One Year Sparkversary

Sunday, March 27, 2011

So it's been a year with Spark. I've lost another 20 pounds but most importantly I've learned a lot about nutrition and fitness and have gotten into some healthy habits. Although I'm still tracking fitness and nutrition, I find that I've got a better handle on portion sizes and portion control. I've taken the step to using free weights and have tried out a few things, like fitness classes and rock climbing, that I wouldn't have dreamed of a year ago.

Looking forward to the next year with Spark!

    Hi KARATE_KID;

You are doing great and I too would like to take some classes at the gym. Once I get done with my chemo treatments and get my strength back I am going to look into it. Spark has helped me live a good life and get strong to face my medical problems. Keep up the healthy life style. God bless you always. Learn from Spark people every day.

Joyce

I, too, recently celebrated my 1 year Sparkversary! Congrats on your weight loss and on all of your new-found knowledge! We are very lucky to have learned about SP and have the opportunity to interact with others who are also on their path to health & wellness. It's great to dream and find out your dreams CAN come true! emoticon

I'm doing this for fun?!?

Friday, March 18, 2011

OMG - I went to Group Power tonight and my arms are still shaking, 2.5 hours later. If somebody paid me for doing this I would walk out on them.

It's good for me...it's good for me...it's good for me...

Killer Yoga Again

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

I've done yoga for a while and don't normally feel sore the next day, but this week and last week was pretty challenging. Sensei wanted to see my brown belt katas today - there are a few moves that made my already sore muscles say "uncle"! But at least the second hour was sparring - lots of fun as usual.

Yoga has been making me sore lately too. Though I've been going fairly regularly. It's just that our teacher seems to have decided that we need more challenge. After successfully getting in the air for Scales posture, the muscles under my shoulder blades (I have muscles there?) were sore for three days.

Today was headstands and rotating bow posture to side bow to bridge. I can't wait to see what hurts tomorrow.

Finally getting the hang of this

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Yesterday I had Indian food AND Chocolate Fondue AND stayed within my calories AND lost a pound.

I made the Low Fat Butter Chicken from SP Recipes, had only 1/2 cup of rice, chose roti instead of naan, and planned my calories around the dinner/dessert.

Not so good day

Tuesday, February 08, 2011

Yesterday I was at an all-day union meeting. We meet at a hotel that serves very yummy but not necessarily healthy food. Long story short, I had 2 of everything.

But since I've been there before, at least I mitigated the damage by having only fruit for breakfast, and after I got home I was still stuffed so I had no more food that day. But still... it's so easy to fall back into bad habits.

Today is a new day and new choices to be made - and they WILL be good ones!
