Getting Creative

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Yes, moving all that bark was great exercise! Thanks for the reminder, sparkfriend TIRED49! I've been looking for more projects like this around the property since zumba didn't work due to arthritic knees and since walking didn't work due to severe foot pain. All it takes is a little change of attitude to make "work" feel like "play" and an OPPORTUNITY to work out. :)

I do lots of exercise on the recumbent bike, but my favorite is outside working. Especially planting flowers. I have to do a lot of crawling around and stretching to get it done. Fun exercise! Especially after I see all the blooms emoticon

Underestimated!

Monday, April 23, 2012

I think my guess of "at least 1,000 pounds" of bark in the woodshed was a gross underestimate! I toted 8 wheelbarrows full to the burn pile, and then Phil and I filled his truck bed with the stuff!

Clean Woodshed!

Sunday, April 22, 2012

My chore today is to clean all of the bark out of the woodshed. That should be enough of a physical challenge for today! I bet there's at least 1,000 pounds of red fir bark! emoticon

Thank You!

Good-Bye!

Friday, April 20, 2012

I made the decision to put Rusty down this afternoon. It was the right thing to do; I'd read a ton of advice and watched him struggle the last few days, but it was still awfully difficult. Phil was really helpful and demonstrated with his tender heart and practical assistance, just why I love him so much!

Rusty was a wonderful friend and companion over the last 13 years. I got him so I wouldn't be scared up in the woods by myself, but I had no idea what a stout and ferocious heart he had. He fought coyotes, moose, bobcat, and bear in defense of our home. His loyalty was golden right up to the end.

We'll miss him.

awwwwwwwwwwww so sorry to hear you had to do that. But it sounds like it was the right thing to do, even though it was hard. Let your memories live on forever!! I mean you had me at coyote.

Take Care!

Awwww I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, they become family and we ache for them just as much as if they were one of our kids. He sounds like he really loved you also protecting you against such wild animals, he's in a better place now and is at peace.
God Bless! emoticon

Sorry for your loss. It's a hard decision to make, but it sounds like it was the right one. Have had to make that decision myself a few times over the years. Still is a hard thing to do. You still have all the beautiful memories.
