Dental appointment ...

Thursday, March 03, 2011

Thanks for your comment. Yes, when I worked at U of M Medical Center, I always went to the dental school. Now, though, that 38-mile drive is looking longer than it did 5 years ago! I have some dental insurance that will pay a little (25%) for the crown. I've made an appointment with a local dentist who's in the insurance system, but can't get in until mid-April. The tooth itself had a root canal, but the sharp edges are scratching my cheek. I might phone them back and see whether they might do a temporary fix in the meantime.

Last year in January and February I wiped out my dental benefits and spent an additional $6000 out of pocket for a bridge and root canal/crown....I am still paying for it and might have to pay off one of the loans with retirement money. I might have to start going to our UofM (MN) dental school as my dentist is very high priced.

Hope you at least get a temporary fix.... emoticon

Crown off my tooth

Wednesday, March 02, 2011

Lost the crown off my molar yesterday morning, and it left rough edges. That crown was put on by my then-son-in-law in the spring of 1998 when he hadn't been practicing dentistry for very long, and it never did fit right: food got trapped under it. About a year ago I was told that it wasn't going to last much longer. I have some dental insurance, but I doubt that it will cover much of the cost. Guess I should make some calls to try to find out.

I used the dental college when expenses were tight. Did you get some denture paste to glue it back on until you can get to the dentist?

Good luck. It is the pits losing a crown. The air on the tooth hurts and it is expensive to replace.

Had a wonderful time

Sunday, February 27, 2011

singing at the senior center, and it seemed that the seniors enjoyed the event, too. However, our MC, who's a member of our choir, and who has been doing these events for the residents there for several years, and did a fantastic job, was having an edgy afternoon. So I'm hoping she's feeling better today.

Going with my church choir to sing

at a senior center this afternoon. We're going to do popular songs, and it's a sing-along. Should be lots of fun!

Putting in the time ...

Friday, February 25, 2011

but haven't really started working yet: just answering the phones, because my supervisor is still out. Her power has been out since the ice storm hit last Sunday night. She's been ill as well, but her doctor's office is also without power. The energy company says they expect to have all the customers' power back on by tonight. By Monday things should be more normal.
