Wednesday

Wednesday, February 09, 2011

Yeah, it's Wednesday, not too much to say this morning. Last night I felt the blues for a bit, not sure what's up with that, but thought I should log a note in my journal. Tonight I take my second Avonex shot too. Bring on the Advil PM. I think I found a good way to get more water - I love listening to music - Sirius, Pandora, IHeart, etc. Soo.. everytime a new song comes on I take a big huge sip. Kinda like that drinking game where you drink every time a certain word is said. Well, it worked Monday, and I didn't do it yesterday and I lacked in water again. So I'm trying it again today. Not much else is new. I'm training at work today, and also working so I best get going!

Woke up to No Heat - Furnace Issues

Tuesday, February 08, 2011

Woke up and it was feeling chilly, so after I got dressed I checked and it was 57 degrees in the house. No wonder why I was cold. Well, the repair guy is here now. He's made a bunch of noise and it sounds like it might be trying to work now. I already fell asleep twice this morning - when it's cold, I like to sleep. Just really hoping it's not going to be too much $$ to fix it.

Yeah! It wasn't too much! $117 and it was fixed in 45 minutes! Whooo hoo!

Chilly! We have a wood stove in the basement. We don't keep it running all the time, in the winter, but, we use it quite a bit. It heats the house warmer than the furnace. If our furnace went out, we'd have that as an option until it got fixed.

Yeah; hope it's not too much $ to fix yours.

Starting my DVD Challenge

Monday, February 07, 2011

So, I've done the whole 10 minutes working out a day for 2 weeks, and have been slowly adding in a few more minutes here and there. Today I did 35 minutes, and I feel awesome. I am going to go with the following Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout schedule:

A warm up (5 min)
Last Chance Workout (25 min)
Upper body sculpt (10 min)
Lower body sculpt (10 min)
Cool down (5 min)

From weeks 1-2: Last Chance workout MWF and Upper body and lower body sculpt Tue Thu and Sat, rest on Sunday. Sunday I will just do my usual "stuff" to get at least 10 minutes of "extra" exercise (shoveling, walking, etc).

January - learn to eat healthy & stick with it
February - add in exercise and continue to eat healthy
March - what's next?

Good for you, Kaz! I'm tryin' to add things in, too. Improved, a little, on exercise last week, as compared to January. But, didn't meet my goals.

Struggling with Water Intake

Monday, February 07, 2011

I'm still struggling with water intake. I used to not have a problem with it - I'd just put in a flavor packet that was no cal, no fat, no this, no that, all fake stuff, and drink a few a day. Well, I don't want to put all that artificial stuff in my system, so now I'm stuck with plain water. I've tried using a tea bag, and I really don't care for tea that much (without lots of sugar and lemon, and that's defeating the purpose.. lol). I've tried just putting in some fresh lemon, that's not too bad, but does get boring. The past three or four days especially, I noticed I'm not drinking enough and I'm starting to get cramps. I get cramps very easy when I don't drink enough water. I'm going to start using the water tracker to try and encourage myself to drink more. I'm just not sure what options are out there to get me to drink more water!

I used to be sooo bad at drinking water that I would get sick! I've been doing much better since I started using spark.

I think I found a way to trick myself into drinking more water during the day at my desk - I listen to Pandora and every time the song changes I take a sip. I was thinking about how people were joking about a drinking game for the superbowl (every time Farve's name is mentioned, take a drink, etc). So... I adapted it. So far I drank 20 ounces.. lol.. Getting there slowly!

I usually don't have a problems getting in my 2 liters of water a day in, BUT some days are harder than others. I have found for myself, that it's easier to down room temp. water vs. ice cold water for winter time. Now summer gets here and I'm outside, I can down some ice cold water. I like to use lemon, when I go out to eat I have them bring a bowl of them out. Also, there is flavored water that still has nothing in it and it's not colored and sugary like the little pour in packs. The one I like is nestle water flavored with kiwi strawberry. Good luck, just keep trying. Some water is better than no water.

I have been struggling also! Something I did in the past (and will be doing again), is go to grocery store and buy a 1 gallon jug of bottled water. Drink that in one day, refill it before bed and put it in refrigerator. I can only drink cold water so by doing this it is ready for the next day. Hope this helps! emoticon

Well my boss told me she had a problem drinking cold water so she heated it up and had warm water. Also if you have a drink of coffee, have water with it, so have a gulp of coffee and next have some water. that helped me out, i've started having a drink with every meal so i get at least three a day, I use to get at least 10 a day when I was younger.

25 lbs and an inch here & there - only I can tell

Thursday, February 03, 2011

So I'm excited. I've lost 25 lbs already. I lost an inch around my waist, arm, neck. My thigh is actually one inch larger (oops). My husband says he can notice only when I'm changing - wearing clothes still can't tell. I think that's what discouraged a friend of mine (he lost 50 lbs and no one could tell). I can feel a difference, and I'm determined that in another month people will be able to tell.

It all starts with you anyways. If you can notice you will stay more motivated to strive for the next 25 lbs. Congrats. I'm almost at 25 too and it's a good feeling ~ Donna

Thank ou all so much for your support!!! My husband also lost 25 lbs the past month too! We are very happy and supportive of each other, pointing out where we see each other have lost when we are in our underwear. LOL. I know in another month my coworkers will say something. I confided in one coworker, and she mentioned that she can't tell when people lose weight, she just doesn't realize it. lol. I'm very happy that I feel so much healthier. I know this is just the beginning of the rest of our lives!

Congratulations !! that's awesome !! As far as your friend who lost 50 pounds, I'll bet plenty of people have noticed. the problem is that they may not know what to say. Some people get kinda tongue tied when talking to a friend about weight loss.

keep up the hard work! You're doing great.

Also, remember that people may very well be able to notice the weight loss, but not want to say anything. I know I lost 80 pounds before a single person at work said anything about it. By then it was completely obvious.

Go you! Keep up the amazing work. Don't get discouraged if no one can tell. Because in a month or two, they will start! The most important person is you. If you can tell, that's all that matters.
