Amazon/etc search for resources! Any favorites???
