Water Challenge

So I've taken on a new water challenge, joined a new team that works around the concept of drinking water for your health (you can check it out through my spark page.). The water challenge was something that I took on myself back when I originally joined sparks. My goal then was 21 days make it habit and I did great, 8 glasses a day and continued on with that until I left sparks. Well since starting back on sparks (july 15th 2007) I've managed to only miss my water intake 4 times. I had other things to drink that day, milk, soy milk, soda and the such but it just wasn't water. I would fill up a 64oz gatorade bottle and that was my water for the day! Now though I'm wanting the flouride that doesn't come with bottled water so I'm turning to the 32 oz bottles. One bottle of bottled water and the other of tap water. I do add one of those unsweetened teas to it. The tea is pretty much colorless because one pack is for 16 oz and i'm putting it into a 32 oz bottle. I do this because the flavor of tap water kills me. It's 0 cals and sugar free and it's got the good stuff of tea that should get into my system. Well, I've already surpassed the 64 oz a day goal now I'm reading that for my weight I should drink 106.5 oz a day. Now for those who don't know, the formula I believe is to take your weight, divide it by 2 and the number you get is the oz's you should drink. Yesterday I came in at 96oz of water. Today I'm already at 32oz and it's about 10:30 in the morning. I'm hoping to reach that 106.5 today and keep it going! Wish me luck!-kat

    wow kat!! way to go on your water intake!! i really need to be more consistent with mine! some days i get to 64 and others i don't...but i only drink water so i need to get that regulated. i have seen that water spark team before, i am gonna check it out, hopefully it will help to motivate me! thanks for your comment on my blog the other day! thanks, jamie :)

    Good luck Kat! I do my best to drink enough water, but admit that when I have to travel for work (60 miles each way) I put it off because of the restroom factor!

    Hi, I am going to try and drink more water. I do get the 64oz in a day, I do add crystal light to my water to help me drink it. I tried the fromual that you list but for it it came out to 112 oz thats a lot of water, thats almost two 64oz bottles. Wish me luck, and good luck to you.

Ok, so things got a bit busy. Baby got sick and couldn't go to the nursery or in the water for my work out and on top of that I had fried chicken for dinner. Well it didn't take me over my cals but it did put me over my fat content. Opps!

Then the next day wasn't better. All day at the dentist with the kids and then out to eat again. This time the china buffet. I think I did pretty good. I had half a plate of their green beans, then one dumpling, 2 pieces of honey chicken and peanut chicken, a spring roll, 3 mushrooms, and then grabbed a second plate that have 6 different types of sushi on it ( 4 or 6 but lets say 6 on the safe side!) and then the rest of the plate was the cut banana halfs in the red sauce and then 2 of their little donuts. It's my biggest meal since starting sparks and I had it with water.

But things got ugly during night fall. I told myself "Treat yourself!" and I ate right out of a carton of ice cream. It's the low fat and low cal deal but still...about 2 cups worth I'm guessing. Then....yes then...then I had some chips...out of the bag.

Now here's the issue, I've done this before...the chips and ice cream but normally it's portioned in zip lock bags. But nope I didn't do that! Mistake number one!

Mistake number two? Not drinking my water! On both days I had not a sip of water until around 1:00 pm! Then after the buffet (which was the only place I had water!) I came home from being out and walking all day long and ate the left over chicken! Then the ice cream, then the chips and then realized "Your water container is right here!" I drank the water and thought i was going to throw up!

Only good thing from this all...I learned what works for me and what doesn't and I can say that I spent a lot of time walking...most likely a few miles of walking each day plus working out and lots of cardio. I'm pretty sure I canceled it all out but I could have done so much more better.

Thank goodness I realize this and I'm able to move on!

PS: I have the bag of chips right next to me on the desk wide open and haven't had one in about 3 hours. In fact I picked up one, put it down and came and wrote this blog!

My days are filling up

Well, my days are filling up. I joined me and the kids to the ymca. Mon and Wed. is swim for the girls. Me and the baby jump into the pool and just hang out and walk around. I guess it is working out cus by the time I get out of the pool I hurt so bad it's not funny. It's only about 45 mins or so but still it's more than what I would do at home. Just all the walking to get to the pool is more than what I would do in that 45 mins at home! Wed. is also their tumbling class for an hour. Last time I just walked around and checked the place out. Lot's of walking and taking the baby up and down stairs and the such. Even went around a track once. I'm hoping to put him into daycare so that I can hit the gym during that hour. It's just once a week but hey, that's once a week more than what I was getting in right? Tues. and Thurs. is mommy and me swim with the baby. It's only for 30 mins but I did find out that if I show up earlier, I can do free swim with all of us until the class starts up. That just leaves Fri-Sun free. I'm thinking that the girls will still want to do swimming during those days and if not I got some tickets for free bowling for them. I'll even give it a try! There is always the children's museum for the baby and that always keeps me busy. I think that's what I need to do, just keep on moving. I might not be able to do the working out but keeping busy will keep me motivated and it's better than just sitting doing nothing.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. You are doing well. And yes, you are busy. walking is still the best exercise, as is walking in the pool as well. I belong to the Y and do the water exercise thing and love it. Keep on doing what you are doing and you will make your goal. Love the picture of that sexy nighty.

Your children are beautiful. You mentioned you were military. Is your DH a career man,and if so, what branch is he in? My Dad was in the Army and my brother the Air Force. Where is your DH stationed?

Hope you get your basement cleaned up. Water is so destructive.

So I set up a goal which is 200lbs by Oct. 15th 2007. I've decided that since dh should be back by then I might want to pick up a nightie since I've got tons of clothes due to my gradual weight gain and my favorite saying of "I'm going to lose the weight." Well, nighties of any form are something I just don't have a lot of so that will be something I will need to buy. I actually have more of them that are the size I am now and bigger than those that are smaller. So, when I reach 200lbs I will be picking up this number. I like it due to the fact that it stretches and the straps are adjustable and it will fit sizes 14-26. This allows me to wear it longer than just a month or so. When I get it I should be a size 18-20 so I'll be able to wear it for a few months or longer. Not that I want to wear it that long, hoping to be out of plus size asap! hehehe. So, I picked that one and I have another two that I like but one is really super naughty and the other is more like this. I think I'll get one every once in a while but not sure on when that once in a while is.

    That is a nice nightie good luck withyour goal. When I had lost 4 pounds I purchased a nightie and took my dh to a hotel. the night gown was form fitting and as I lost it looked nice, since wemy dh and I haven't been working out the nightie is now a tightie lol. It's okay we started walking again and I will be back at bailys this week.

Only one pound lost...

Well, I've only lost one pound in the past week...I'm not really complaining. I've had ice cream everyday of the week and even had 2 sodas during the week...one day I even had ice cream at home and then took the kids to dairy queen and had some more...hehehe...I think i'm doing really well on balancing my treats and loosing weight. I can honestly say that I've not gone over in cals at all...ice cream and soda included. Though I do admit, there were a few days not only this past week but the week before, that i went over in fat. not by that much but it was still over! So now fat content is what I'm watching...along with sodium. I want to thank MQT4U2 AND MAMAMARYS3 (soon to be 4! hehehe) for checking my blog!

I think I'm gonna look up a nightie tomorrow and post it up or something.

by the way, I didn't eat the strawberry shortcake! YAY! that saved me like 525 cals alone! I did have a soda though...I'm still under on cals though...
