We interrupt this program........

We interrupt this program due to health issues. I made it through most of October and did really well, but it all came to an abrupt halt when I developed some significant breathing difficulties. I started to experience chest pains and had a hard time breathing. It was determined that I was developing severe bronchitis and because I already suffer from asthma, I was in danger of developing pneumonia. I was instructed to take it easy and get as much rest as possible. I'm happy to report that I am doing much better but I have to cut my workout plan in half. I was disappointed at first but realized that doing half as much is better than not being able to exercise at all. With that in mind, I am starting my journey again and hope my health will cooperate.

    Good Luck! I, too, had this problem...ended up in the hospital for ine week with pneumonia and diagnosed with COPD...ended up in the hospital again that year!
Am on disability but doing well with rest, being out of the public, taking care of myself and on top of my allergies, asthma, etc.
You can manage this...a day at a time!

Motivation ideas

I realized today that when I'm working the hardest and accomplishing the most, it seems to be when I'm listening to music. With that in mind, I am going through my iPod and setting specific songs that motivate me and make me move. I admit to dancing while doing my housework and I'm guilty of be-bopping when I hear a good song come on so it makes perfect sense to make a playlist of my favorite music to help keep me going. I've found a few songs but I'll have to put more work into it tomorrow.

    Music is the best! I listen to 60's Maltshop tunes when I want to feel really happy and upbeat!

Feeling accomplished

I got a lot accomplished today. I incorporated my workout into my daily chores. I did all the laundry, which led to climbing 10 flights of stairs. I washed every dish in the house, and wiped the cupboard shelves down. Add vacuuming and you've gotten a total body workout. Tonight, it's more research and planning for my novel. I feel like I accomplished quite a bit today. It's nice to have a clean house. Hopefully, it shows on the scale too!

    That WAS a great workout. I love when we can incorporate housework into our fitness because when you do what you just did, you really do work up a sweat.

Cold but motivated

It's really chilly today, so I've been trying to stay inside today. I'm doing all my workouts and having soup and hot cocoa to warm me up. Generally I love this time of year, but today it feels exceptionally cold. I'm not a fan of the cold. Maybe the cooler temperatures will keep me motivated enough to work harder to stay warm!

    Yes, it's that time of year. I try to make winter the time where I really pour it on so I'll look and feel great when summer comes around. Kind of like a butterfly emerging from the cocoon!

Soup is great with the colder temps and you can make SO many healthy versions. Enjoy experimenting!

    Working up a good sweat will definitely warm you up ........... Have been having more soup lately with the cooler temps. And as one said, it could be in the initial drop in temps ............ we will have to 'cozy up' ........... :)

    It's getting cold here too & usually I love it, but I'm struggling a bit with it this time around :)

Exercise, soup & hot cocoa sound like the perfect solution to keep yourself warm!

Back to basics

Monday, October 20, 2014

The beginning of a new week and I'm back on track. Family day was awesome yesterday but now it's time to get back to my journey. I got up and did my workouts, then got some things done around the house. I even found time to go and get my hair cut. (Can't have a new me without a new look!) Cut 7 inches off! Great start to the week! Can't wait to weigh-in on Wednesday! I have a good feeling!
