So, I was thinking this morning about setting some personal goals to help me to stay on track. I have seen several blog posts where people have done this, and also a friend of mine sent me a cool website: habitforge.com. It lets your track your goals and form habits with those goals. Check it out!

Following are my goals:

1. I work on the third floor of my building. I often take the elevator because I am too lazy to walk up the stairs (pathethic I know!!). My goal going forward is take the stairs all day every day with the exception of the morning when I am lugging in all of my crap for the day(I'm a teacher and I have a lot of crap). :)

2. To work out 4-5 days per week for 45 minutes to an hour. This includes strength training and cardio.

3. To log my fitness and food on Sparkpeople everyday!

4. To allow myself to fail at times. I am often too hard on myself when I slip up with food or exercise. I am going to try to remember that we are all human and can't be perfect 100% of the time.

5. To continue to not smoke. As of today I haven't had a cigarette in 11 days.

6. To weigh myself only once a week on Saturday. I often weigh myself too much and become discouraged when the scale doesn't show progress.

7. To try new and healthy recipes. My New Year's Resolution was to cook more for me and my husband.

That is all I can think of right now! It felt good to write down my goals!

Keep up the good work Sparkfriends! emoticon

Truckin' Along

Monday, January 11, 2010

Okay....so I am finally feeling better after feeling like poo all weekend! On the bright side, I lost 4 lbs, since I ate next to nothing. On the down side, I have not worked out since Wednesday!

But today is a new day. I am on the mend and am happy to report that today is day 8 without a cigarette, and I am feeling good! I have tracked everything I have eaten so far today, and if I didn't have class tonight I would definitely be at the gym.

Week 2 looking promising so far!

I'm so proud of you for going 8 days without a cigarette--I know that can be really challenging for a person to do. Keep strong--you can do it!

Snow day!

Thursday, January 07, 2010

Days like these make me very glad that I am a teacher. We got about 4 inches of snow last night and school is closed TODAY! That is the pro. The cons include the fact that travel is going to be difficult today so the gym might not happen, and the fact that I will be home all day with the kitchen just a few feet away! Will need to make sure the will power is activated!

Still going strong!!!

I can't begin to express how much better I feel since I have started eating right this week. Stepped on the scale this morning and it hasn't budged, but I am not getting discouraged. Rome was NOT built in a day!

On another note, I have gone 48 hours now without a cigarette! It has been difficult, but not horrible. Hoping it will just get easier from here.

Goals today: Record EVERYTHING I eat on my nutrition tracker
Drink more water
45-60 minutes of cardio tonight

Glad to be back in a routine

Tuesday, January 05, 2010

Though the Christmas season is one of my most favorite times of year, it throws me completely off track eating and exercising wise. Keeping track of calories and making it to the gym are much harder. Though I miss the lights, the gifts, and the good times with family and friends, I am secretly glad to be back into a set routine.

So far this week has been good. I went a few calories over yesterday, but I managed a 45 minute elliptical workout! Tonight is Bodypump class!

I feel good going into 2010. I have not had a cigarette in over 24 hours, and I swear I can feel my lungs healing! emoticon I am trying to keep everything in perspective and I keep telling myself that quitting smoking and trying to lose weight is a tall order. I know there will be good days, and bad days. I just have to keep muddling through! Happy New Year everyone! Keep up the great work!

I'm glad to be back in my normal routine after the holidays. Keep your body moving to help relieve some of the stress from not smoking. YOU CAN LOSE WEIGHT AND QUIT SMOKING! Your body is going to start feeling great from not smoking. Keep positive thoughts that you will do the best you can daily. I'm cheering you on! Take care-Brenda emoticon emoticon emoticon

Best of luck with giving up cigarettes and good going with that elliptical workout.
