Little things that you can do too...

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Here's my starter list of little things I can do and you can do too, that can help make a big difference in reaching your life style goals.

My husband taught me this trick for the morning. Instead of one alarm clock, try two! It's always easy to hit that snooze button over and over or just turn the whole thing off. It's a lot harder to turn one alarm off and then have to walk to the other alarm clock five minutes later. So leave one alarm clock within reach and have another one across the room and in short, force yourself out of bed.

Once out of bed, working out in the morning is most likely the goal that you've been wanting to tackle for a while. Push yourself into that workout by leaving your workout clothes on the edge of your bed (in my case my dresser) every morning. I had a major issue with just getting out of the house and started with dressing in clothes every morning when I woke up, if I planned on leaving or not! Then I switched to gym clothes and low and behold, I was at the gym everyday by 9:30 am!

When I was pregnant with my last child, I bought an exercise ball to sit on while watching T.V. Just this week a friend was telling me about how she needed a new desk chair and I said I did too. Then it suddenly hit me "Why not just sit on the exercise ball and forget about messing with chairs and stuff?" I've not tried it yet but I plan on doing so since it worked so well while T.V. watching and was way comfy!

Of course they say that a full body workout is great if you have the time but that breaking it up is just as good. I've tried it and it's a burst of energy sprinkled through out my day! In the morning when I don't work out at home or go to the gym I remind myself to stretch and do my tapping. I also do a little something such as squats or shoulder press with can goods as I'm waiting for food to cook in the kitchen,, while taking laundry down stairs I'll run up and down a few times or stand at the bottom step and do some stepping and I've even managed to do some toning while reading blogs right here on sparks.

Yoga can be a great way to start the day and it can even be a great way to end it! I love doing yoga poises right on the bedroom floor before jumping into bed. I keep it light and simple and just use it as a way to stretch and calm down for the day. Couldn't ask for a more peaceful way to end what could be a stressful day or in some cases it's the icing on the cake of an already sweet one.

What a way to start the week!

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Okay so I was 500 over on cals but...I worked out for 100 mins! I burned a total of 912 cals. My goal is to work out for 45 mins and burn about 350. I've been coming in at 300 and under though. Today I did water cardio, the elliptical, tread mill, the bike and walking!

On top of that I had 17+ cups of water!

and...I got 100 sparks points today!

I'm totally happy with myself and I'm okay with that ice cream I had...and the cookie. LOL.

It's nice out!

Monday, May 19, 2008

Well it's been nice out for the past couple of days and I've been out and about enjoying the weather. Yesterday we went out to the park and did some walking/jogging. I did 100 lunges while the kids played on the playground. I also did the monkey bars too...well mostly just hung for as long as i could and did that a few times. I even got on the swing!

Today we went back to the park and I started with lunges but not many since i'm sore. Same with the arm raises. We did some walking and then headed to the nature trail and did some walking/jogging for about half a mile on the hike path.

I'm feeling a bit sore but I'm totally motivated! I've been drinking my water. yesterday I had 16 cups and today I'm looking at 10 as of now. My eating is improving though I like to stop going out as much. I've been getting food to take to the park and I need to go back to picking better food and packing food.

I've also managed to go off and go shopping! I got a few items for summer since I have none. Been stuck in maternity and winter clothes from when I was in upstate NY. I got some short sleeve shirts and 2 pairs of shorts. I also got a swim suit and dress. I picked up 3 pairs of pants between the sizes of 17 misses and 15 juniors. I didn't realize that they were misses and juniors so they don't fit...I can get them on but not zipped up.

I'll have to take some pic's in the clothes and then again when I lose some weight.

Have a great day ~ Cyndy

Timing out

Saturday, May 17, 2008

so I wrote out this whole blog two days ago and went to post and it timed out! Lost the whole thing. It was almost midnight so i decided to repost it and add new info from the next day later on. Well nothing happened yesterday so here I am.

Not much going on. I've had really bad pain and have had to go back on my meds. I've had weight gain and tons of bloating since being on them. I'm still swollen all over and to the point that friends are concerned. I've only gained 2lbs though and hopefully it's all water. I did go swimming 2 days ago and spent my time holding the baby on a floaty and kicking and kicking and kicking.

Today i got up and walked...about 45 mins worth of it. I also parked far away from the stores and did exercises while standing at the copy machine and yada. The only bad thing...I ate out!

The good thing is that I was within my range for everything!

Yes I did skip breakfast but only cus I was in so much pain, i didn't want to move.

I'm in even more pain today after that walking. I sprinted (after the baby) several times and a lot longer than I've ever sprinted before. I walked a good pace and further than I've ever walked before and was up hill, down hill and was sweating like a pig! Honestly, the worst time ever to do work at the school. LOL.

You know, hon, that I would never criticize you for eating out or for going light on exercises if you are in pain. I don't think anyone would criticize you for being in pain and having it affect your exercising. I'm just sorry this is happening. I wish I could tell you a miracle way to help with the swelling because i'm sure you are already trying more water to help flush it out. But I'm sure in the long run something good will come of this. Things will be better soon!

Take good care of youself. It sounds like you need a day of light exercise...no sprinting or hills aloud.
Wtg on pushing yourself and staying in your range when eating out. I have been way over my calories the last two days because of eating out. Keep up the great work. I am so proud of you.

Kids acting up...again

Wednesday, May 07, 2008

well the kids have been driving me crazy. Non stop fighting and not listening and what is the punishment? No swimming. This of course messes things up since that is now my workout for this week. I'm going to have to redo things and workout at some other time but when is beyond me.

I went shopping today and got some fruits and veggies. I'm going to start eating more of them. I also went out to eat again and all this eating out is starting to show. In one week I've gained about 6lbs. I'm sure that it's water weight...how can I be so sure?

I can't put my feet into my shoes! Yes my feet are sooooo swollen that it's like being preg. again. I know I need more water.

Yes I know that AF is just days away and that can be the cause of weight gain and bloating but still...last week honestly that scale said 204.6 one day and the next it was 206...by the end of the week 208 and yesterday it read 210...even with knowing that I'm swollen and bloated doesn't help change the fact that those numbers are going up.

Hopefully I can get it under control before it gets the best of me.

I think it is in the air. My kids are acting crazy too. I get bloated everytime we travel. I don't know why but if I sit in the car for 45 min I start retaining water. Weird. I am just now seeing the scale go back down from our trip this weekend. AF sure dosent help! LOL Things will get better drink, drink, drink. And just stay off the evil scale until you don't feel so bloated, it will just make a bad situation worse. Hope you feel better. Have a blessed day!
