I enjoy reading success secrets on SP. It really gives me some great ideas for how I can shape the world around me to better suit my weight loss goals.
For instance, I have now turned my office into weight loss headquarters.
I have my vitamins resting on my desk right where I can see them so I don’t forget to take them. I had a bad habit of forgetting them before, but now it’s hard to miss them.
I have a water bottle at my desk that holds the equivalent of 3 glasses of water so I know how much I’ve drank today and how much more I need to take in. When I come into the office the first thing I do is fill up my bottle. I try to have it completely finished by lunch and then I fill it up again.
I also love the great idea to create a paperclip chain. As I am hoping to lose 60 pounds I have 60 paperclips all hooked together to form a chain (quite long at the moment), but when I begin to shed the pounds I can remove the clips one by one (1 clip=1 lb). This helps me to see how far I’ve come and just how much farther I have to go.
I also will be sneaking in exercise when I can. Leaving the building? Take the stairs. Need to talk to some one? Don’t email or call, walk over there!
I’m also toying with the idea of creating coffee tickets for myself. I’m a HUGE coffee drinker and the free coffee, sugar, milk at the office isn’t helping. I need to stay determined and in order to do that I will need to track (preferably visually) my coffee intake. I was thinking of allotting myself a weekly coffee budget in the form of 6-7 “tickets” that I will keep in a drawer. When I go to get a coffee, I have to remove one ticket from the drawer. If there are no more tickets for that week, then looks like it will be water for me. Once I have adjusted to limited coffee, I think I will then begin removing coffee tickets permanently so I’m down to 3-4 a week. Now that I’ve opened up this can of worms, I think I might also have the coffee tickets determine what goes into my coffee. Have only 1-2 that allow for sugar in my coffee, 1-2 only with milk, and 1-2 with nothing added. That way I’m cutting out even more.
See what happens when you let your imagination go to work? I’ve got to get started on my tickets! :)
