Why are some people so mean when I'm trying to help them?
I'm the union steward at work and right now there are a number of problems going on. The most frustrating part is when our members refuse to help themselves and expect everything will be taken care of for them.
When I got home, my old cat was doing poorly. He's been shutting down for a few days now - I don't think he'll be around much longer. I'm ok with that because he's had a very good, very long life, but I'm still feeling sad.
Things kind of went out of my head and I didn't remember to call one of our members until around 8:30. She doesn't respond to emails and she may be in some financial trouble if she doesn't take some action so I'm trying to explain that to her. But before I can even introduce myself she's jumping down my throat why I'm calling her "so late at night". Gosh, I didn't think 8:30 was that late, but I apologized anyway and tried to explain her situation and her options but she was downright hostile. In retrospect, I should have said "I'm calling to tell you that you won a million dollars but since it's too inconvenient for you I'll go on to the next person." Click.
Anyway, I've done my part. If she wants to be stupid that's her outlook. I'll go and cuddle with my cat now.
