Day Off Monday

Monday, July 05, 2010

It was a pleasure to have today off. As my brother-in -law wrote on my facebook page, it is even better knowing you have a job to get up and go to tomorrow. So many people in my family are unemployed, it is so hard to help and keep up. I cut hay while the sun is shining taking in all the hours over that I can bear. This is still a five day work week and I do it with gladness. emoticon

I finally planted three container flowers and placed on my back little porch. I did this with my Mom in mind because she loved gardening. I have been meaning to get some plants since May but one thing or another kept me from getting it done. I had a to-do list a mile long, at least I made a small dent in it

As I begin the second half of 2010, I keep my Mom in my heart, maintain my focus of eating healthy, not making food the event, watching my portions. I am more determined than ever since my knee problems to get my weight off and live like no else so I can live like no one else emoticon emoticon

What flowers did you plant? Do you have a favorite flower?
I love roses and carnations. I planted some at my parents house but have not planted any flowers at my home. Hope you can post pictures soon. emoticon

Celebrating Freedom

Sunday, July 04, 2010

My first July 4th in KC and I started the day off by going to church and getting my praise on. I made a healthy dinner of baked fish and cabbage medley. I let my poodles get in a festive mood my taking them to the groomer for much needed hair cuts. I have to download the picture of Habakkuk with her festive patriotic bows in her hair. emoticon

I thought of my Mom spending her first Independence day with Christ. I remember growing up of spending this summer holiday roasting bar-be-que and hot dogs and drinking lemonade. We would end up roasting marshmallows using hangers, always being warned by Moma not to get them in our hair emoticon How we ended up getting marshmallows in our hair is beyond me, but one of my sisters or myself always got marshmallows in our hair. emoticon

I celebrate freedom today. Living in the home of the brave. I think of all of your active duty personnel overseas protecting our interests. I think of my own service I did many years ago. We have so much to be thankful for this 4th of July. I thank God for my freedom, my family, my job, my friends. I know in my heart of hearts my Mom is enjoying her holiday as well because everyday in heaven is a holiday emoticon

Saturday's Best

Saturday, July 03, 2010

Giving the good Lord thanks for having a three day weekend. I will not grumble and complain because we usually have the entire week off for holiday, but times have change and that is not the case. I am truly humble and grateful that I have a job.

Today I will be attending a mystery dinner. I have never been to one and this was the idea of a co-worker of mine. I am looking forward to it, I chose the healthy fish option and it feels good just to explore my new city and relax. I worked a grueling twelve hour shift yesterday getting off at 4:00 am. I didn't want to sleep the day away, excited because I have the day off so I went in for my yearly eye exam and then went and picked out some new frames. I was talking with another co-worker last night who gave me good tips on improving my food choices. I realize that I am not eating enough of the right foods at the right time which is dangerous territory. It makes it so easy to grab a bag of chips when you don't have the right foods available. Healthy eating isn't hard, it is all about the planning. I proved that to myself after throwing together some salmon patties and brown rice on the fly as I was preparing to go to work. It was tasty and filling. Since I am off this weekend, I went to Costco today and picked up some colored peppers, some more fish and extra virgin olive oil. I never roasted peppers before so I am looking forward to it. emoticon

I am learning it is all about the choices I make and I intend to make the best ones for me! emoticon

Yummm roasted in EVOO! my favorite veggie dishes are in EVOO. Try brocollik too. Sprinkle little EVOO over broolli in a microwave safe dish and add garlic powder and cover and micro for 4 minutes. Theres your steamed veggies.

I have only been on one of those and I loved it. Ours was a mystery cruise which made it kind of spooky. You almost lose yourself in the game and think it's real.

Friday's Best

TGIF. I am doing a twelve hour shift and then the holiday weekend begins. I started out this morning by shopping down the original estimate I received from the dealer yesterday for my car repair on my muffler. Thank goodness I followed through and just didn't cave in and accept the mess they were shoveling. I was fortunate enough to find a Mieneke shop right on the corner where I live that had the part in stock and was able to make the repair in a timely manner. I even had a coupon from the the entertainment book my sister gave me for Christmas and I was able save $15 bucks more! emoticon

Taking this Financial Peace class has been an eyeopener, it has truly saved me some bucks just by looking at my financial snapshot. I thank God for the Holy Ghost and giving me revelation knowledge. I relish the fact that I can scamper off to work with a healthy lunch knowing I have saved over $575 in repairs today and that I will making double time after midnight to further and strengthen my cause emoticon

Good for you for shopping around for prices! That's what I usually do except for my car repairs because I have found a wonderful mechanic after searching and pricing around. He is very honest and guarentees his work - often fixing things for free if they failed the first time. Thank you God! Anyway, I am glad that you saved money on your muffler repair!

Be gentle with your knee. Working out in a pool is a good idea if you can do it with your schedule. I will pray that you can find the right solution to help you with your knee!
Know that I continue to pray for you daily!
God bless and have a happy 4th holiday!
Love, your sister in Christ,
Amy L emoticon emoticon

Thursday's time

Thursday, July 01, 2010

Well yesterday's ortho doctor appointment was enlightening. Yes I am beginning to show old arthritis in both my knees, more in my right than left. Yes my weight needs to come off, just to save me in some years down the road of having a knee replacement operation. I knew that walking in the door. If I ever been on task with my weight loss, I am more on target now emoticon

I am researching exercises that I can do without further putting pressure on my aching joints. I know Spark pages are a wealth of information, thank goodness emoticon I also along with doing Financial Peace University and Spark savings, I was able to shop down and save considerably on getting my muffler repaired. My vehicle hit a piece of debris on the highway this past Sunday and now sounds like a mini nascar racer. I took it in for its schedule oil change and had them look underneath and give me an estimate. After picking myself up off the floor once the dealer quoted me a price, I calmly left and drove right up the street to Meineke. That God there is one within walking distance to my apartment. The owner will do a free inspection and as he put it, save me quite a bit of money and still guarantee the work. emoticon

Lord, thank you for wisdom revelation knowledge!

Perhaps your orthopedic specialist can prescribe a swimming pool for exercise. Pool aerobics and pool walking and jogging is the best thing for knee pain. anythin in the pool. Walking is not reccomended.
