Reflection on Patience

Tuesday, December 04, 2012

As I've traveled this road toward healthier living, I've also had an opportunity to reflect on patience. We are so used to immediate gratifacation, that it's a challenge to adopt the "slowest loser" attitude when it comes to weight loss. But, if this lifestyle change is going to really take hold and last, it's going to take a long time.

Life's road isn't smooth, and I've encountered several pot holes, cracks, and gravel pits over the last 9 months. I've made it over, around, or through each of them. While I've not been losing weight for the last two months, I've not given up my effort toward a healthy lifestyle. Sure, I'm eating like a pig, but I'm still working out! I'll get there. Good things come to those who persevere.

While the timing of life's mishaps hasn't been great, what an awesome opportunity I've been given to develop patience! Gotta love that positive Spark attitude; always look on the bright side of things! ;)

So beautifully said! And so smart to give yourself a break, while still working on your fitness regardless! I am taking the focus off the weight loss and working on my behavior instead. Thank you for always being such a sweet, caring and supportive friend. emoticon emoticon

$ Yikes!

Saturday, December 01, 2012

The well guy is speculating that I just have a broken pipe in my well, so the repair should ONLY cost around $750.

Praying things get better for you. After having moved several times in my 32 years of marriage I do know that things do happen. Hang in there and enjoy your new home!

ONLY $750?!....Good thing it wasn't anything serious. Sorry to hear about your well. News like that is always hard to swallow, especially around the holidays. Keep your chin up. emoticon

Home Ownership 101!

Thursday, November 29, 2012

My brother, Edward, sagely advised me this summer, "You should plan for things to go wrong; once you're a homeowner, little things cost big money." We are (finally!) getting ready to move in. Phil had two things on his to-do list yesterday: get the water and power turned on & rip out the cabinets, sink, and stove in the apartment. Unfortunately, he failed at both.

The water didn't come on. The plumber who consulted with Phil this morning suggested calling a well guy. Yikes! I don't have enough money for a new well.

The stove from the apartment broke to pieces when removed. That means that the one that came with the house will go into the apartment, and I'll pick a new one for the house. I'll get the one I want, which is good, but there's another unplanned expense. Yikes, again!

I sure hope this gets fun soon!

Lots To Be Thankful For!

Thursday, November 22, 2012

At the top of my list of things to be thankful for is a new home. We finally signed for our pretty little piece of property yesterday and plan on moving next weekend!

I'm thankful for being on a journey toward improved health.

I'm also exceptionally thankful for all my wonderful, supportive friends: everyone at work, my Sparksisters, the book club ladies, Eric and Karrie, my Phil, and so many more who treat me like family. Blessings to you this holiday season, and happy Thanksgiving!

Just now catching up with Spark! Congratulations on your new home!
I am probably weird but I like moving, something refreshing about a new start. Cleaning out the old and bringing in the new!
Keep up with good eating habits while you move!
