At goal weight for a year already!

Friday, November 07, 2014

I cant believe I've been at my goal weight for a year! Yeah me.
I still rarely eat processed food. I can tell when I've had too much, my body lets me know.
I have to stay away from gluten, msg, milk and soft cheeses.
I still have a problem with my thyroid and feel tired at times, but for the most part I feel pretty good.

I've been busy with book club and classes so haven't had much time to be on here. I guess I'm living.

I love Fridays

Friday, October 18, 2013

Tonight Al and I are going out to dinner with his brother and SIL. We always have a good time. I have to be on good behavior because my friend is picking me up early tomorrow to go to Chicago for StyleMax again. Last time I went I got two dresses that I love. Maybe this time I'll find some cute skirts. I'm looking forward to a weekend in Chicago with the girls.

At the cabin

Saturday, August 31, 2013

We arrived at our cabin at 6:30 last night. It was great to get here while the sun was out. I'm hoping I don't get any panic attacks. Usually I get one big one while in the boat because when we tie up at the sand bar our boat inevitably crashes into the boat next to us. I'm floating in my water chair and can see it happening, and the guys are in the boat oblivious to this. I'm sure the people next to us don't appreciate their boat getting scratched up. The guys just yell back to me they got it under control, but they don't!

One problem is the anchor they bought is so cheap it can't hold our boat in place. DH has mentioned this to me, but my BIL bought it and doesn't like to spend money even on a better product.

We're going on the boat this afternoon. I'm not sure how I'll do since I'm already worked up. I'm going to try thinking positive thoughts like... Warmth of the sun, feel of the water.

Breathe; just breathe...deep and slow...in and out...visualize a beautiful day and a relaxing boat ride. Enjoy yourself.

Some more positive thoughts for you: Freedom, feeling close to nature, wind in your face, opportunity to get away from it all. You're very blessed. I hope you had a great time.

My vegan experience

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

My vegan experience.... Well, the actual eating and making my lunches went well. I felt good with no pain or hunger. Once I found some recipes it was quite easy.

However, I was verbally abused by DH and SIL who didn't understand why I was doing this even after I explained it. They thought it was an affront on them and did NOT take it well. Thank God the month is over! I'm back eating meat but I'm in great pain. Not sure if the pain is from meat or some food allergy or just moving the wrong way. I did have a fun night of dancing right before the pain attack. My IBS kicked in the last 3 days of being vegan and that could have something to do with the pain.

My Dr thinks I have a food allergy which is making inflammation in my body. Narrowing it down has proven difficult. If someone has any tips on figuring out an allergy I'm all ears.

Gosh, I am right there with you. I just found out that I have an allergy to Wheat, Oats and Whole Milk and it is a whole new world for me. Not sure how allergic or which problem is caused by this allergy!

Good luck in figuring it out!

Sorry that you weren't getting support at home. Anjay (Anjays-Journey) has some inflammation issues and I know that she was seeing someone. She had to slowly add things back in to see what caused the problem. She might be able to give you some pointers. emoticon

Could definitely be an allergy to red meat. Or Wheat gluten. You might want to do a test for Celiac disease. You could try eliminating all gluten from your diet and see if you notice a difference, gluten is everywhere. Also, you might want to check out "eating right for your blood type".. It makes sense to me.

Hope you can reach some sort of conclusion as to what is causing all the inflamation. If you are eating a lot of red meat, you probably need some digestive enzymes ?? emoticon

Unfortunately, I don't have any advice on how to figure out if it's an allergy or not. My DH has IBS and he pretty much has to watch dairy. He can eat it, but only in small portions. It's very hard on his system. He has found that eating paleo friendly foods keeps his IBS in check. I don't know if you have tried that lifestyle or not, but maybe you could try it.

Good luck

Need a change

Saturday, July 13, 2013

Lately I've been feeling bloated and congested. I noticed I've been eating more red meat and think that might be doing it. I'm going to try vegan meals for the next 30 days and see if I feel better. DH already said he's not giving up meat and that's ok, I'll just make my dinners along with the lunches I already make for the week and eat that. I store the meals in containers in the frig and when I leave for work just grab one for lunch. He can have his meat/ fish/ chicken and I'll have my prepared go-to dinner in the frig.

I already have a soup that I love to eat, I'll just have to substitute chicken broth for veggie broth. I'm also going to start up again my veggie juicing in the morning. DH always loved that when I'd make it for breakfast before he leaves for work. The trick is to get the veggies prepared at night, stick them in the frig in a container so it's easy and fast to make in the morning. If you have to peel, wash and chop in the morning it takes forever.

I just can't seem to get rid of this inflammation in my head and actually all over. It got worse when I had 4 straight days of meat: baby pork ribs, ribeye steak, hamburger, and smoked ham (that was to die for and not salty at ALL). DH will be supportive, but it's going to be tricking going out to eat with my girl friends. Which I did last night and my head feels terrible along with my gut.

I guess I'll start sending out mails to my friends saying I need to try this for a month and see. Thank God Madison has a bunch of vegan restaurants, we'll just have to go to those. Ok, off to HyVee I go to get my goodies.

Good luck with your plan. I was trying to juice more to get rid of inflammation and skin issues but couldn't do it totally. I think the transition away from meat to vegan might be a bit easier. Good luck with it. Let me know how you are doing with it.
