Back on track...

Whew I am happy that I'll be able to get back on track today.

Last week I was sick a good part of the week and while I tried to get some exercise I did what my body wanted me to do, and rested a lot. I'm happy to be feeling better and ready to work out!!

Whew lots of cardio today

I started out this morning with a walk with my daughter..we walked for 50 minutes at 5:40 a.m. so that she would be home in time for the first of her eight daycare children to arrive.

I followed that with a 45 minute recumbent bike ride...and then later in the day I did that again...90 minutes of riding!

I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes and marched in place for 10 minutes. It was just one of those days that I had a lot of energy and motivation to work out. Love days like this!

Love Walking Early in the Morning...

I love that it gets light so early in the day and that my daughter and I are getting in a walk 3 or 4 mornings a week. It is a beautiful time of the day and I feel accomplished early in the day.

I really love it if I add riding my recumbent bike as well...by 7:10 this morning I had met my FitBit step goal. I'll get to add more steps on all day long. I love challenging myself to reach for more steps and delight in looking at how many I've taken at different points in the day.

  I love mornings walks as well. The trail I go to is a safe trail to walk alone, for there are others walkers as well. It is on the out skirts of a golf course. So there is always someone near by.
My favorite part of the trail is seeing the deer coming out and the smell of blooming flowers and wild life. The sprinklers they water the golf course with is also misting the trail lightly which this time of year is a bonus.

Allowing for days off

It seems like lately when I take a day off of exercise I feel guilty about not moving enough.

Because I am retired I don't get a lot of passive steps so I really try to concentrate on getting in enough exercise to meet my step goal daily.

I wish I would get off of my own back.

    Just remember that rest is as important to muscle recovery and development as exercise is. As a NY'er passive steps are easy for me to get. I walk everywhere,,,,supermarket, drug store, work, etc. But for people who live with cars it's harder to get them in. When I go visit my mom in the burbs, I make sure to park as far away from what ever store I'm going to as possible. So if I go to the bagel shop in town I park a block or two away. If I go to the mall, I park on the side of the lot furthest from the store I actually want to go to, forcing me to walk all the way thru the mall to get where I want to go. Just a few suggestions. But don't beat yourself up over rest days!

Lots of Exercise Today...

...wow, I've gotten in a lot of exercise today.

I went for a 40 minute walk, rode my recumbent bike for 45 minutes, mowed the lawn for 30 minutes and did the 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds for Abs. It feels so good to really move and watching my FitBit numbers go up encourages me too!
