New Goals - Week 1 Review

Sunday, December 09, 2012

Week 1 of my new goals is over. Here's how yesterday went:

Daily Goals
1. Exercise for at least 10 min. - ACCOMPLISHED
2. Eat a maximum of 150 calories from “junk” food.
3. Drink at least 3 litres of water (12 cups). - ACCOMPLISHED
4. Complete SparkCoach Diet. - ACCOMPLISHED
5. Talk about how I'm feeling through friends, family, or SparkPeople. - ACCOMPLISHED
6. Stretch for 5 min.
7. Review my goals. - ACCOMPLISHED

I bought myself a cheese croissant at Tim Hortons after work yesterday, so I went over my calorie limit by 59 calories. Not too bad, all things considered. And I forgot to stretch after my cardio yesterday morning, although I was pretty tired.

Weekly Goals
1. Do 150 min. of cardio. - 152 minutes completed. - ACCOMPLISHED
2. Do full body strength training 2 times. - ACCOMPLISHED
3. Make 1 new healthy recipe. - ACCOMPLISHED

I met all of my goals for the week. Woohoo!

I'm going to leave my daily & weekly goals as is for this week as well. I don't think I can take on more with working 4 nights in a row.

I'm also happy to say that my weight went down just shy of 5 lbs this week. Some of that was due to bloating which subsided. But I squeaked in just under 230, which means that I've lost 30 lbs total with SP this time around. I'm also at my lowest weight in the last 5 years!

Have a great Sunday!

Goal Review - Day 4

Saturday, December 08, 2012

Day 4 is done. Here's where I'm at:

Daily Goals
1. Exercise for at least 10 min. - ACCOMPLISHED
2. Eat a maximum of 150 calories from “junk” food. - ACCOMPLISHED
3. Drink at least 3 litres of water (12 cups). - ACCOMPLISHED
4. Complete SparkCoach Diet. - ACCOMPLISHED
5. Talk about how I'm feeling through friends, family, or SparkPeople. - ACCOMPLISHED
6. Stretch for 5 min. - ACCOMPLISHED
7. Review my goals. - ACCOMPLISHED

Woohoo! All my daily goals accomplished! *pats self on back*

Weekly Goals
1. Do 150 min. of cardio. - 127 minutes completed.
2. Do full body strength training 2 times. - ACCOMPLISHED
3. Make 1 new healthy recipe. - ACCOMPLISHED

I'm only 23 minutes of cardio away from accomplishing all of my weekly goals. I'm planning on doing it when I get home from work this morning.

My mood is pretty good in general, although I've apparently been hyper-sensitive at home. It probably has something to do with Aunt Flow visiting this week. Having a good set of daily goals and reviewing them every day has really helped keep my focus & motivation up and prevented my from slacking off, even when I didn't really feel like exercising or cooking.

Looking at next week, it will probably be more challenging. I'm working again tonight, then off for one day, then working 4 nights in a row. I'm planning to get in a good chunk of cardio and a strength training session on Sunday so I don't start the week by falling behind on my goals. I find it especially hard to fit in exercise during the week, since my sleeping time is dictated by the hours that my daughter is at school and I also have to prepare food. There just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to fit everything in. That's why I have my "10 minutes of exercise each day" goal - I can usually manage to fit in 10 minutes.

Have a great Saturday!

New Goals - Day 3 Review

Friday, December 07, 2012

So Day 3 is done, time to review my goals.

Daily Goals
1. Exercise for at least 10 min. - ACCOMPLISHED
2. Eat a maximum of 150 calories from “junk” food.
3. Drink at least 3 litres of water (12 cups). - ACCOMPLISHED
4. Complete SparkCoach Diet. - ACCOMPLISHED
5. Talk about how I'm feeling through friends, family, or SparkPeople. - ACCOMPLISHED
6. Stretch for 5 min.
7. Review my goals. - ACCOMPLISHED

I completely forgot to stretch after my workout yesterday morning - oops!

A couple of friends and I had a healthy potluck last night, which was delicious. I ate too much, although not as badly as I normally would at a potluck. I'll have to be more conscientious next time about how much I'm eating.

Weekly Goals
1. Do 150 min. of cardio. - 127 minutes completed.
2. Do full body strength training 2 times. - 1 session completed.
3. Make 1 new healthy recipe. - ACCOMPLISHED

I made Beef & Broccoli Stir Fry with Orange Sauce from my cookbook "The Best of Clean Eating". This was the first time I tried soba noodles and I have to say I'm not a fan. Next time I'll use brown rice instead, add more vegetables, and make it a 4 serving meal instead of 6 servings. The sauce and veggie combo was good though.

I'm back at work tonight after 4 days off. I have some food cooked already & I'm planning to make more before tonight so I have all my meals prepped to take with me. My coworkers laugh because I come in with 10 containers sometimes, but it's working for me so I'm not about to change it.

Have a great day!

New Goals - Day 2 Review

Thursday, December 06, 2012

So Day 2 is done and I'm doing well. I was really hungry in the middle of the night last night (I work steady nights, so I'm usually up through the night), but I managed to stay under 2000 calories for the day. Which reminds me, I need to update my calorie range on my Nutrition Tracker. I find eating 1800 to 2000 calories a day works well for me - I lose at a good rate but I don't get ravenous while doing so.

I did a lot of exercise yesterday morning. I spent an hour lifting weights and doing cardio in between sets. I was breathing heavily by the end and although I was tired, I felt great.

I've changed one of my daily goals as well. I've had really strong cravings for sweets the last few days and I find that if I don't have something small, I end up going on a binge. So I changed my no junk food goal to limiting junk food to 150 calories a day. I think this is more realistic for me and will keep me from being attacked by the Binge Monster.

Here's how I did with my goals yesterday:

Daily Goals
1. Exercise for at least 10 min. - ACCOMPLISHED!
2. Eat a maximum of 150 calories from “junk” food.
3. Drink at least 3 litres of water (12 cups).
4. Complete SparkCoach Diet. - ACCOMPLISHED!
5. Talk about how I'm feeling through friends, family, or SparkPeople. - ACCOMPLISHED!
6. Stretch for 5 min. - ACCOMPLISHED!
7. Review my goals. - ACCOMPLISHED!

I ended up over my 150 cal for junk food because I had 1 tbsp of chocolate chips in my yogurt AND I had 2 cookies last night. I got up to 11 cups of water, only 1 cup short of my goal. I should be able to reach these 2 today.

Weekly Goals
1. Do 150 min. of cardio. - 92 min done
2. Do full body strength training 2 times. - 1 session done
3. Make 1 new healthy recipe.

Tonight my husband, daughter, & I are getting together with a couple of friends for a healthy potluck & some Dance Central 3 (which my one friend tells me is awesome). I'll be making my new healthy recipe for that. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

Have a great day!
