Anniversary

On Sunday, April 6th, is the second anniversary of doing at least 10 minutes of fitness everyday. I have almost always done more than 10 minutes, but there are days where 10 minutes is just enough. Especially when we're in a hotel for hockey.

Exercising everyday became the only way I wouldn't just put it off another day or hit the alarm and sleep in. This is my first appointment, chore, assignment of everyday and I am grumpy if I can't squeeze it in. Having this done first thing makes me ready for my day and hopefully make better choices throughout the rest of the day.

My husband surprised me last year and bought me a new pair of yoga Capri's and a workout shirt. I certainly don't expect presents every time I hit the anniversary, but it was sure nice to have him notice.

This year I am rewarding myself with a few new pairs of skinny pants (thank you Kohls for the sale) that I can wear with my favorite boots.

Bachelorette Party Toy Party Nerves

On Saturday, I am hosting a Bachelorette Party at my house for my sister in law. The bride's sister (maid of honor) is the planner, but my house is the venue. I've heard of emotional eating before with being sad, angry, frustrated and emotions along those lines, but nervous? My mind is going a million miles an hour as I sit at work. I've made about 6 lists of things I need to do. Places I need to go to pick things up. Things I need to clean.

Not to mention the main reason I'm nervous. My sister in law planned a "Pure Romance" party for the bride. And for those of you who don't know what that is, it's an adult toy party. OMG. I looked on their website so my face may not be six shade of red the entire time. All I did was giggle. And blush. They have a whole line of products for people who have read Fifty Shades of Grey. I haven't read it, but have heard enough to know why those product are associated with the book. The bride has been to this type of party before and so she's super excited about it. At the last party she was at, everybody showed each other what they bought. If I even find something to buy, why on earth would I want to show my husband's sisters and cousin what type of stuff I bought. That is just too much of an over share for this girl.

So I'm nervous to be at a party with adult toys and other such products with my sister's in law and their cousin. Maybe one other person will be there. AWKWARD! Hence the nervous eating. You would think I wouldn't get so easily embarrassed at 40, but apparently the mention of certain product makes me act like a teenager.

Tonight I need to meet two of the bridesmaids at the porno store to get decorations for the party.

I can't wait for this weekend to be over.

I will buy more veggies and fruit to munch on so that I don't blow my calorie range too much. And for during the party so I can avert my eyes from the products being shown by the party lady. I really wish it was Tupperware or Lea Sophia.

I haven't read the book yet either. But I could imagine what kind of toys are there emoticon in the shop.

A Stick?

My sister in law is getting married. So last Saturday we were trying on bridesmaids dresses. They say take the next size up from what you normally wear, so I took my normal size. Because I just couldn't take a bigger size. What a rebel!

However, I was able to zip up the dress and still breathe! I couldn't believe it! I step out of the dressing room to show how the dress looks to my sisters in law. And the sister in law that's getting married says "You look like a stick in that dress!" And she doesn't put out complements very often. I didn't know what to say! That's when I know the 6 days a week of cardio and two days a week of strength training are worth it! emoticon

The 4th of July

So we go to my brother and sister in law's house for the yearly 4th of July party. They live right by where the city's fireworks go off so we can watch from the front yard. (Except this year it included grass fires since it's been soooo dry.) They always make way too much food, but this year was out of control. Four or five different courses of salad and grilled meat. Hamburgers, brats, shredded pork, chicken wings, and bacon. Shrimp salad, potato salad. Chips and dip. Fruit. Veggies. Birthday cake for my nephew. The food just kept coming out at various points during the day.

Since it was about 100 degrees (I kid you not), being outside for too long wasn't going to happen unless I kicked the kids out of the small inflatable pool. Instead I kept going back inside where it was cool and there was the next course of deliciousness was calling my name. I didn't have cake or brats or beer. But then again, I never do. I tried the pork. Really lean. Ate lots of veggies (I brought them) and fruit. But potato chips and dip, which rarely make an appearance in my house, were amazing. Grilled corn? Such a treat. I didn't put on any butter. But I still had two ears.

What was I thinking? The next day I was still regretting my overeating since I didn't feel good. I kept telling myself I will be back on track right away. I got up before work and did Cardio Blast with Coach Nicole. (BTW she's awesome). But I was still mad at myself.

Then my hubby, who has been super supportive with the new healthy lifestyle, texts me that he noticed how amazing my arms looked at the party since I've been strength training. Just the boost I needed. It was little nudge I needed to stop beating myself up on my overeating on Wednesday and not do it again.

We'll see how I do next week at my niece's birthday party. Bring. It. On. :)
