15 minute mile for the 1st time!

Today I decided that I would finally put all of my elliptical and treadmill training to the test. It was a relatively warm day on vacation at the beach today and decided to run outside for a change since there's no gym equipment here (thank goodness :-P) Mind you I am training for my first 5K but because of the cold winter weather have only done indoor training so far. Last time I ran outside was an abnormal warm day in January and I averaged like a 22-24 minute mile. I couldn't go more than like .2 miles without stopping for breath or to stretch. Today I went out with starting at a pretty steady pace and was surprised that I kept that pace throughout the next half mile. I started cramping and had to break twice but ended my mile in 15 minutes!!! Compared to 22-24 mins just 2 months ago I'm super excited about this new me!

Hopefully with the start of Spring I will be running outside a lot more and this number will only increase get smaller! I feel pretty good about me right now :-)

finding the time..

I've been struggling for a little while finding recent motivation to get up off my butt and exercise. With college fall semester starting about 2 weeks ago it's been hard to find time between working full time and going to school full time to find the motivation to spend any of the time inbetween those working out!

I go to school from 8-1 each day and work from 3-11 each night. So inbetween those shifts theres 2 hours to do some homework eat quick lunch and breath before heading out for my job. Once 11:30pm rolls around and I'm just getting home from the commute from work there is no way I'm going to be able to find a spare 30 min to do cardio let alone get a shower do the laundry dishes and or even brush my teeth to be in bed by midnight to get my 8 hours of sleep.
SO needless to say this last week and a half has not been a very good one motivationally wise, however yesterday and today kickstarted my feelings about my weight loss plan. Because of my lack of exercise I was almost positive that my weight would definitely go up.. but just by watching what I ate this week I was still about to lose 5 pounds and am just 5 pounds away from being halfway to my goal!! So anyways just goes to show don't worry about what the scale will say until it says it.. because I was definitely expecting/dreading a gain and was most pleasantly surprised.
