Youtube Fitness for the Financially Challenged

Thursday, September 03, 2009

I am a huge fan of 10 minute cardio workouts. It is much easier for me to break up my exercise into three or four 10 minute segments than it is to do it all at once. If try and do a large amount of time at once I am more likely to put it off and find reasons not to do it.

A long while ago when I saw that Sparkpeople had several ten minute cardio videos available on this site (links available below) through youtube for free, I really got excited! The videos are easy to do and the fact that it is just 10 minutes makes it seem a lot less intimidating. After several months though, I've been using the same videos and even though I am thankful that Sparkpeople provides them, I need something new.

I was thinking about buying a few exercise DVD's off Ebay, or checking out my local goodwill, but I still loathed to spend even the smallest amount of money. I decided to check out Youtube. I figured that if Sparkpeople had fitness videos available then perhaps other organizations do as well.

After awhile of searching through the site I came across Paul Eugene. He has many different workouts and they seem to be broken up into ten minute segments. I've only done two videos so far but I plan to do more in the future! Paul Eugene seems very energetic and his movements are very fun to watch! I hope anyone who checks these videos out finds them as fun as I did!

Long story short, if you are craving something different checkout youtube. You might find something you like! Don't forget to share with the rest of your Sparkpeople friends!

I have been looking for something like this--I am new to exercise (or at least "formal" exercise) so I wanted something I could break up. These are perfect!

Thank you so much for posting them!!

Good luck on your journey,

My User Name

Thursday, September 03, 2009

I've always had a thing for original user names. I shy away from using numbers, underscores, or even common words. I suppose it comes from playing several different types of role playing fantasy games and creating imaginative characters.

I must admit though I didn't come up with the name Kassiandora myself. Princess Cassiandora is a computer controlled character in a text based role playing game called Avalon the First Age. I've been playing text based role playing games for about seven years and Avalon the First Age was the very first one I played.

The user name makes me feel special and at times it can easily bring a smile. I find it a very positive motivator.

I RAN!

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Only for six minutes and I had to walk in between but I finished what I wanted to do. I was very winded I still have more exercising to do but It feels good knowing that I did this.

Yesterday I was bad, added over 1000 calories to my diet because I went out with a friend to Applebee's after work. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had not have had the Mudslide!

I don't think of it too much as a set back. I am ready to work today and I am feeling good!

You should check out the Jeff Galloway team...training for any lenth of race or no race at all. They are a very supportive group for all levels of runners. Galloway advocates adding walking intervals into your running program. It helps if you understand that periodic walking breaks are actually a good thing.

Congrats on the run my friend! I am trying to get my knee back in shape so I can do some running. I am going to try the run/walk thing that you did. Great Job!

And don't worry about the calories. If you keep doing what you are doing, those calories will mean nothing! Enjoy yourself! You deserve it!
Keep on being a inspiration to me K!

You should feel good! I know how amazing it feels to reach your running goal. I ran for the first time in years just a few weeks ago, and I still feel on top of the world!

Congratulations! Use the momentum from your enthusiasm and keep it up!

Your are a success and your renewed determination will keep you a success. Do something totally different than your standard routine. Go out dancing, play some basketball, rollerskate, bowling, do something you haven't done since you were a kid just for the fun of it. Let loose. If you can, take someone along. Break out of routine it will charge your up so you can continue on. You sound like it is not just a plateau about losing but a rut from doing the same thing over and over again. Put on some crazy music and dance like you have never danced before. You are unique and special and you should celebrate that.

I think we all struggle and succeed, we just have to focus on the success more then our struggles.
I am starting again after losing 170lb, and I have gained 50lb. back! I want so badly to feel good and be a healthier person. It just seems so easy to get back into old habits and then feel like you'll never make it. Looking at all the success here, I believe I can make it!
Thank you all. You are so inspiring.
Best to us all,
Tina

Isn't it funny that when we actually tell the truth on ourselves about our crazy thoughts and resulting feelings that we somehow get the needed energy to remove the power the lies have on us. Thanks for reminding me to pay attention to my thoughts and feelings and take the wind out of the sails of sabotage! Keep going! I am amazed at your 100 lbs of progress!

    Great Post K!
I look forward to logging on to SP everyday and I love the support we give to one another! I mean people don't have to be on your team in order to give or get support from a SP member Sometimes it is the support we get that helps us to get over that mountain that is in our way!
Thank you for a great post!

Make sure you are feeding your brain...I find that If I get plenty of low fat protein...(like chicken breasts...and eggs...salmon...tuna) and good healthy fats...like olive oil and vinegar salad dressing...my cravings go down...I think it is because these foods feed my brain in a way that even good carbs do not...

I do believe in eating healthy whole grains...fruits and veggies too...but somehow when I start tilting more of my calories to these foods I crave not so good carbs more...

Therefore...I find that it's very important for me to feed my brain...so it works with me...not against me...

Good luck to you...you are really doing awesome...Glad there was someone to help you through when you needed it. That's the beauty of sp!!

You can do it. And if you can lose 100 pounds and I know that's not easy you can lose whatever amount you want. I hope I can be like you to lose 100 pounds soon. And you look great. So keep doing what you do. And eat healthy and buy nothing but healthy foods for your house and you will be able to succeed. Anything is possible when you give it your all.

Gen Con is a Convention all about Gaming. Paul, Sara, and I went last week. We only stayed two days, but next year we plan to stay the entire four days! I had a blast. This was the first time EVER that I have worn a sleeveless shirt in public. I was very nervous about it but eventually I said "What the heck." and I started to feel comfortable with myself!

I had a great time.
