SPARKS...it makes me so proud that I am a part of this group....

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Today I saw a miracle happen...A leader came on and asked for team leaders to rally around and help to uplift a member of her team that was very discouraged and down on herself. I read on this person's blog the most loving, and giving comments that anyone could ask for... Here's my summation that I wrote to these loving and giving people....

"It is wonderful and makes me so proud ... that a group of people can come together in kindred spirit and show such love for someone in the way I saw on her blog. Sparks is truly a unique group of loving, and giving people. It makes me very proud of all of you, and everyone on Sparks ...that there are people, that really care if something ever happened in our lives and we needed someone to be there!! Way to go Sparkpeople!! you have surely made a difference in her life...and let's thank God for this great opportunity."

.....so again I say.... I am honoured to be a part of Sparkpeople!!!!!

That is so true and I am so glad that you stated such a positive blog about SP. I try to explain SP to others and they just look at me like I am pulling their leg but it is so true. Even though most never meet, the support and encouragement is so positive and giving as if we are members of a very close family. I am proud to be a sparker too.

4 MONTHS !!!...........

Thursday, June 04, 2009

After 4 months on Sparks it is time to send out a great big huge THANK-YOU !!to all of the people who have supported and encouraged me on this journey to health and fitness. If I started to name people I would have to go on forever...so that I will not even attempt to do. I do not know where I would be without you all !! It has been an up-and-down journey , with low points and high points. Many of you have been there more than once to pick me up off the ground. I think most of all it has been one of the best learning experiences of my life!! I look forward to the next 4 months ahead...with great excitement and expectation. I hope that all of you have been there for me know that I will be there for you also, if and when, you need me!!! Who would have thought that when I ran across this site 4 months ago while cruising thru my email that it would have led to such an exciting journey. This journey has only just begun... Thanks again... to all my spark buddies ... and to the ones which I will meet in the future !! karen

Today I was busy again...one of the things I accomplished was getting my puppy all groomed... and I must say looking spiffy! The whole process is quite exhausting and I am now starting to understand why people shave...all their dogs hair off.............. I haven't done that yet...cause I figure he is going to look pretty strange without all that hair. But the whole job from beginning to end took about....2 hours....and with his excitable personality (?) it is quite a workout!! I figure the equivalency of raking the yard for about an hour...no make that an hour and a half... But I definitely think he feels better when it is all done; not just cause he has my constant attention for a extended amount of time...but I figure it must feel pretty good to be all clean, and sweet smelling!!(for a change) anyways...there is a small amount of satisfaction for myself as well. A job well done!! so...until the next time.....

We have one eskie we shave in the summer. He has a thick, ropey coat and it always mats no matter how hard we try to keep it up. He also has a hyper personality so it's a real chore to get him shaved at all. I always say I'm going to take him to a groomer but I never do. Your pup looks good!

Awww he's such a cute dog! What's his name? I can imagine it took 2 hours... my sister has a dog that has kind of wiry looking hair... she almost looks like a red healer dog, but we're not sure of her breed. Someone dropped her and her brother off along side the road, then someone picked them up and brought them to the vet clinic where my sister worked... my sis was working one Thanksgiving feeding all the animals and doing the general chores, she took my mom, she told mom that if someone didn't come and take them off of their hands, they'd have to put them down, well mom saw the 2 puppies and said no we can't let that happen to them... she soon took them home and we decided to give them both good homes, we found a good home for the brother, but her we couldn't find a home for, my sister ended up getting attached and so she's now my sister's dog, she's such a fuzzy dog, that we ended up calling her Fuzzy, lol. Anyway, her hair can get so long and so tangled, well not as long as your dog's fur, but still it gets so messy. So in the summer she starts to trim her and then when it gets hotter in the summer she shaves pretty much all the fur off of her, she does not look like her normal self, but she seems to feel so much better as she's not so hot.
Anyway, great job on getting a workout with your dog being the center of attention, lol. They need the love and attention too. But PJCHILIS is right, we all need pampering once in a while. When's the last time you got to have yourself some pampering? ;)

As you can see we finally can celebrate the arrival of the spring flowers here in Saskatchewan.

It makes me think of how we grow here on Sparks.. we start out as a small bulb... and slowly, but surely we peek thru the ground, then we grow tall, open leaves, a bud appears, slowly it takes colour, and there it is.... a perfect flower.

ahh ... yes... to the world we may not appear perfect, but for every brownie we have turned down, and every time we turn away from the fast-food, for every time we drag ourselves onto the stationary bike.... in the end it is worth it. Our journey is long, and it is hard... but we do it !!! and then finally we look in the mirror and we have blossomed into that "perfect flower" and we have become the most that we can be...and we "live"!!!

Our tulips are LONG GONE but in Missouri

Enjoy them cause they don't last LONG ENOUGH.

I was reading thru my emails today and this caught my eye... I don't spend much time reflecting back to those years when my mom and dad were first together but it sure is interesting to see what it was like and how people thought. Take a look at this little goodie......

Boy have things changed... I know with Bill and I we kind of take turns on the barbecue. I enjoy it when he does barbecue cause it gives me a break from the cooking (he is not kitchen oriented). Yes, .... and so I also must agree "cave men" ...... not for me !!!!
