Enjoying Sunday

Sunday, May 27, 2012

I had today off as my Memorial holiday and I really needed it. My knee is bothering me and I wonder if my double workout session yesterday is causing a flare up. I hope not, because I need my knees to be strong. emoticon

I started the day with worship service at this new church I discovered three weeks ago. Right after that I finally saw the movie The Avengers. I wasn't all that impressed, I went to a different theatre than the one I normally go to and it wasn't all that great and I didn't like the matinee pricing. I got a long awaited hand massage and manicure and then went to buy some church shoes. My lackluster collection and sense of style needed a little sprucing up. Granted I would have like to have purchase a pair of Tory Burch ballerina flats, but for that price I would have paid for one pair of that designer shoe, I was able to pick up three pairs at Designer Shoe Warehouse and still have some change left over. I did a little grocery shopping and came home and watched some movies on my Roku system. I was planning on getting in some cardio at the gym, but with my knee feeling a bit sore and plus my neck is stiff, I decided to wait until tomorrow morning to hit it and quit it for week three of C25k emoticon

C25k training and Farmers Market

Saturday, May 26, 2012

Today started off early with C25k training with a run/walk group run. I managed well despite the humidity. As we were finishing up, the instructor challenged me to run more at the end. I did it and boy that felt good. For some reason, my hands are sore, but other than that I was glad to complete my task. He said that it is nothing wrong with getting a little extra cardio in, so for week two, I did four sessions of cardio-not bad to get me moving and grooving emoticon

I visited a Life Time Fitness that is just six minutes up the street from me. Literally. It opened two years ago and this club has everything I need to get me to thinner thighs. I meet with the Team Weight Loss coordinator, took a tour and just feel in love. They also offer spa services, including pedicures/manicures/eyebrow arches/facials/massages. They have swimming classes, rock climbing wall, basketball courts, sauna and steamrooms, pilates, yoga, just about everything on my list. I am revising my budget again emoticon, paying off stuff for the last time to make this a part of my everyday life. I did my fourth workout there today and burned some more calories. They have an indoor/outdoor pool and whirlpools to help ease my aching joints. I can come straight in after work and get my groove on since they are open 24 hours.

I ventured down to KC Farmers market after C25k this morning. Loaded up with fresh vegetables and some fruit-like strawberries. Picked up kale, zuchinni, potatoes, parley, some mango jalapeņo jam, jalapeņos, and some other stuff I can't think of right now. Grabbed some new spices from the spice table since that was the topic at WW meeting a couple of days ago. Yes, those evil Amish ladies were there, tempting me with their homemade rolls and cookies. I as good and didn't go crazy like last year.

Life is good this Memorial Day weekend. I have tomorrow night off, plan on going to church, see a movie and maybe a light lunch with some co-workers. Yes, God truly provides the things I need!

Having a Plan

Thursday, May 24, 2012

There is a difference in having a plan and execution of it. I have a financial plan to get back on track and fully will be implementing it. I cut back on spending (birthday is over) and plan on moving forward in getting set up for a fantastic cardio style summer. C25k is going well, scale victory today at WW meeting and I have one shift to finish strong tonight, then I am off for a three day weekend. No repeat of last Memorial Day weekend (water damage from leaking apartment above). I am going to enjoy God's blessings and make the best of what life has to offer. I am thrilled about this new church I have found and they have Saturday weekend prayer which I will incorporate into my schedule. I am going to whip up some new vegetarian dishes for a meatless Memorial day holiday and get my groove on with C25k training on Saturday. I hope to take in a new movie, we shall see. Most of all I will give God the glory, the honor and the praise!

Giving it Time

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

I am allowing myself to get use to this run/walk thing. I am giving it time. I am down five pounds emoticon, making better choices of food and watching my portions. The new shoes and compression socks are working out okay so far for me. I am tracking my steps as I also practice my so called running form. I am keeping God's word first and foremost in my mouth and mind and not giving into adversaries of this world. I am learning to exhale, let it out, let go and let God work His miraculous works emoticon

"Be anxious for nothing"...as the the prayer begins in the book of Philippians. Letting God's peace transcend in all areas of my life.

Resting in His Word

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

I came home early this morning and crashed. I was tired and since this was an off training morning, I decided to get my car washed after work and just come home and go to bed. Work pace is fast and furious this time of year. Everyone has vacation shutdown on their mind. I have finished my class, I am now doing C25k and just getting the apartment cleaned and organized, bills paid so I can travel home in style. Looking forward to getting Fullerton cleaned out and seeing family.

I used some new expensive compression socks for running yesterday in my new running shoes. Big difference in picking up my feet, changing my stride for a bit. This is my new reality, so I am grinning and bearing it. I need to get through this plateau for weight loss and I will. With this being the long weekend, i plan on going to the Farmer's market and having a veggie style memorial holiday, maybe checking out the Avenger movie. I am just keeping God's word at my focal point and not wavering.

Good job on your C25k training. Tell me about those compression socks. I think they may help my legs and ankle during my recovery. Keep up the pace and enjoy your veggie-style holiday. I bought some pineapple to grill and some peppers to roast on the grill to go with my grilled chicken. Yummy!!!
