I've been MIA from this site for AGES. I still use my SP iPhone app sporadically but I haven't blogged in many moons. I have been lurking around this week and decided I should finally post a blog entry. Nothing much to say except that I am trying to get back into the "spark" of things. I am returning to Haiti this summer and then a family beach vacation as well and I just really want 2012 to be the year I FINALLY reach my weight loss goals. I am about 8lbs heavier than I was last summer - so that means I am still playing "catch up" at this point. Just praying I don't have many days like yesterday. I have tracked my food and done great all week then yesterday I crashed & burned and woke up with a major food hangover :( BUT today is a new day so I'm moving forward.

    Glad you found your way back.
If you need encouragement then we're here for you. Just yell and we'll come running. I'm sure you can lose some of those pounds before all those wonderful vacations you're planning.

    Thanks, Kimmirita! And actually back in January I was 20lbs heavier than last summer!! So I have lost 12lbs since January which isn't too bad...

Final results for Fitness Challenge.

Wouldn't you know it - I got up this morning feeling all the aches, pains, and bloating of TOM about to hit!! My scales were showing around 2.5lbs MORE than what they have been the past week. Kinda sad since I had to go have my final weigh in. And yes... My scales were right. I showed no weightless since the last weigh in. That made my official loss for the 8 week challenge 12lbs, down 2% body fat, and down 4.5 inches in my waist. I really wish I would have lost 15lbs but I'm actually quite confident that if it wasn't that time of the month - I'd have at least shown a 14lb loss.... Maybe even the 15lbs I was aiming for.
I'm actually considering coaching my own team next time. I have gone thru the challenge twice and it's actually great motivation being on a team and having all those workout partners for 8 weeks.
In other news... I'm supposed to photograph an outdoor wedding today held in the Botanical Gardens and it's THUNDERSTORMING! Not looking forward to that this evening :(

Ok that's not completely true... I track my calories, water, fitness minutes, etc on my iPhone app all the time! But I haven't visited sparkpeople.com or blogged since January...
I have been doing a Fitness Challenge at my gym since about mid April. Tomorrow is the last weigh in. The way it works is you pay the entry fee of $45 and you are put on a team for 8 weeks. You get full access to the gym (not a big deal for me since I am already a member) BUT each team is assigned a fitness trainer for that 8 weeks. You work out as a team with your trainer at least once a week. They give you a diet plan and everything... we have had 2 weigh ins so far and I have lost 12lbs. I had HOPED that I would lose 15lbs during the 8 weeks and that would put me BACK to the weight I was LAST June. Yes... I had put on 15lbs by the first of the year since I went off the sparkwagon last summer. Several failed attempts to get back on had not helped at all. I had been losing and gaining the same 5lbs since the Fall. So I am pretty excited that I have lost the 12lbs so far! Tomorrow is the last weigh in and the challenge is over - hopefully I will have lost that last 3lbs. Even if I didn't... I measured my waist today and I have lost 4.5 inches since we started the challenge!!! Very excited about that!
I am going to try to blog more... I always thought it was helpful to check in with my sparkfriends every day. For some reason I just feel too busy lately... but I m going to make time.

    You sound like you are making progress. The Spark program is obviously becoming a part of your lifestyle. Good job. I'm new so it is helpful to read the blogs of other members who have more experience.

And stranded. Yesterday I discovered that my car battery was dead. My van was blocked by Josh's truck and he had the keys with him 100 miles away on a work trip. So no one could even come over to jump start my van! Even though I probably could have gotten out in the 6 inches of snow (hey, that's a lot for where I live) I had no transportation. Stuck here for two days. With two kids that have strep throat. Ugh! Having said all of that... today was one of THOSE days! I started tracking my food until around 3pm. Everything after that is a blur of carbs and calories. I got a serious case of the munchies and honestly lost count of how many Hawaiian sweet rolls I ate today.

Now I am sick to my stomach and - maybe it's just the power of suggestion- my throat feels a little weird. Hopefully I am just suffering from calorie overload and not the beginnings of strep throat. Tomorrow I will do better. I promise :)

By the way... we had a new addition to our family this week. CoCo is our 6 week old yorkie. She is our FIRST family pet ever! Josh and I had a dog and a cat before we had kids... that's been about 12 years ago. I am not normally an animal lover. Some would even call me "anti-animals". BUT CoCo (as in CoCo Chanel) and I are already pretty good friends. It was about time for me to have another girl around here :)

  Your little dog is adorable! I pray that you don't come down with strep throat. I would say enjoy the snow but there is a reason we moved from Massachusetts to Arizona! I enjoy the nice
weather in the winter and even the HOT of the summer. Enjoy your puppy--she is very, very cute!

    What a cute puppy, no wonder the two of you have made such good friends! And enjoy the snow day while you can I wait for them (the snow has to be waist high before that happens this far north) there is nothing better than cuddling up with a blanket and shutting the world out, have fun!

First week weigh in

I weighed in this morning and I have lost 2lbs! I'm pretty satisfied with that! I only worked out one day last week (yesterday). I am committing to working out 3 days this week. I also tracked my food 5 days last week and this week my goal is to track 6 days. I still have 6 lbs to lose to play "catch up" to what I weighed last summer before I totally lost my spark. My goal is to lose those 6 lbs by my birthday next month. Today is Jan 19 and my birthday is February 26. I will have 5 weigh ins between now and then. So if I can stay on track with my calories and work out 3-5 times a week until then - that goal should be easy to make.

Happy 9th Birthday to my sweet little Ethan :)
