When I lived in the South (Memphis area for 4 years in the early 70's, and then Jackson, Mississippi, area for 2 years in the late 70's) where seasonal changes are less dramatic, I learned that I enjoy the changes in the seasons, and especially autumn when the leaves turn beautiful, brilliant reds and golds, and then fall to the ground. Raking them is work, but it's fun, too, and great exercise. When we were little, my dad used to rake up big piles of leaves, and then my sisters and I would jump in them and play.
Today was an absolutely gorgeous autumn day here, and I was outside for a while. However, I did not go for the bicycle ride that I should have taken. Instead I have mostly sat inside with the cats. Tonight there are storms coming through with possible high winds, rain, and cooler temperatures for the next couple of days. I'll get some more bike riding in yet, though, when the sun comes out later in the week.

Enjoyed that neighborhood conference on Friday last week, but the problem was that the food was included, and I ate it. WAY too much sodium! And it took me until Tuesday to get the water weight off again. On Saturday I had a vascular screening scan that was normal, so that was good! Had a nice visit with my sister on Saturday afternoon, and a fun evening with my classmates from my high school class. We graduated in 1964, 45 years ago, and many of them I had not seen since then. However, I was surprised at being able to recognize several; one of the cheerleaders had hardly changed at all! Now I've volunteered to set up an online community website for them so that, hopefully, communication, in terms of keeping in touch and keeping contact information updated, will be encouraged. I did not eat the dinner, but I did eat small portions of the [salty] Sunday morning brunch. Went to a luncheon on Tuesday, and plead being on a "special" diet so I didn't have to eat there. America needs to correct this extremely salty dietary problem. It's killing us - along with the fat and sugar.

I keep saying, "Everybody wants me to work, but nobody is willing to pay me!" Well, we put hours and hours of time, and many people donated lovely things for our organization's rummage sale, and we made some money. The remaining items are supposed to be moved to a member's garage, where she thinks we can sell more. Coordinating it all is not really my responsibility; but as the chair of the organization, I am somewhat responsible. The transport was set up for Monday; but due to circumstances, everything is still on hold, and I am getting antsy.
The next project is Thursday evening with a (monthly) Community Forum co-sponsored by my church, this one, Thursday evening, on Healthcare Reform. Then Friday morning I have to be at a statewide conference my Neighborhood Association is hosting. Need to be there by 7:30 am to help with check-in. I'll be there all day and probably part of the evening. Saturday I'm driving down to my hometown in Ohio to attend my 45th high school class reunion in the evening. Will stay at my sister's home, and return on Sunday morning. Another busy week.

Most of my time will be taken up by this rummage sale on 9/11 and 9/12, so sorry if I'm not here much. Have to get up early, so must get to bed NOW!

Cloudy grey skies, and occasional rain here. No parades happening in this area. Some trees are turning fall colors, so summer is ending. Guess that's a little sad. Good day to clean something, and then curl up and read a book and stroke the cat?
