Yeah, I said it, and I meant it. Exercise rocks! I never would have thought when I started sparking, just a year ago, that I would ever say it, let alone mean it. I've come along way in the last 12 months, thanks to Sparkpeople and my amazing Sparkfriends.
On the way home from work today, I was feeling disgusted with myself for indulging (twice!) in some yummy carrot cake today, but I didn't stay in that frame of mind for long. Instead, I started cataloguing all the things I'd done right today, including squeezing a couple of walks into my day. I didn't stay down and get maudlin; Sparkpeople has given me the knowledge and support to make positive changes. Sure I went over my calorie goal for today, but that can't keep me down. After a ride on my stationary bike and a nice, healthful dinner, I'm too darn happy! Exercise rocks! It's such a mood lifter!

I've still not gained weight! That's amazing!!! I'm somewhat sad that I haven't lost yet, either, but since I'm having such a difficult time staying within my calorie range, it is simply stunning that I haven't packed on any pounds!
I credit an overall better attitude and an improved activity level. Rather than just going home and sitting in front of the television, I'll chop wood, ride my bike for a while after dinner, and putter around the house for a bit before plopping down in front of that insidious device known as the "TV." (By the way, I'm up to 20 minute sessions on my bike!)

I'm really enjoying my new exercise bike! I got on it five days out of seven last week. It works pretty well. My only complaint is that I can't adjust the resistance enough to give me a serious challenge, like biking up a hill, as the ones in the gym do. On the other hand, it's in my house, so I don't have to drive to the gym or come up with an excuse to not use it as much as time allows. Last night, I rode for 15 minutes and made it over 5 "miles." :) Today, I created a chart to log my daily efforts. When the bike at our school gym broke last spring, I was up to a 40 minute really tough workout. I can't wait to get my butt and legs conditioned so I can do it again!
Combined with my, somewhat, renewed interest in keeping within my calorie range, I'll be back on the weight-loss wagon in no time!

Sweet success! I met my goal for yesterday! I only had one serving of dessert! Wow, I've been eating a lot of sweets. It kind of blows my mind. I feel great, and I'm certain that I'll stay within my calorie range and only have a single serving again today. I'd forgotten how success breeds success!

Since that Christmas party, I've been overindulging in sweets almost daily, and going over my caloric range by an average of 1,000! There is some good news: I've still been active: shoveling snow, chopping firewood, and getting little workouts on my new exercise bike, so the scale has not reflected my poor eating habits. I've got to break the habit of snacking for an hour every night, though. I want my calories to reflect some nutrition. I'll start by eating a single portion this evening, and I will not buy any more sweets. Snacks will be fruit.
