So I have been at the same wt for over a week now. I know my eating habits have not been great, but I also haven't been working out as much as I should. I was sick with fever and body aches a couple of weeks ago and it feels like the sinus infection is lingering. I have been sleeping upright on the couch more than in bed for the past 2 weeks and I am SUPER exhausted after working out. I wish I knew how to get a handle on this sick. This is the longest I've ever had it!

Your weight can fluctuate a lot over the weeks/months. Go for the long view rather than the short.

Hope you feel better soon. Maybe you can make your workouts lighter but longer? I don't know what your energy level is like before the gym, but I find C4 (a pre-workout powder) helps me get through days where I feel like crap. It essentially just fills you up with nutrients and helps bring oxygen to your muscles easier from what I understand and notice.

bike and monitor

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

So I am totally stoked about getting a new exercise bike yesterday! My husband wouldn't let me buy one new because he says I'm just like my mother and will only use it for a little while and it will then only be a dust collector. So I've been looking on Craigslist and recenty found one for $60 but he said that was still too much to spend. So yesterday I found one for only $20! It was in the same town that I live in and in fact ended up being my aunt and uncle's neighbor! Ha, such a small world! It's only a year old and in great shape for the price! The kids and I all got a good first workout on it yesterday. I also went and invested in a heart rate/calorie burn monitor, which helped me make the best of my workout by staying in my target heart range. I'm still not feeling the best but I'm feeling much better this week than last week.
Here's to a great week of cycling and cardio workouts!

Long time, no write!

So, like I said in my first blog-I'm new at this. I do realize that I need to stay connected to remember my goals and stay accountable. This week I have been sick with the upper respiratory, sinus stuff. The problem is, whenever I get the post nasal drip, my asthma always kicks in. Monday night and early Tuesday I had a slight fever. I slept almost all day Tuesday and Wednesday with only light working out on Tuesday evening (nope didn't log it on my Spark log as that would take to much energy!). Thursday I was feeling great and unfortunately overdid it leaving me drained and coughing on Friday and Saturday. Well, here it is Sunday and I think I may finally be over it. I got a good workout in and then came home (my workouts are on the Wi at my parent's house, my idea of a gym emoticon ) and cleaned the house. Tomorrow I have my Pilates/cardio class again (which I missed last Wednesday as I couldn't get out of bed) which I am confident will be great!
Another big plus, as I was folding laundry, I had never noticed how incredibly large my pants are-I mean, no that's not a good thing as I still fit into them (although they are quite loose now), but it is good that I recognize it as not okay. I am losing but I am still far from my goal. I slacked off a bit while I was sick because I could hardly move, but it reminded me how important it is to eat healthy in order to stay healthy. A week being sick can cause stumbling blocks in weightloss, or any goal for that matter. I'm just glad that I can see it and I'm ready to jump up and get going again. "I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never gonna keep me down..."

So I started a Pilates class January 7,2013 and when I went to class today, I was able to do all the exercises! Before it was hard for me to keep my head elevated for all the movements but today I felt strong! I have a bad back so Pilates has been great to get my core into shape and to have better posture! My back is still a little sore tonight, hopefully a good night's rest will help!

    Well done!
I know how hard it is when you have back pain. I do Physio exercises every day before anything else and it has really worked. After a life of back pain its great! Strengthening is key, but stop if it hurts!

First time Blogger!

Sunday, January 27, 2013

So today is the first time I have ever written in a blog, or even a diary for that matter! Losing weight and reaching my goal and getting to a healthier weight is so important to me now that I don't want to fail! I have always refused any kind of diet plans because I've seen so many of my family members fail. I have made New Year's resolutions in the past but failed due to not having set regular short term goals. This time I am using every tool available! I started a weight management class on January 7th and I have lost approximately 3 pounds! 1 pound a week is perfectly okay to me! I just need to remember I won't always lose 1 pound, and I may make mistakes, but I can't let that stop me from reaching my goals!
