OMG! First of all, I can't believe I used textspeak. I'm just so darn tired! So, I'm trying to use this feeling to focus my resolve to get healthier. Until I have a trying and tiring day like this, where I don't feel like I'm as "on top of it" as I should be, I have a hard time remembering what I'm doing all this for. I love my kids! I want to be a better teacher!

So far, so good today! I've plowed through a pile of paperwork, completed my first sets of upper body strength training, and planned our meals for the week. Now I just need to talk myself into venturing out in the rain for a walk.

Reflecting on yesterday's blog, it's probably really good that I had to struggle to meet that goal. Too many things in my life I achieved without much difficulty. A bit of a hurdle really helped motivate and focus me! PTL it didn't derail me instead! emoticon


Finally Met 5 Mile Goal

Oh, my gosh! Who would have thought that walking 5 miles in a week would be such a challenge? I set this goal 5 weeks ago, and today marks the first time I've met it! It's been quite a journey. When I began my trek with sparkpeople, I really had no idea how unhealthy I was. I thought five miles a week would be a cinch, and dove into zumba and walking with alacrity. Soon, I was experiencing way too much knee pain but kept trying to increase my activity level. Only after a trip to the doctor did the pain recede enough to allow me to make the 5 mile mark. If I hadn't started working out, my arthritis would continue to be undiagnosed. Now, though, arthritis is just one more reason to lose weight!

Another Awesome Day of Sunshine

Well, I had a little traffic trouble so didn't quite make my goal of 30 minutes straight this morning. However, I was satisfied with my heart-pounding 23 minute power walk, and my knee feels fine!
