Planning to work out at the gym tomorrow! :D

Sunday, December 25, 2011

Holidays are difficult times, I think. Friends and neighbors all mean well when they invite us - even expect us to participate in parties, gatherings, and events. They want to elevate our spirits during the dark days of winter. All the extra food, though, can sabotage our best efforts to stay on our diets. And the time required for parties and other special holiday events can sabotage our best efforts to stick to our sleep schedules. Together, this can be a combination that may result in weight gain.

The very best antidote I can think of is to work out. Whether at home or at a gym, getting active can result in burning off those extra calories, increasing your serotonin levels (making you feel happier), and preventing weight gain that otherwise might result in depression once the holidays are over.

Now on my own at new job

Monday, November 14, 2011

After being trained for 4 days last week, I was on my own this morning, and I wasn't very well organized, I'm afraid. At least I was told that the coffee I made was potable. But there were several things I should have done that slipped through the cracks. Will have to do better tomorrow.

Extra busy

Wednesday, November 09, 2011

Sorry if I've been more absent than usual: a new temps work assignment and several volunteer commitments have caused me to be somewhat absent since Friday. Our community Chorale rehearsal was Friday evening for the Saturday evening performance, and I had a Women's Caucus meeting Saturday as well. Inbetween I had to hem my dress. Sunday after church we had a Congregational Meeting regarding dispensation of our piano. Sunday afternoon there was a memorial service for an acquaintance who died suddenly. Started the new temps assignment Monday morning, then got my shingles vaccine, dropped off some printer ink cartridges for re-use/recycling, and did some shopping errands. Tuesday after work I went to vote, made phone calls for 2 1/2 hrs, urging others to vote, and had Chorale rehearsal until after 9 pm. Just recounting it all makes me feel tired. I meant to work out this afternoon, but just came home instead - maybe tomorrow....

Knocked myself out yesterday

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

Walked, rode the bike, and mowed the grass yesterday. Knee a little stiff today, but it will be fine tomorrow.

Thank you for all the good wishes!

Did not get that job, but applying for others the same business is posting. The HR manager said they'd had 75 applicants for that single position. I believe the interview went alright, but by the end, I thought she had ruled me out - probably because I haven't worked directly with patient charts before.

The other issue I'm having today is that I think my big freezer quit yesterday. When I went to get something out for supper last night, things weren't frozen hard. Have to check on it this morning. Not sure what I'll do with the stuff that's in there.

My friend had space in her garage freezer, so I took all the meat and veggies there. It is cooling some, but I have to check on it tonight. It's supposed to keep things at 16 below 0.

Just keep on keeping on. That's all you can do.

Freezer: WOW...if that is broken...you will either have to get it repaired and soon...or hold the biggest GRILL PARTY you have ever seen! :)
